It's the weekend! Did everyone get to sleep in? I did if you count 6 a.m. as "sleeping in."

How was your Friday? My plans got switched around. I decided to not go on a hike. I needed to stay home and get some of my ducks in a row.
It was more like this:
duck.gif

but I tried. :rotfl:

It was the usual stuff- vacuuming, tidying, putting stuff away that had been getting shoved into corners. I did some decorating outside, including the spider lights. I also talked to my mom. Got mad and frustrated. Yelled at each other a bit. Talked to my brother. Everything is such a mess. On the upside, I *think* I have a little more detail about my dad. The urologist already did a scope and saw "suspicious" growths. The CT scan was to see if there were more that weren't visible. The biopsy will determine the type of cancer or benign.
The sense I am getting is the Dr believes it to be cancer based on the tests already done.

In the convo with my mom, she was talking about getting a second opinion for surgery on her carotid artery. That also confused me. The last I heard (IIRC!) was that the Dr was still watching it to see if the surgery was necessary. But now she is talking like it's going to happen.
I don't even know anymore. They pick and choose what they want to tell us (me and my brother) and then it bites all of us in the you-know-where.
:banghead:

I had some fun plans for today. I was supposed to be going on a hike, led by Scott this morning. Inthe afternoon, Cait and I were going to a local Harvest Fest that had a Petting Zoo. Both are rained out. I'm going to go with Caitlyn to the vet instead. I can't wait to see the vet's face when she shows up with two new babies. LOL!

Wishing everyone a day filled with joy!

@BrightEyes I just looked at Autumn Comforts and it's so darn cute and cozy. I bet you came up with some wonderful pages with it.
Some days the brain just needs to sit back and relax with TV.
Were you able to get the craft tabled cleaned up? Hope that you can see the eclipse on TV.

@Cherylndesigns Obviously not superstitious in this house seeing that Cait and Tom are getting married on a Friday the 13th :D
The last solar eclipse that was visible here, Gary set up some reflector box thingamajig and I have pictures of the eclipse on the ground. I almost deleted them all the other day, thinking that they were only pics of the ground. Haha
WWCD also works as WWChrisD. Now-- that's a conundrum. Sorry I would have made you :coffeescreen: had you been drinking.
Yes, smoking and radiation therapy are the top two risk factors for bladder cancer. My dad smoked but quit in the 70s so more likely that the radiation is more of a factor.
The succulent craft sounds soooo cool! I can't wait to see them.
Happy birthday to Braden!

Good morning ladies. I did sleep in if we are going by Chris' standards. I made it to 6:30. I feel better today. I just need to be able to take action of some kind.

I'm supposed to go to a beach picnic today with that big ladies group. But the rest of the weekend is pretty much free game. We have had really hot weather the last couple of days...heat index of 105! What is up with that/ Supposedly we are going into a cool spell now...I sure hope so. Cool being high's in the mid to upper 70's which is perfect if you ask me.

Shaun is on a 10 day antibiotic. They saw the cyst in the CT scan. They are hoping he just has a UTI and that the antibiotic will take care of it. It usually takes a couple of days for them to grow the culture so they did the urine sample but started the antibiotic in case that is it. If not, they will need to do surgery and this time it would be more aggressive to make sure that they got the cyst out...last time they just drained it but if it is causing this every year, we can't have that.

Sydney was in a bad mood when I talked to her yesterday. She is not enjoying the conference...the packaging companies are very limited and since that is her area of expertise she thought she was wasting her time. And she is in a hotel room with 4 other girls and she thought that she was just done with people. That takes an awful lot of energy for my little introvert.

And, the good news is that the rest of the weekend is for me...nothing planned...just enjoying myself. Maybe catching up on scrapping.

@faerywings I am so sorry to hear about your dad. And maybe your mom. So frustrating to try to piece all of the medical stuff together, especially when they don't tell you everything. And I'm sorry about the rain...that definitely puts a damper on things. I don't think that I have mentioned how cool the idea is of you working in the ecology center. You would be great with that. And how proud you must be of Scott to know that he is such a good reference! WOW! The epitome of adult kids.

