Happy Juneteenth and happy Monday to you all. Have you recovered from a day of spoiling the men in your life? I am now but yesterday was another long day on my feet. The dads seemed to have a good time and lots of fun conversation at the table. Scott felt bad that he wasn't able to pop in, he was stuck at the parks down-county, handing out permits and monitoring the parking lots. Not really what he likes to do as a Ranger but part of the job. He hasn't had much chance to be up-county in a while. :/
He was home in time for dinner and that was wonderful. I made vegan scalloped potatoes to go with Beyond Burgers and dang, they were good. I am impressing myself with some of my vegan cooking.

The highlight of my day: I had a hummingbird at the feeder! :dancing6: One showed up when everyone was having brunch but I was in the kitchen. they called me to see but by the time I was at the window he was gone. At dinner, he (assuming it was the same one) came back!! So happy! I was going to take it down after this last filling of it. All I was getting was ants. Boooo. Now I am going to keep at it and see what happens. The feeder is hanging next to a basket of impatiens and now that they are in full bloom, the colors might attract the birds better. *fingers crossed*

BFF invited me to sit with her by her pool today since she is off of work for the holiday. Gary said that ABC weather said it is supposed to rain on and off all day. My weather app is saying sunny and that is the one I am believing. :nod1:

Hope that today is a wonderful one, enjoy it all!

@LSlycord Wow, the house is really coming along, I imagine the bugs can get pretty bad by you. Are they worse now that you are closer to the coast?
Hope that Syd is getting back into the EST routine and I don't blame her at all for hanging in the spare BR for now :D
Oh no! That is sweet and funny that Brian and Shaun went out looking for you. GPS is so weird with the way it takes you places sometimes but I don't think I'd like to go back to handwritten directions and paper maps again. How was the new restaurant?

@bcgal00 Now *that's* a great Father's Day gift- was D excited when he opened the email? I know I would be. :housekeeping:
I wish I lived near you! The book club and game nights are going to be a blast. You have everything all figured out and are making it so cozy and friendly.

@Cherylndesigns What a sweet boy Sam was at the vet. It's like how a toddler is so well-behaved at school but a monster at home (read: Caitlyn at 3 yo)
I had seen some headlines of storms in OK, glad that your power came back relatively quickly. Scott has a sterno coffee pot that he used on hikes and for camping that he loves. It's lightweight and boils water quickly. If you want, I can ask him what brand it is.

HAGD!! xoxo

Good morning. Enjoying a slow start to the day since Juneteenth is a holiday where I work. For me, it is an unpaid holiday. But I don't care...another day to hang out with the kids and be happy. Yesterday was good. We went to lunch at a new place...most places are new to us...and the kids each had the Father's Day special of 2 lobsters and an ear of sweet corn. Brian had a burger and I ate biscuits and gravy. Then came home for the afternoon and snuck in a nap. We headed over to the beach for a 6:00 rocket launch but didn't see anything. Must have been too much cloud cover.

Today, the landscaping guy comes back to finish it up. I should have my butterfly garden at the end of the day. And I think that I'm going to put my hummingbird feeder out there. I'm really excited about that. I am thinking about getting a pretty glass bird bath to put on the ground. We will see.

@faerywings so glad that everyone had a good Father's Day. I know what you mean about being on my feet all day for those family dinners. Big dinners are so hard nowadays.

I'll be back in a bit. Have a good day!

Good morning ladies. I was up early and watched the early airing of Kelly and Mark. They had J. D. Morgan on as a guest. He's one of my fave actors. Last night I PVR'd the first episode of TWD Dead City and the promo show last night so will watch that later. I need to pop out for bird food this morning. I was busy all day yesterday. D wanted steak, potato salad and garlic bread for dinner with carrot cake dessert. I had coleslaw and a hamburger (no bun). In the afternoon,

D and I picked up 3 chairs for the media room, a brand new charcuterie board with a glass dome lid and 2 canvas prints for the walls. Now I can start to pick photos to enlarge and frame to accompany those on the wall. I found another new charcuterie board, a big rectangular one with a pull out tray that stores the cutting knives/slicers. The seller is out of town but coming to Kamloops on Wed so I'll meet up with her and I'll be able to buy it for 1/3 of the cost. I was pricing them over the wkend. I ordered more playing pieces for our sequence game. I have 2 folding game tables, to accommodate two different games and also have two other big surface low cabinets for two player games. So we'll be able to have up to about 12-14 people at a time. It's kind of funny that I had only two friends last year that I didn't spend a lot of time with and now this year I have met so many more and am making plans every week for at least 1-4 activities. I'm not out taking as many photos but I'm ok with the balance of socializing and photo walks.

