Holy guacamole, it is cold! 28* and windy. I wish I had a visual of how the temps dropped like a rock yesterday afternoon. I was out in the yard, doing my thing and sure it was chilly but not too bad. I am transplanting some bee balm and can feel the air change. Look up and the sky was steel grey. I finish up, get in the shower and by the time I am done, it is full-on thunderstorming and *cold*. I have layers and layers on this morning and I can't seem to get warm.

I was able to get quite a lot done around here yesterday which is why I decided to go out and work with some of the flowers for a bit. The bee balm's roots are so tightly woven together that I have to use garden scissors to cut them loose. That makes me feel bad- I hope I am not hurting the plants and I definitely hope that I don't end up killing them. All of the astilbes that I transplanted last year seem to be doing great, new leaves on all of them.
Caitlyn is doing great after her shot. other than the night sweats, she hasn't had any effects at all.

Today, I think I need to clean out my supply closet. It is a total mess and everything needs to be pulled out and organized. I have been putting this off for a long time and now that the weather is nicer, it is going to get pushed back even more if I don't do it today. It is too cold to work outdoors so today is it. If I don't log on tomorrow, it is because I got buried under piles of junk!

xoxo

@taxed4ever Did you end up finding something to do yesterday? Hopefully, something fun?
Argh [rolling pin smilie] How darn frustrating the insurance company is. I hope that if the floors are going to buckle that they do it soon. Can you put down a throw rug so you don't track the stickiness everywhere? I wish I had a better suggestion for you to wash the floors-- the only other thing I can think of would be maybe a heavier degreaser? Maybe Pert Shampoo or Dawn dishwashing liquid? What about TSP? I know I am no help but I can't stop myself from trying. :(

@Cherylndesigns I mentioned the Biotin to Scott yesterday and he is already taking it and he didn't know what the dose was but I told him what you were taking.
I am a bad faery- I almost busted out laughing that you almost fell over, not at you, but b/c that is something that I would do.
Noooooooooooooooo, don't step on the spiders! ;) Do what we do-- we have a "Friend Transport." ( AKA a small plastic bathroom cup that is labeled Friend Transport so we can reuse it. LOL!) I will try to move all spiders but those tiny ants, I don't. They are PITB. grr.
How neat to have the geckos hanging around. We have salamanders here but no geckos. There have to be lizards but I don't think I have seen any. Good luck with vax #2 today! *fingers crossed that you get wifi soon!!!*

@nancyr Congrats to DS and MG on booking a place and setting a date! That is amazing news! Is it somewhere I would know? And yes, it makes so much sense to have it in the afternoon for so many reason, including the cost. Are the kids going to be in the wedding party? Talk about some photo ops! My gosh, it got so cold here around the same time but we had crazy wind and buckets of rain and lightning. Scott was just finishing up his shift when it started so think he missed the worst of it. Do you have to get the Real ID this year? I renewed online last year but I have a Passport (*cries a bit that we were supposed to be on the cruise last year*) so I don't have to get Real ID yet. We need to get the car inspected, it is overdue. When Scott was a baby, I took the car and waited with him screaming in his car seat for over an hour and swore I was never going to do it again. Now I try to make Gary do it or I bribe Scott.

Hope everyone enjoys the day!

Popping in for a quick hello while sis is still sleeping. It has been so wonderful to have her here. She got in mid-afternoon on Monday and my niece arrived Tuesday afternoon. My niece is pulling her 27' RV trailer. She is parked at an RV park about 20 miles from my house but isn't a bad drive over to where she is. Niece came over yesterday morning and we had a fantastic visit. Then our cousin and his wife stopped over for a short visit later on that morning. We have all had both Covid shots so were able to have a relaxing visit inside. Good thing as the temp was in the low 50's with wind blowing. Niece headed back to the RV park right after lunch as she still had to get her WIFi set up and other chores around her RV. Then last evening DD#3 came down to visit with Sis and I. We are heading over to the RV park this morning to see Niece then doing a bit of shopping on the way back home. Tomorrow the 4 of us are having a "Gals night" with supper and visiting. The Sis will be heading back to TX on Saturday morning. Niece will be staying in the area for a month or two so will have more time to have plenty of visits.