I sure hope that you can find some appropriate health insurance. Things are bad out there and insurance (all insurance) is so expensive...but you cant be without it.

Good Saturday Morning to All!
We have a steady rain happening here today with 61 degrees at the moment. Mark has gone to the woods to build a fire (hopefully) and sit in the cabin to listen to the rain on the tin roof (probably more like napping, lol)! I'm now having to transfer my picture files back to the old EHD because that file, for whatever reason, is grayed out when I try to access them on the Mac.....even thought all of the other files I transferred are accessible! WHY??? WHY??? WHY??? GRRR!!! Sometimes I hate very strongly dislike technology! So, I guess I will spend most of my day transferring files!

Tomorrow afternoon after church I will be doing laundry so I can pack for our vacation next week. Monday through Wednesday is the annual Shepherds 360 Bible Conference in Cary, NC. It ends around noon and we travel back home, unpack.....repack.....and depending on how Mark is feeling, either leave to go to my son's in Alabama Wednesday afternoon or wait and leave early Thursday. We are NOT riding the bike to Alabama. Seems our bums cannot tolerate more than a couple of hours at once on the bike these days! A sign someone is getting older, perhaps??? ;). I asked Mark it there was any way to haul it behind the car on one of his trailers, but he said his trailers are too big for the car AND the trailer hitch on the car is all wrong. It is one of those square ones and is meant only for one of those little "shelf" type of storage racks. So, instead of taking pictures behind Mark on the bike, I'll be knitting in the car! Works for me!

In case I don't get a chance to get back in here tomorrow, hope everyone has a great week!

Morning, gals... I slept in this morning .... 8AM... that could be because I got involved watching 'The Crown' series on Netflix. Next thing I knew it was midnight!!! Just discovered there are already 5 seasons with Season 6 being released in November!!! Guess I am going to have to spread out my watching/binging on it. :rotfl: I am about halfway through Season 2 so have a ways to go. I would like to be caught up on it when Season 6 is released. I may go back and re-watch "The King's Speech" about Elizabeth's father.. I have it on DVD.

No, @faerywings - Chris... the craft room cutting table is still piled with boxes... I did look through the photo albums and realized the photos I haven't scanned - were not ones I needed to scan - mostly similar photos to the ones I already have done. So those albums are stacked on the dining room table waiting to be placed on the lowest shelf in the bookcase there. That means getting down on hands and knees... and then getting back up again!!! :crying1: It is tiring to look through the photos in boxes and look at the scanned ones to see if I already have them ... so can only do that for an hour or so at a time. Thinking it is time to just put them all away for the time being. Heading into the holidays which is always a hard time for me as that was the time when DH was in the hospital or nursing home before he died. It is better to put things away for now.

Chris, so sorry about your parents not telling you all about what is going on with them health-wise so you can be prepared to help where you can.

@vickyday - enjoy the conference and your visit with family. Wise choice to take the car... aging buns are not up to long rides.

Looks like this year's balloons are not coming my way. Sunday is the last day for the festival. But I do have lots of wonderful photos from other years. At least the festival was not rained out like it was last year.

Oh oh! Lots of stuff at the dailies today!
It makes me realize how much I've missed out on lately.
So I didn't know @faerywings has ducks? Really? Is there a photo or is this another one of your jokes?
Are your documents for the job on the way? It would be great if it worked! The job would be perfectl for you and then you'll have different thoughts. I know how hard it is, but you will get sick yourself if you worry more about your parents' health than your own. Be careful!! I think they know how much you care and that's why they don't always tell you everything about their health. What do you think? Could it be? I am sending you a great deal of strength and confidence! xoxo

@BrightEyes I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't seen any series on Netflix yet... Ashes on my head! :holysheep:
You know it so well, I don't. But I would like to, because I'm sure I'll find a series that I like and that will keep me in front of the TV half the night. I have to find out how much a subscription like this costs.

