Happy Weekend everybody! I am happy that the sun is out. It is really chilly but at least it looks cheery. There is a tree out my window whose leaves are buttercup yellow. The way the sun catches on them-- delightful.

Yesterday I wondered what I was going to do and I thought it was going to be drinking coffee and petting dogs and yup, that is what I did. Dogs and rats. I gave the rats pieces of uncooked quinoa noodles and they adore them. They go scampering off to eat them and all you hear are little crunching sounds. I love those girls. Ray is sleeping a lot but I guess if I were her age, I would be too.
My frustration of the day was my attempts at crocheting a scarf for my mom for Christmas. When she dropped off the yarn from her neighbor to me, she mentioned how much she liked one of the skeins. I have started and ripped out countless rows/patterns over the last few days. I tried to find an easy pattern that might work with the yarn and haven't had any luck. It is a bulky weight and variegated shades of brown. Any of the shell stitch patterns came out looking lumpy. I tired a half double and it was too bland, then tried a half double back loop only stitch and the yarn is too textured to see the ribbing.
I am not that good of a crocheter to do anything much more complicated.
I feel like I have been starting at Ravelry.com so much that my brain is unRaveling :pound:

Cait and I are running to the FP this morning, I hope that they have sugar and laundry detergent. (But please no more cans of kidney beans.... What do people use kidney beans for???) Hmmm, chili. And I know I have ground turkey. I wonder if the guys would like turkey chili.
Anyone have a good chili recipe to share?

That is about it. Have fun today!!! xoxo

Trudy- awww Grumpy Cat! LOL
I should have known that the last Friday the 13th was in March. Caitlyn was put in quarantine after a possible exposure on the 12th at her preschool internship and the next day, NJ went into lockdown. Those days are burned into my brain. So it makes sense since it feels like we are kind of still in March-- today is March 234th, 2020. The never-ending month. ha!!!
I am so sorry that BC is getting worse with cases, how is the Island so far? Be safe!
The carpet sounds so nice, the colors will be good to hide dirt. I can't wait until you get it in! The holidays are going to be weird no matter what this year. As long as everyone is healthy, nothing else really matters.

Rae- I hope that you didn't push your back too much yesterday and that it's much better today. Thank you for the compliment about my family. We are doing better today.

Cheryl- I think you should be safe from the Thanksgiving Police. That would *not* be a good look esp since you are on Cherokee Land. Yikes. ;)
It sounds like you and your family are "bubbled" like how Leah is with us. And darned if you aren't isolated on your property. hehe.
Sooooo exciting about the house!!

Hugs and waving to Felis, Jean, Nancy, Kay, and everyone else I know I am missing.::grouphug

Still not completely back up to par. The tummy is still tender and I am on a 'not much of anything' diet... crackers, oatmeal. tapioca and some soup. Hopefully today will be last of the tummy upset. Been resting and reading and napping.

The governor here announced yesterday that the state would go back to "Shelter in Place" for 2 weeks starting on Monday. It means Stay Home unless you are an essential worker. Which means non-essential businesses will close, no dining in or on patios - carry out only, all recreational facilities will close, malls will close. Schools will go back to on-line - no in-classes. No gatherings larger than 5 and to only have Thanksgiving with household members you live with. No travel unless absolutely necessary. Put a limit on 3 per person for cleaners, TP, etc {to avoid hoarding}. Not going to grocery store this weekend as it will be a mad house. Think I have enough of most things except fresh fruit/veggies and can wait on those for awhile. Good thing that I had already made of my mind to stay home with no one coming to the house a few weeks ago. And I did refills on Rx earlier this month.

Thank goodness for the internet, Zoom and other similar sites so we are not totally isolated. I really look forward to the weekly family chats and to see everyone.

Sending 'be well' and 'stay safe' thoughts to all. Heading back to bed.

Good morning, ladies. The rain stopped so got out early this morning to feed the critters and take some pics. My back is feeling better today thankfully, so the extra rest really helped yesterday. Today I'd like to take Taz to a nearby park for a walk as I need to get a few groceries and the park is across the street. If we can beat the rain that is coming, we'll see.

Chris - here's a rice recipe with the kidney beans but you can swap out whatever beans you want. I buy tins of mixed beans and add a bit of smoked paprika to the recipe.