I hear sis stirring so have to close this out. Will try to get back in here on Sat or Sunday. CYL

Good morning! I can say good morning for a change.

Chris @faerywings I KNEW you'd bust a gut over me almost falling backwards against the wall that wasn't a wall!! ROTF I'm sorry about the spiders - NOT. I just don't like them in my bathroom. These are the spiders with the long legs, too. They run too fast to put them in a jar and some of them jump. I have no idea if they're poisonous or not, but I don't like them. One of them eluded me for days and I decided he was going to be my pet, then he annoyed me once too often - bad spider.

I've never heard of planting bee balm. I need to look into that.

Nancy @nancyr I'm so thrilled for your son and his wife-to-be! How awesome that they have a venue already!

Kay @BrightEyes I can hear the excitement as I read your post. How wonderful to have so many of your family with you! It's been such a hard time for all of us and it's so great that some of us are able to be with our loved ones again.

Chris, thanks for the wishes for our vaccs today! We're "planning" on no reactions - mind over matter. We just want to get that behind us. We're all going to a big cookout Sunday at our SIL's brother's house. His wife has practically been in hiding since Covid - afraid to be around anybody she doesn't know - like family. They're 2 weeks past their second shots and they're having a celebration party! All the family, close friends, boyfriends/girlfriends are invited. It's like a "coming out" party.

Hubby is building me a raised garden bed. It will have 3 tiers and is going to be super cool. He surprised me with it and ordered everything and he's busy building. The temps are going back up to "normal" and should stay there (hopefully). The ferns are back out. Haha

Waving to all. Have a good Thursday.

Morning all... It is a lovely morning, but lots of dew. I suppose that means that there is more moisture in the air? So probably means the rain is on its way soon. Yesterday I spent some time in the garden, pulling weeds and watering all of the plants. The new bush is doing well and I can now see one of hosta plants poking through the ground. I have lost a few hosta over the years and now that the branches have all been trimmed that were hanging over our side of the fence, there is much more light. So I doubt that they would have liked that too much anyway. I hope that my last hosta is happy where it is! Washed the floors AGAIN and they are finally starting feel less sticky. Keeping an eye on the flooring, so far it is not showing any signs of buckling, however the transition boards look like they are. We don't have to make a claim right away, so we will see what happens. Sure hope that the ants don't get a whiff of all that wine and start to invade our kitchen UGH!! DH and I were talking about getting bikes the other day. I was telling him about how Nancy is loving being able to ride her bike again and it would be good for both of us to get out on the trails around here and get some exercise. So perhaps we will look locally for a place that sells them this weekend. I need to get my grocery order in and then get to the pool this morning. So I better get going!

@faerywings - Yes the Insurance companies do everything they can to convince you not to spend what they think is their money. It is so frustrating! Then when you have a DH that hates to not have a perfect no claim record on his insurance it doesn't help either o_O. MEN!!! That's all I will say about that! Glad that you were able to be outside in the garden for a bit, but oh man that cold front that came in on you doesn't sound very nice. Hope you get some warmer temps soon! Heather was saying that they have had snow for the past couple of days, it doesn't last long, but still, brrrr!! Yes I have even tried TSP on the floors, it is slowly getting better and I am sick of washing these floors every dam day!!! Thanks for the suggestions, they are all welcome and appreciated more than you know!

@BrightEyes - You have been having such a lovely time visiting with your sister and niece! How nice! Enjoy the rest of your time together! The gals night out sounds fun! Hope you find a nice spot to have your dinner! I also hope that the weather gets nicer for you too!