@vickyday I wish you a good trip and a nice time for your short vacation. I would also like to have a cabin like this right in the forest! That has to be incredibly romantic and cozy, right? You showed us one side or the other of the cabin.

@LSlycord I hope you had a wonderful beach picnic today! :grouphugyay::hammock:
How far is the sea from you? I wish you - and of course everyone here - a nice weekend with pleasant temperatures! It's getting cooler and wet here now. The sun can now only be seen in short intervals. How long until spring??? :brrr:

Good nite, Ladies! Wishing you a wonderful sunday, whatever you have planned for it.

Good evening, Lovelies.

Well, as you all know, things change very quickly around here. I just got home - have been gone since about 11 this morning. We all decided that the price for the pumpkins and succulents was too much - it was $65 a piece! I think I said yesterday that I wish the pumpkins were something that wouldn't rot in a few weeks (well, not in those exact words, but you know what I mean). So, we ended up all going to Nancy's for lunch - Braden's here and brought a new girl with him and brought his BFF Jaxon. After we had lunch, Adrienne, Ava and I headed to Muskogee to Hobby Lobby. We also went to Beall's Outlet and another store while we were over there (can't remember the name but we have one here - it's that cheap place where I bought the clothes last weekend).. I got a few Halloween pumpkins (not real ones) and some chew bones for Daisy.

Chris @faerywings sorry about the things you're finding out about your parents. I agree with Susanne @Su_Sanne they probably just don't want to worry you. I know you want to know what's going on, but I'm sure they would rather not tell you everything. It has to be so frustrating though. Then just to find out bits and pieces like you have to. You mentioned your dad smoked - seems like a lot of the "older" fire fighters did - when my grandfather was a FF, they ALL smoked - just sat around in the firehouse when they were off duty and smoked. Back then, they had no protective gear either, so a lot of them ended up with emphysema, which he had. They even fought chemical fires with nothing but their suits and helmets on.

Yes, it was a good thing I didn't have a mouth full of tea, etc when I read WWCD. I love the reversed WWCD. You KNOW we would most likely do the same thing, don't you??? :floorlaugh::giggle4::lol23:Girl, we could get in so much trouble together.

Kay @BrightEyes I KNEW you would love The Crown and I didn't know they had a new season coming back. We also loved The King's Speech. We love anything about that time period, though.

Vicky @vickyday sounds like you have some travel plans, and you can just enjoy the ride and knit.

Linda @LSlycord sorry that Syd is feeling overwhelmed - Alyssa gets the same way. She says she just can't "people" anymore. I do hope that they can get Shaun's problem figured out and get it fixed, poor guy. Are you all ready for your test next week?

Susanne @Su_Sanne great to see you back in here with us! You know there's never a dull moment in here.

We were unable to see the eclipse today but it was dark and cloudy here all day, so we probably wouldn't have seen much different. Chuck said he watched it on TV and it was called "Ring of Fire". I'll bet it was exciting for those who were able to see it. Chris @faerywings I almost deleted my own recently, because I thought they were "mistakes". Some of them were so wonky, because I was just holding the camera and not looking. I need to go back and look at them again. I remember how funny my umbrellas looked in a few of them.

Well, Friday the 13th is behind us and the Eclipse Day, too. Hugs to everybody who needs them and who couldn't use one? :grouphugyay:

XOXO

Good Morning!
I know most of you are sleeping, but since I'm still up at 2 a.m. EST, I decided to go ahead and post.

I FINALLY got all of the pictures moved from the EHD that had them grayed out and back over to the newly formatted EHD that they were originally on. Before I got too far, I went ahead and checked the first files I moved to be sure they were accessible from the Mac. Then I moved the rest of them over.....checking them on the Mac every so often.....just to be sure!

I got quite a bit of knitting done while I was doing the transfer! I'm going to have to take another skein of yarn to tie into the current one so I can keep on knitting when we go on our trip next week.