Kay - take care and hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm hopping in the shower and getting on with my day. BFN

Morning ladies... Happy Saturday to you all! I am trying my hardest to stay upbeat and keep the blues away! I am missing my family so much! No, No, I will not go there :nono: Yesterday's swim was really good! I think that they have raised the temp a bit in the pool so its not quite so much of a shock to get into the water LOL. Not sure how much longer I will be able to swim my laps, because our numbers are rising every day! I have booked myself for swimming until the end of the month and we will see what happens I guess. I was pretty busy yesterday, in the morning I went to my little craft store and picked up the stamp I ordered and of course a few other items LOL. Then back home to get my bag ready for swimming, after my swim I ran to pick up my groceries. Got my food put away and started working on dinner. I did manage to get a card made with my new stamp and I just love it! Today will be spent doing some errands with my Gary and then back home to work on my Calendar, its getting to be crunch time and I need to get this done!!

Chris - It is so nice to hear that you are feeling happy today! Yes the colours that leaves produce, do bring joy! There is still some beauty in this crazy world! Your time spent with all of your fur babies sounds lovely! So cute! Sure hope you get what you need at the FP! My sister is knitting these beautiful Toques and I am getting one for Heather and one for Sadie for Christmas, she is really good at knitting, have you ever tried knitting instead of crochet?? I used to knit, but I am too inconsistent with my tension and things never turn out properly LOL. I think I have a gorgeous ball of wool somewhere that perhaps I can give to her, now I have a new quest for the day to find it.

Kay - Wow total lockdown again for you! I saw that there were record numbers of cases in the States and just imagine what it will be like after Thanksgiving, because you know most people won't follow the rules!! Glad that you won't have to go anywhere for a while and you were smart to have all of your prescriptions refilled when you did! Stay safe and I hope that your tummy is much better today!

Ok off I go to get ready for our running around. Have a lovely day everyone!

Hi my sweets. I can't sleep, so I'm up trying to get sleepy. I'm drinking my tea and waiting for it to kick in. No, I don't think the Thanksgiving cops will be looking for us out here. That's why we feel good that we will be living where we are. Things aren't going to get better for awhile. We're getting more isolated all the time. Roger (our SIL) now owns the remainder of the property - they signed on the loan last week. A cute little cabin came along with the property and it's rented out pretty much all of the time. Ava will take that over and eventually they want to build 8 or ten more rental cabins. Ava and i worked on the first cabin yesterday afternoon. It was pretty dark and blah - not dirty, just blah. We made it look really light, bright, and airy and it looked like a different place when we were done. Then we took pictures and she put them on airb&b and i'll be darned if somebody didn't want to book it today! So we have new visitors in there already.

When all of the cabins get built, it will be a wonderful income. They're in high demand here and go for just under a hundred a night. We want them to be very cute and they're booked all the time. Ava's going to be in charge and she's going to be very busy when they get this off the ground.

I'm not staying on here long, my tea is starting to kick in - I can feel it slowly seeping through my bloodstream. I'll be back tomorrow. Night night.

When I say that I slept like a rock until 4 am, wow, do I mean it! I actually dreamed about sleeping. And I *think* I dreamed about dreaming about sleeping in said dreams. Kind of like an Inception of dreams :pound: I wish that it had lasted longer than 4 am but I am not going to complain since it was the best night sleep I had in a very long time.

Not much happened yesterday, a couple of small good things. I was excited at the FP, I was able to get some tissues, TP, and some pie crust. Also-- that came with a can of cherry pie filling and I prefer pumpkin or apple, but maybe I will make a cherry pie for the rest of the family. I also got apples so maybe I should make an apple pie and save the cherries for another day. *ponders* I should bake something seeing that my ginormous batch of banana bread is almost gone.
The FP also puts out some extras that get donated and Cait grabbed some school supplies, folders and a few notebooks. While she was looking at them, I saw a plate that looked like it was in the shape of a witch hat. Turned it around it was a cute little ghost with the hat- and it matched the pajama pants that she was wearing. Not that we have any need for a ghost plate but we had to take it. LOL

I think I found a pattern for the scarf for my mom. Just a combo of single and double crochet stitches so it has a bit of a bumpy pattern that works with the twists of the yarn. I have about 5 rows done- so far, so good! My eyes needed a break from that after a while so I scrapped a page for Amanda's (AFT) November challenge. I am obsessed with her layer styles and had a blast playing around with the rusty metals.