We watched an amazon prime movie Abandoned...don't bother. It was hokey. Jen and I wanted to watch an older horror movie...The House That Jack Built but couldn't find it online so D picked the other...bad choice.

I'm heading out for bird seed in a few minutes. They gobbled up the morning seed in an hour and the bag is almost empty so I'll head out soon. All the babies are learning to fly and we have at least double our normal. Sometimes I look out and see 40-50 little sparrows and finches in the trees and feeders.

@faerywings Sounds like a good day yesterday. That's so cool that you have a hummingbird coming. I still haven't seen one at our feeder.

@LSlycord I'm so jealous!!! A butterfly garden and you'll have a hummingbird feeder there. That is going to be awesome!

I'd better get dressed and get over to the store for the bird food. HAGD everyone.

Good morning ladies... Happy Juneteenth! What a whirlwind of a weekend we had!! Saturday was our usual running around and getting some yard work done, then we spent the afternoon at SIL Linda's helping her get her house back in order. Her new flooring is all done and it looks great! Sunday was spent cleaning and prepping for Father's Day Dinner and my Gary got in some long conversations with Daughter Heather and Son Jason! So nice because usually he doesn't get to talk to them much I usually do while he putters around in the background LOL. Everyone stayed well into the night and this morning I am dragging my feet a bit and there isn't enough coffee in the world to get me going again :coffeedrinker:. I need to catch up here at the O and so hopefully will get started on another layout for one of the challenges. I really don't feel like doing too much today, so it will be good to just sit in front of the computer most of the day. My Gary was great and cleaned up all the dishes and put away most of the mess, so I hope to maybe get the vacuum out and tidy up a bit more, but that's it!!

@faerywings - Sounds like you had a great time with your special guys yesterday!! Yes it is a long day of being on your feet and I never sleep very well after a day like that. So nice that you finally got a hummingbird at your feeder, now that they have found it I am sure there will be more! You can get a little cup attachment to put on top of your feeder that you fill with water and that keeps the ants from getting to your feeder. It works really well! Or they say if you rub bay leaves around your feeder, ants hate the smell and won't come.

@LSlycord - So happy for you to have your Syd back at home with you!! Glad she is settling into the new house and that you will have such a lovely garden area to spend time watching the birds and butterflies! Enjoy your day off of work!!

@bcgal00 - You are one busy lady!! Getting things all in order for your book club and the media room is sounding like it will be the perfect place for your get togethers and game nights!! Lucky D getting maid service for Father's Day!! Such a great gift!

Ok I better get another coffee and get on with cleaning up a bit. Heather will be calling soon, so I should really get showered and dressed before she does!

Good morning all.

I'm hung over from partying too much - j/k I mean here at The O. What a fun time. Well, the games area all closed. It went by so fast. Chris @faerywings please find out what Scott uses for heating. I looked on Amazon and there are SO many and my head started spinning. I want one that works - want to be prepared for the next power outage because I missed my tea. Yes, Sam was an angel at the vet. Adrienne and I were shocked - we warned them that he was probably going to come out of his carrier kicking and screaming, but he was a doll.

I worked out in the gardens yesterday for about two hours - I was waiting for it to rain so the ground would soften up and we got that rain. The thistles are trying to invade my flowers and I finally got some gloves that I can pull them out with. They're double leather palms and back of the hands and have plastic "sleeves" that come up to my elbows. They're also made to work in roses - which I don't have, but they're amazing. Bye-bye thistles. That darned Johnson Grass is trying to take root again and I think I got all of the "starts" out. Living in the country, with woods right beside our house brings all sorts of "visitors" to our gardens. We do have some beautiful wild flowers again this year, though. I love them. I also pulled weeds that were right up alongside the house - the ground was so soft and I got one side of the house done. Next time it rains, I'll tackle the other side.

We haven't had many hummingbirds this year. Chuck did some research and I guess they don't always go to the same place year after year. Last year, we had hundreds of them. We couldn't keep the feeders full. We've seen a few on the flowers and we have so many beautiful butterfles this year - even Monarchs and some beautiful black ones.

I'm going to cut this short because Ava just called and told me to come up to the pool. I guess we're hanging out there for awhile then heading into town.

HAGD all.

Good Afternoon!
Yesterday was a bad headache day, unfortunately! Went to bed with it and woke up with it again today. However, it is finally beginning to wane! Thank You, Lord!
Raining here today and that is about the story for the week. Rain off and on. Highs in the 70's and lows in the 60's.
That about it for me.....short and sweet!
Listening to an audiobook and working on a blog post for my youngest's 38th birthday tomorrow! I can't believe my baby is going to be 38! Where did life go?!
Have a great day!