Hope you all have a great week! I'll be checking in but will be away from the computer most of the day until the evening. I'll "see" you again probably a week from Tuesday.

Happy Sunday!

Sheesh, Vicky- you sure as heck stayed up late! I woke up at 5 again and snuggled with Whisky for a while. That was too early but then I heard the coffee pot beep and I knew it was safe to get up and rolled out of bed.

The highlight of my day was going to the vet with Caitlyn. The vet cracked me up. He's probably early 40s, a little scruffy, tattoos, and all that. But when he took the babies out of the cage and started talking to them and cooing at them, it was just too funny :D The babies are healthy and as soon as they are old enough, they can be introduced to Squirrel. He agreed that they are around 4 1/2 weeks old and they need to be closer to 10 weeks for that.

I am working on laundry and food shopping today. That's about it!

Have a wonderful day :grouphugyay:

@LSlycord The beach picnic sounds like lots of fun! I am happy that you are making new friends. With everything going on with your health and the stress of the kids, it's important to have a support system.
I feel so awful for Shaun, he must be 100% *over it!* I hope the abx does the trick and that it lasts.
I feel awful for Syd too, I know that feeling of being done with people and not having anywhere to escape is frustrating. I hope she can carve out some time for herself today.
Thanks for the support re: my parents. My brother texted me yesterday to say that he talked to my dad quite a bit (they are in PA together) and that my dad is in good spirits. I called my mom and she seemed better too.

I haven't heard anything about the job application. :(
I was looking at some dental plans and doesn't look like there are any available to adults on the Marketplace. No Vision at all. I am relieved that I was able to squeeze in that last dental exam and that I got the extra boxes of contacts last month.

@vickyday Your weather sounds like mine was yesterday but warmer. I don't think we broke 50* and it rained all day.
I feel your pain with technology, can't live with it. can't live without it. All we can do is curb the desire to do :stupicpc: :voodoodoll:
You sure have a busy week and traveling! Have safe trips-- and yes, keep the bum cushy in the car. lol

@BrightEyes You must be really enjoying The Crown. I know Gary and I watched the King's Speech and liked it. We tried to watch The Crown at one point but couldn't get past Matt Smith who we knew as The Doctor. Maybe we should try it again since more time has passed since we watched Dr. Who.
Are any of your kids/g-kids going to be around to give you a hand with moving the albums? I hope that you can do that before the holidays, no need to make the time any harder emotionally than it already is :hug2:
so cool that you "saw" the eclipse!

@Su_Sanne Here is a good rule of thumb for you. If I say something or share a photo of something that seems odd, it is most likely me being funny or silly. :p I don't have ducks although I would love to. Do you have the saying "Get your ducks in a row" in German? It means getting everything organized and prepared in an orderly way.
I thought I would have heard from the Ecology Center by now, but I have no idea how the job application process works anymore.
Yes, my parents hide stuff from me and my brother to protect us. They also were raised in families that didn't trust a lot of people outside of immediate family and are more secretive because of that.
We are complicated :rotfl:

@Cherylndesigns $65 for a pumpkin craft!? Yikes! I don't care how cute it is, that's a lot of money! You could probably spend the same amount and have you, Ava, Adrienne, and Alssya make them at home. Soooooo, Braden has a new GF? What is she like?
Us?? Get in trouble? Together? Not a chance. :hahano:

Slept in late again.... 8:30AM before I woke up! Yes, I was up late watching "The 2nd season and into the 3rd season of "The Crown" when the cast changed. @Cherylndesigns - you might enjoy watching it now that Matt Smith was not Phillip after season 2. I don't remember seeing him but then again... I didn't watch a many of series at that time.

@faerywings I forgot to tell you how much I like the ducks sliding on the ice!!! Too funny! Mine seem to be scattered here and there and not staying in an orderly fashion at all!!! No, don't have anyone to help put the albums away but they are not big nor heavy... just the problem of the space for them that is on the bottom shelf. It is not getting down - although I have to move the dining room table/chairs out a bit - it is the getting back up afterwards. :crying1: So there they sit - stacked nicely on the end of the dining room table.