Today- hmmmmmm... I submitted my "rough draft" food order for Tuesday. I hate dealing with the website on Sundays because it times out on me. But after the last time that the order was being processed before I was finished, I don't like waiting. If the order gets pushed through early again, at least I have more than milk and half and half in the cart. Gary and I have been researching diets for Crohn's Disease and it looks like it will be easier to deal with than when he tried Gluten-Free (less expensive for sure!!) we still aren't sure which foods are triggering him. One thing the websites were saying was to stay away from garlic. I don't know how to cook without garlic! If a recipe calls for 1 clove, I am putting in 5. Or more.
I have to do some housecleaning today. Every day I am slipping into more lazy habits. I wish we could have people over just to force me to clean.

Wishing all of you a wonderful day!

I just ate some b-fast, made sure Cait was out of bed, and now I will do some quick personals before I start to clean.

Kay- I sure hope that you are feeling better today. I saw that NV went into lockdown again. I am glad that you are able to stay at home. NJ isn't there yet but I wouldn't be surprised if we shut down a bit more over the next few weeks. The supermarket website had flags on a lot of items, limiting purchases. I am so glad that I had already been building up as much as I could. My town's FB page is already saying how there are no TP/paper towels on the shelves. So smart of you to be on top of all of that.

Rae- Were you and Taz able to get out to the park for a bit? The Pinterest link was broken, is there a name that I can Google?

Trudy- (((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) I cannot imagine how you must miss your kids and grands. It would break my heart. I am sending you lots and lots of happy thoughts to cheer you up a bit. You were very busy on Friday. I hope that it will continue to be safe for you to keep swimming. What is your new stamp? Must be fun to do so many creative and artistic things!
I tried to teach myself how to knit and I am not coordinated enough to use two hands. LOL Everyone says that knitting is easier but not to me. I hope you find your yarn. I am happy just rolling yarn into balls. So soothing to me <~ yes, I am a dork
Please keep the US in your thoughts. The cases/hospitalizations are so damn bad. No end in sight and only getting worse. :(

Cheryl- sorry to hear that you had a tough time trying to get to sleep but I am thrilled that the tea works so well for you. How nice to know that you have so much land just for you and the family. My next-door neighbor has been buying the lots behinds our houses for years so no one can buy/build on them. It is a relief to know that it is going to stay wooded for a long, long time.
How smart of Ava to get the cabin on AirBNB! Sounds like a fantastic investment.

Love to all of you!

Good Afternoon everyone!! It is a very rainy day here :rain: but that's ok because its just a house cleaning day for me. I have been getting the :washing: done and I have vacuumed all the floors. Next job will be to wash the floors and get the bathrooms cleaned. I did get another calendar page finished yesterday, only 3 more to go! Wow it is going much better than I thought it would and I am not stressing out about it at all this year. Maybe because I will not be shipping them by mail this year, that is helping lessen the stress levels :noidea: I will send them to the kids local Staples to have them printed up and then they can just pick them up when they are ready. Saves me so much $$. DH has been very busy fixing the toilet in our ensuite, so that is good and then he will be busy doing more research on things he wants to purchase LOL what a guy!! DH and I are happy that we will be face timing with our Son and family today! Its been way too long!!

Chris - looks like its just you and me here today, guess everyone is having a busy Sunday! My new stamp is so nice and I know that you would love the card that I made with it, its very faery like LOL. Not sure what I will use it for or send it too, but I just love how it turned out. Here is a pic of the card I just have to put some kind of greeting inside.

So the stamp that I waited so long for is the tree. All of the stamps I used on this are from Lavinia Stamps in the UK. I love all their products, but they are a bit pricey! I did the background with distress inks and some flicks of water. I am so happy that you actually had a good sleep and that you got all the great stuff from the FP! You will be busy baking and your house will smell sooooooo good!!

Cheryl - Nice that the tea works so well for you! I always found that tea kept me awake but I guess I was drinking the wrong stuff LOL. What a fabulous way to increase the income for your kids! The cabin sounds wonderful and if you made it so cute its no wonder that there are people in it already! I bet it looks amazing! Great that you will now have all that family owned property!

Well its 12:30 and I still haven't had anything to eat, my tummy is telling me its time and there is a ham, mushroom, peppers and cheese omelet calling my name LOL. Have a great Sunday everyone!
