Ok my lOves, it is getting to be crunch-time. But I am thinking that I should be able to breathe a bit easier soon.
I flew through house cleaning yesterday so I could get home and get to work on some of my own things. Gary and I ordered a gift for Scott- his "big" one-- a small Swiss Army knife. That was a relief. I finished basket #2 of 6. Three of the unfinished are 95% done and the 4th is for my mom so I have time for that. I baked another batch of cookies and scrapped a page for the 12 Days Event. And I signed a million petitions to save Net Neutrality. Maybe not a million, but a bunch. Not that any of that helps with this *$#@&^ Administration.

We got more snow this morning and Scott needs to leave around 7.30. He takes "country roads" to the school, but it is the main way out of town to get to the other side of the state so the roads should be cleared. The school districts all have delays so traffic should be lighter too. (yet still, I worry)

My mom is coming up today and we are going to do some online shopping and then maybe run out locally. This would mean that I should be able to get the majority of my shopping done too since I really only have Gary and the kids to work on.

I hope that all of you have a very productive day!

Nancy- it was 11* when I left the house in the morning and it only got to 19*. it was freezing. And yet, my little skin and bones puppy wanted to keep going outside to eat snow. I need one of those heated hoodies too. I remember you talking about that last year and it sounds so cozy.
Congrats on the Devils win!! Any news on the injury?
haha!! I love that idea of having my mom put the money/gift cards into big boxes :D

Trudy- good for you- you need that mental break and fresh air. 2 more days?? The 16th IIRC? :whoo:
ITA about just accepting good wishes with kindness. I saw on meme online yesterday that said how to make a "Lib" cry-- by answering Happy Holidays with a Merry Christmas. Why is that a thing???? Cuz Christ wants you to make "Libs" cry?? I have been away from the Catholic Church for decades but I don't think that is something that He would have wanted.
My fingers are crossed that Hunter's cold is better for the flight too. Not fun for him if his ears are blocked up :(

Rae- How was your coffee with Jen, any good news about Bailey?
Hope that Darrell kicks this cold quickly and that you don't get it. I am sorry, but it breaks my heart to think of gluten-free and paleo cookies...

Jean- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of you for finishing the book!! How does that feel? Awesome, I bet!!

Sharon- hi! So nice to see you in here again! I am sorry that life has been so hard, esp with FIL and your cat. But at least having the house filled with your kids and dogs makes it fun. Three dogs is a lot no matter their sizes- mine are 40, 55, and 65 lbs and it gets crazy.

Felis- I hope that this trip to the capital is better than your last one.

good morning OMgosh woke up to snow falling this morning. It had snowed during the night and then a quick snow fall in the morning. Everything looks so pretty. It was only about 2 inches. We are pretty cold 28 degree and not getting above freezing. My DH is done with his classes for this semester and so he is taking it slow this am. He took Luther out around 8 and it is after 9 now so they must be having a great time or my DH has fallen and he can't get up LOL. Nope just heard the back gate open. My Devils are in Montreal tonight and without 3 of our biggest stars. Kyle Palmieri is out with broken foot, Marcus Johanssen is out with a bruised ankle and Taylor Hall is out with a bruised knee. But I still have my rookies and my goalie so I am hoping for a win. Then they are back home for a date on Friday with the Dallas Stars. So far the Stars have defeated the Rangers, the Islanders and on Friday it will be our turn. So hard games for my team. My son got a late start to his day having to get his car cleaned off. Other than that not much going on. Had a good dinner with my girlfriend and her daughter. Her daughter loves elephants and is looking to go to Thailand so an elephant sanctuary. How cool!

Felis have a great time in the Capital. Catch you on Friday.

Chris have fun with your Mom today and hope you get your shopping done. They say still lots of good deals out there. How fun to be baking cookies. Sounds like things are going well and are busy.

Trudy good for you getting in a hike. I bet it was wonderful! You deserved to enjoy the fresh air. It always resets to be outdoors. Cant believe how soon it will be before the gang arrives. Hope the cold goes away quickly for Hunter.

Rae how was the time with Jen. Poor Darrell hope the cold goes away fast and does not find you! good luck with the recipes!

Jean congrats on finishing the book that is so awesome! Speaking of books here is a good one about birders that is just hysterically written. A Supremely Bad Idea. It is about one man learning about birds from a couple who love watching birds. I really think you will enjoy it. As I am reading it because it is set in NYC area I recognize all the places they bird and then they go to AZ on the same birding hunt I was on. And the writer is funny!

Sharon welcome back. Sorry about the losses. However your house sounds full of family and pets. How fun! Drop in when you can.

Have a great day all!

Hi everyone...Woke up to a 70 lb dog standing on my chest...when you gotta go, you gotta go!!!

We are going to bring my dad home for Christmas so he can have some time away from the nursing home. It is always interesting with a high functioning alzheimers person in the house!

nancy-enjoy the snow..I just can't get warm this winter at all. Sorry for all the injuries on the Devil Rays. My football team the New Orleans Saints got beat up last Thursday- 3 people out.

Chris- enjoy the time with your mom and shopping!