@Su_Sanne I am not very familiar with Netflix as I just got a free year of it when I changed my cell phone service last month. DD#3 has had it for a few years and exposed me to it when she stayed with me for 2 months when she had foot surgery about 2 years ago. I did not have a "smart TV" at the time... but she sat up her computer tied to the family room TV so we could watch Netflix. I got a "Smart TV" last fall so now I can stream programs. So I am a real novice when it comes to them.

Well it is time to think about getting the down comforter for the bed out soon and turning the heat on. Thank goodness the house is well insulated but the weather station has been talking about freeze warning in the several areas of the state. I did check that the outside faucets covers were in place already.

:hahano:

:giggle4:

Oh yes. :nod1:

blergh. I have to get my day started. I'd rather hang out with all of you.
YUP! Just like men.....can't live with them and can't live without them, LOL! JK! :giggle4:

I'm working on laundry today, too, for our trips.

Hi Ladies,
Just waiting on laundry to wash so I can throw it in the dryer, so thought I would see what was going on here.
We will probably head out about 10 a.m. tomorrow for the conference. We will stop and eat on the way. It is about a 2 hour trip east of us.

I already have my clothes I'm going to wear ready. Just need to add them to the suitcase. Plus need to pack the toiletries, our Bibles and note pads and my computer and camera. Mark still has to gather his stuff. Oh, yes, I need to remember to take my knitting, too!

I think I'm going to try to do a page today in the Color Play challenge. Supper is leftovers (and so was lunch, lol)! Since we are leaving I didn't want to leave anything in the fridge. Mark is pretty good about making sure the leftovers are eaten! Thank the Lord for that! Tim was a great leftover eater, too! The Lord blessed me with two great guys!

Have a great day!

Hello my loves.

Boy, has it been a day and a half. Chris @faerywings I couldn't get on the O on my phone - duh - I can't remember my sign in info because it's all in memory. I know Susie let you know, but I thought I'd clue everybody in. Chuck was sick all night - he's NEVER sick and this am about 8 he said "Call Roger - I need to go to the hospital". Now, I knew he was really sick because he would rather do anything except go to the hospital! He was so sick by now that he was dead weight. Roger knew that he couldn't move him, so he called 911. Do you know how eerie it is to hear those sirens screaming and know that they're coming to your house? (Maybe some of you do, but I have never experienced it and it's really a sickening sound.) I watched them come onto the property down below and go through the gate that Roger had opened with his phone app, then park in front of our "paradise view" in front of our house.

The EMS got him to the hospital, and we all followed - and they took him to the emergency care unit and he was in so much pain and then he spiked a fever of 105 and things really started happening. Long story short, his gall bladder needed to come out asap! He's never had "real" surgery - never been cut open and he did not want to be there. They were able to a laparoscopic proeceure, which they weren't sure they'd be able to do. His gall bladder was red hot they said and he probably passed a gall stone during te night, hence the intense pain.

So, now I'm home alone - weird. Ava and I just corraled his CPAP machine and all "the parts" which I know nothing about and she was going back to the hospital with it and some other "comfort things" for him. Oh the blessings of having family so close - God bless all of them! Steph wants to head over here tomorrow if she can clear it with her boss. I told her to please not jeopardize her new job, but of course, he would love seeing her.

I just needed to "vent" to my friends and try to unwind after an exhausting day. Love all of you. XOXO

Oh, Cheryl! What horror news!!
In these situations your knees become weak and you just act like a robot! I hope and pray that Chuck can get help quickly and that the stupid gallbladder comes out quickly. That must be a hell of a pain. DH daughter was in her mid-30s when her gallbladder had to be removed. Get well soon and speedy healing for your husband and a large portion of relaxation and positive thoughts for you.

Big hugs xoxo :heartpumpred:
