Good morning. It is a somber day in the US, for sure. Lots of memories. Shock, disbelief, fear.
My dad participates in the local memorial ceremonies every year, this one is from yesterday.

Julian Leshay | For NJ Advance Media

I am going to have to scrap it for him even though I don't have permission. BIG apologies to Mr Leshay but it's only going to be a gift for his b-day, I won't post it online. I feel guilty about saving the photo but it's too good to pass up, ya know? He looks pretty handsome. And not bad for almost 85!
However, I was ready to bash my brother over the head last night. :furious: He texted me at 11.30 pm. I was fast asleep when my phone dinged. Had a heart attack when I saw his name only to see a link to the new article. Eleven. Thirty. PM.
SMH!!
Jeeeeez!!!!!! You can't do that to me dude, not with our parents as old as they are!!

At any rate, I was glad that he sent me the link, but he could have waited until later today. :D

The table is all done, just needs to cure and we'll be able to use it tomorrow night for dinner. It looks really good! I didn't realize how much build-up it had, it's nice and fresh and bright again. Dinner was surprisingly very good! The savory funnel cakes were neat as the bun and there was a siracha aioli for the dressing. They made a smoky mushroom "bacon." I can't eat mushrooms (allergy or sensitivity-- either way, my stomach doesn't like 'em) so they put the marinade on some of Caitlyn's vegetarian bacon slices. The movie was typical 80s horror-comedy-sci-fi silliness. Total goofy schtick.

I have so much to catch up around the house today. Laundry and making a menu for the week are my top two chores. Coloring Crew is this afternoon and I want to go this week since I won't be able to go next week. I've got to do my best to not obsess over the weather next week. ATM, Lee looks like it will turn more north and not hit NJ, but depending on the size of the storm we might get rained out. Not much I can do. *tries to shrug nonchalantly*

xoxoxo!

@BrightEyes It's too bad that we don't live in the same time zone, we could hop online to commiserate at 4 a.m. Did your DD give you some good tips with your phone?
Good luck with the BP over the next few days too.

@LSlycord It's hard enough to find reputable builders where you live, it's got to be much more complicated in another state. You will have family near the land to keep an eye on the progress once it is started?

@taxed4ever We never worry about you being MIA on Saturdays ;) We know you and your Gary are with each other. How nice that you got out on the lake together, so much better than your usual Costco trip LOL!! Congrats on the new baby in the extended family!

@vickyday What a wonderful weekend you had with your family too! You must have been so happy to see some? most? of the kids and grands. I can only imagine how full your heart was :heartpumppink:

@Cherylndesigns We can hang out in the loony bin together, I have never been "normal" either.
Has there been any improvement with Marley or is it too early to tell? Still got my bone marrow-building vibes going to her~~~~~

Love to you all!

AWWW! Yes, your dad does look quite handsome in his "dress blues" (is that what they are called?). I think I would do the same thing with the photo!
Sure hope the weather doesn't adversely affect your trip next week!

Morning, all. Yesterday was quite a learning experience vis a vis the new cell phone. So glad I had DD#3 here to help me. Turns out I do need to go to the carrier store as the SIM has not been installed/turned on. The phone is running on the internet hot spot right now. We did manage to get voicemail set up and learn several other things but it will take awhile longer to get used to it. Had to LOL... I thought the buttons on the side were to take photos... nope... it is to turn the volume on ringer, etc up and down! :floorlaugh: No wonder I couldn't hear it ring when we did a trial call to it!!! :banghead::spinningchair: But, there was a happy thing - just before she was ready to leave -IT WAS RAINING!!! Suppose to be cooler - in the mid-80's with some rain for the next several days.
She got in touch with DS#1 and they will be here this Friday! Can't wait to see them!!

Before DD got here, I decided to sweep the kitchen floor. Well, that was a 'probably should not have done that' moment! Both shoulders and the back talked back to me before I was half done. Looks like hiring a cleaning crew should be on the to-do list soon.

@faerywings What a wonderful photo of your Dad!!! He looks so handsome and dedicated! No wonder you wanted to snag it. Yes, today is one of sad remembrance for those of us in the USA.
Didn't wake up early as I didn't go to bed/sleep until 11 PM! I got involved with scrapping a LO for Joyful Heart's Song Challenge. I was amazed at what you can do with just papers....

2/3rds of the grands were together this weekend. 6 of the 9. Of course, the cousins all hang out together and get along great! And they humor grandma with photos and hugs, lol! Had a wonderful time with my daughters, too! Wish Jessica lived closer to us. The cousins told their mom they should move to NC. But Jessica's husband works for the state of Ohio, so there is not much chance of them moving. Too bad! Yes, my heart was overflowing this weekend!