Good Morning everyone! It is foggy at our house again this morning, but hoping it will burn off quickly. Sometimes we have fog when others don't, guess it comes up from the Lake, it will be here and then five minutes later it is gone. Then I will look out the window and it will be foggy again. Crazy! Yesterdays hike was just what I needed, however it was a lot longer than any of us anticipated almost 5 hours. I kept thinking of all the things I needed to get done at first, then just let it go and enjoyed the hike, there were many view points once we got to the top of Cobble Hill Mountain and it was a glorious sunny day! Most of us had to remove layers of warm clothing and we had lunch sitting on top of the Mountain overlooking the valley below, so pretty! I am behind in scrapping my hiking pages (what else is new) but my New Years resolution is to finally get caught up and then do a photo book of all of our hikes. Today is a bit of wrapping and I will start to clean the house, a bit of baking too.

Chris - Sounds like it really is coming all together for you! You are my hero for getting everything done and I am sure you will be finished well before me! Yes only two more sleeps before the arrival of my beautiful daughter and family. It will break my heart if the flight is delayed for any reason, keep your fingers crossed for me! ITA with you that no God would want us to be making anyone cry, or fighting over anything in his name. My wish for you today is that you get everything completed and you find time to have fun here at the O! I wish I had so much more time to spend here with all of you!

Nancy - OMG so many injuries for your Devils! I hope that they do well with their rookies for you! It sounds like a beautiful winter wonderland where you are! I hope that Luther and your DH had a lovely walk together! Yes my hike yesterday was just what I needed to clear out the cobwebs, so great to be back in touch with Nature! That book you are talking about sounds like it would be so fun to read! Are you all ready for Christmas Nancy?

Rae - Oh no your poor hubs having the man cold! No fun and I sure hope it keeps it to himself and doesn't spread it on to you! Isn't it funny how some people only suffer for a day with a cold and others seem to combat it for weeks? So not fair! I should have you send me your hubs recipe for JamJams, I always loved them as a kid, but never got my Moms recipe (silly me) Not that I will have any, but the kids might enjoy them a lot! Hope your day is not too busy and now you will have to show us a new you with shorter hair.

Jean - Woo Hoo the book is finished! WTG! I hope it get delivered back to you in time for the gift giving! I hope you have fun catching up on the fun at the O today!

Sharon - Nice to see you back here! Sorry about your losses, so heartbreaking! Seems you are always taking care of someone  Hope that you are enjoying your houseful and that you are ready for the big day! Have fun with everything that is happening here at O!

Felis - Sure hope your trip to the Capital is a good one!

Well I look out the window now and the fog is back down at the Lake again, it looks like it will be another sunny morning. Off to make the bed, empty the dishwasher and get on with the day of cleaning etc. I sure hope to make it in here for some fun today! Have a wonderful day ladies!

Good morning, ladies. I've got a busy day of desk work but after today, one client is away until January so my schedule will be a bit lighter for the 2nd half of the month. Looking forward to it. D starts his 2 wk holiday tomorrow, so if he is feeling poorly, at least he will have lots of time to rest. He is really tired, achy and sneezing constantly but no sore throat or cough (yet). Poor guy, last night he was up for hours, with painful leg cramping. He is prone to them and this time was really bad. So this morning he was feeling miserable.

I was frustrated with my hair in this weather, being dry and fly-away staticky. So I got in to see my hairdresser last night, so glad she fit me into her busy schedule at the end of her day. She chopped a few more inches off and its just below my ears now. Feels so much better. I'm happy with it. I haven't had shorter hair like this for a long time.

I was sad last night, hearing that my aunt had passed away yesterday. I spent a lot of time with her as a kid and my kids adored her, she babysat them when they were very young, when I first went back to work. She lived in Ontario and used to come a few times a year to stay with us and my mom but since my mom passed away she no longer came out. She developed alzheimers and couldn't travel anymore. Hope she's up there with all her brothers and sister (my mom) now.

Chris - enjoy today with your mom. Sounds like you are getting everything done. Now I need to do the same :)

Trudy - what a long hike, you must be so fit! How exciting....the family will be there soon! What a wonderful holiday time you'll have with them all. I think I have a jam-jam recipe pinned that is the same as D's moms recipe. I will find it and send you the link, later.

Felis - have a good trip.

Nancy - I'm so jealous you have a few inches of snow...sure wish we did! I'm bummed that we will have no snow for Xmas this year.

Sharon - good to hear from you.

I'm getting another coffee and getting to work now. Have a good day, everyone.

We have a few inches of snow and the snowplow guy says he'll get here, but not when. But it might be as warm as 30 F and doesn't look as windy. Took a print out of the book to senior center group where it got passed around - fortunately as one person found a place where the beginning of an endnote went missing. (Oh goody, plow just showed up!)

Chris, yes, the object of Christmas must be making others cry! What? Good luck with the shopping with Mom. Nice that you are making such headway with getting ready for th e big day.

Nancy, I'd not heard of that book, will have to see if the library has it. Good luck to the Devils off in Montreal. Will DH walk Luther mostly now, or do you go together or take turns? Nice for him to be off now.

Sharon, glad to see you here. So sorry for your losses, but the full house must keep you hopping. Even more so when you bring FIL in too. Hope it is a fun and happy time. And that you don't have to wake to 70 lb dog every morning.

Trudy, yay for the hike! Sounds like it really worked for you. And doing the book in the new year will be beautiful. Imagine you are really excited for those two sleeps to pass.

Rae, best wishes for swift recovery to D. Sure hope you don't get it. Nice having less work and with him off work too. We need to see the new hair cut too.

Felis, hoping your visit to the capital went well!