Ok I am running behind so I will catch up with all of you later! Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. I enjoyed being out in the yard with the dogs this morning, it's such a nice day out and especially good to enjoy it b/c the rain is coming tomorrow for about 3 days. Remi uses a bell hanging on the doorknob to ring to tell me she needs to go out to potty but she started ringing it way too much to just want to go outside and play. So the new routine starting today is the basement laundry room door is closed (blocking off the basement to her except for my office) and the bell isn't hanging off the basement garage door now, it is hanging off the laundry room door, just outside my office. I can see her and get out of my chair right away to grab leash, clip it on and say "lets go clean" and lead her outside and then stand in one spot for 2-3 minutes. If she doesn't go, then we go back inside, no playtime, no treats. She is furious with me and has aggressively banged the bell about 20 times already this morning b/c she wants me to take her out to play. She did go potty a few times but mostly she wants to play. She exhausted herself and climbed into her crate to sleep LOL. I knew she would demand to go out a lot, wanting to see if I would change my mind and let her go play but nope, I stuck to it and she realized I wasn't giving in. The trainer said it'll only take her a day or two to realize I won't give in and aside from occasionally testing me, she should "get it" and start ringing it appropriately just for potty breaks. So that has been my morning :)

@faerywings A onesie is coming today from amazon for Jen. Vet said it was a great idea to keep her from trying to scratch. He also did a laser closing on her incision which is a faster healing and doesn't require stitch removal. Bella has been more subdued and cried a bit the first night but is doing well. The hard part will be as she starts to feel more peppy but isn't supposed to jump or play for 2 wks. I am not looking forward to that with Remi. Keeping her still and quiet is going to be impossible.

@taxed4ever Glad you got some gardening done and your bush is doing well. My garden looks a little sad as the dogs are chewing the branches on all the bushes. They are still starting to bloom but will be a bit sparser than usual. Have fun if you get some bikes. I used to love to go biking but now with my neck arthritis, sitting on a bike isn't very good for me.

I'd better get a coffee and get back to work. Have a great day everyone.

The weather turned upside down Sunday night when we got about 4" heavy, wet snow. The crabapple was in full bloom but seems OK but don't know if it can make fruit (imagine the orchards!) but the maple in the tree lawn has its big leaves and the weight of the snow took down a couple of limbs. Yuck. Sun and temps up to 40 Monday got rid of some but last night we had another inch or so. No damage from it and most of the snow is gone now. We had temps in the 80s earlier this month! Oh well.

Last night I had a meeting up to time to make dinner and I really had to pay attention as I'm secretary and taking minutes. DH suggested maybe going out, so we did. It's the second time as we did last Tues. on our anniversary. Seems to be pretty safe and we have had our shots. It's our usual place and its so good to see everyone. Only one server hasn't come back. One said last night it was much better to see us once a week rather than once a year.

Chris @faerywings you asked about the woodpeckers and I meant to read up on life history of pileated, but forgot. Anyway, the kids will stay with them for a while after full grown but eventually have to move on to find territory of their own. So sweet that you have them. I agree Cheryl @Cherylndesigns should leave the spiders alone. ;) She'd have to ask to be sure, but I believe the only poisonous ones she might have are black widow and brown recluse, neither with the long legs. OTOH there are certain places I've seen spiders (like my pillow) where I just can't deal with it and they do NOT get moved. I don't know that we talk to all the critters that much but we do with the birds in the yard.

Hoping everyone is getting through the days OK.

Hello girls! Happy Earth day!
I was very crappy yesterday as we got food poison. My sister was finally able to join to us the day before, so we decided to celebrate it ordering delicacies. I'm always laugh on her desire to travel and taste local food, as this is nightmare for me, my stomach is very sensitive and can get upset from everything unfamiliar. But this time all 3 of us was really bad (dad didn't wanted to test it anyway). I'm feeling much better today, but still too weak.

Chris, sorry to hear that weather is so cold, I know how much you hate that!

Kay, love so much to read for your family meaning! Have fun!

Cheryl, uhh, bad Cheryl! :p Spiders are nice creatures, they fight with the fly who are probably the only creatures that I hate. I'm with Chris we have a "Friend Transport" too. YEY, for the raised garden bed! What you will put in?

Trudy, the bikes sounds as an awesome idea! How nice that your garden doing so well! After so many rain most of my bushes looking bad.

Rae, hehehe, dogs are so cute and smart!

Jean, OMG snow in April, that is too much even for snow lover like me! Hope you are right and it's not damage your flowers! How fun that you are start to get out again and support restaurant businesses in these tough times! Do H&S have some plans to start play again?