I agree! Sounds like you need to hire a cleaning crew!
I despise having to learn the ins and outs of a new phone, too! But glad you have someone who could help you! Does DD#3 live near you?
Sounds like I'm going to have to check out JHD's Song Challenge!

Good Monday Morning!
We got some much needed rain this weekend. However, it rained so hard and so much that we have water running in the basement! But the sun is out, so it will probably help to dry the ground out so the water will move along on it's merry way! Our temps are going to be cooler this week, too! YAY!!!

It was a great weekend with my girls and grands! DD#3 was not surprised that her husband planned a party but she was surprised that her big sister drove 6 1/2 hours to spend the day with her! Then they all went to church with Mark and I yesterday. A great ending to a great weekend! The birthday girl, Elisabeth, is to your left. You know who is in the middle and my oldest, Jessica, is on your right.

Today I am driving Ilene 2 hours west of here for the annual Widows' Retreat that is sponsored by the same church as the monthly meetings I take her to from October - May. She will have a wonderful time with the women, even though our good friend, Carolyn, cannot attend. Carolyn is due to leave the respite care facility this Wednesday, I believe.

I need to get ready to leave soon, so I will close for now!
Have a great day!

Morning gals!! Sorry I never made it back here for personals yesterday! It was a busy day of lots of yard work and doing some errands. We relaxed the whole day on Saturday, so it was time to get to work. Still have not gotten much of the cleaning of the house done, so that will be done today. We did spend some time looking at new cars, the lots were empty of salesmen as it was Sunday, so it was a good day to just check out what was out there. Let me tell you, there is not much in the way of inventory!! We are looking to get a hybrid vehicle, but we might have to order one, there is nothing on the lots right now. We are in no hurry, so its nice to just take our time and see what we would like to look at. I had a restless night last night, so I was up before the birds and got my DH some breakfast before he headed to work. Not sure if I will get a nap in today or not, I don't usually nap during the day, it just throws my whole sleep schedule off for the night. I have to run to get eggs at Hope Farm this morning, but other than that I plan to just stay home and get my cleaning done.

@faerywings - Such a great photo of your Dad!! He really does look handsome in his uniform! But I kinda love a guy in a uniform anyway :giggle4: . Yes a sad day of remembrance for all of us, as we were all affected in some way by 9-11, it changed the whole world didn't it?!! Glad that you got the table all finished off and that it will be cured in time for your dinner!! Oh and baby girl was born by C section yesterday morning 7lbs 7oz. her name is Sophia Marie, she's a sweetie!! Mom and baby are both doing well.

@BrightEyes - Sounds like you have lots to learn with your new phone! Sorry that you are hurting from the house cleaning and Yup it might be time to get a cleaning crew!! How nice to have more family coming for a visit!! Enjoy!

@vickyday - What a wonderful photo of you and your DD's!! Sounds like another busy day of driving and spending time with your good friend! Sorry that Carolyn will not be able to attend though. Glad your temps are cooler and that you got the much needed rain. It is raining here today also, it is very much needed too!

Ok I need more coffee and then I best get ready to go get my eggs. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! :waving1

Oh, it's still morning, so Good Morningtt
I'm sitting here watching the 9/11 ceremonies, which do every year. It honestly just seems like yesterday and those of us who watched the horror unfold on our TV's will never forget how we felt that day.

We all spent last evening together- at Adriene and Roger's; they got a pizza oven and we made pizzas. They were SO good. Ava made us pizza with pineapple on it and the others made what they wanted. It was really fun for all of us to gather around their big kitchen island and make pizzas. Marley acted so much better!. She's gained weight already and didn't act frail like she did a few days ago. She's not as crazy as she was before, but she acted pretty darned normal last night. They take her in this week for another blood draw. Their local vet will do that, so they don't have to take her clear to Tulsa. She was so pathetic looking just a few days ago and the change in her is amazing. We're still holding out hope that she's going to somehow make it, but she's been through a lot.

Chris @faerywings your dad is SO handsome and I agree with Trudy @taxed4ever I love seeing a man in uniform. I love that you're going to scrap that picture. You just have to - that's an awesome picture and your dad looks so proud. Thank him for his service, from me. I know that living so close to NYC had to have an even more horrible impact on you and your family! What an awful and dark day that was and like Trudy said, nothing has ever the same again. We KNEW it wouldn't be and it hasn't been.

Kay @BrightEyes congrats on the new phone. You made a big leap, so there will be a learning curve. I remember, years ago, when I went from an Android to an Iphone. That was a big learning curve. The main reason I got an iPhone was because Becky Higgins had just come out with her Project Life App and it was only on iPhone for the first year or so. I HAD to have that app. LOL Most of my family had iPhones and had been bugging me to get one for awhile, so I finally did.

Vicky @vickyday what a great picture! It sounds like you had a wonderful family weekend - that's wonderful!

I'm going to get off here now - I'm getting hungry.
