Hello, O-zies, and a very happy Monday to you all.

I wish there was some way to send you our weather, it's sunny and cool again and I would love to share.

Did you have a good weekend? The party for my niece was perfect, much smaller than I was anticipating which was nice. I was able to talk to everyone. I gave my SIL a huge hug and told her I would not have survived the mom-anxiety of house hunting if it weren't for her. I am also in love with their dog, Mac. He is the sweetest boy. He's a year and a half and has so much puppy energy. he had the zoomies all over the backyard. I spent a lot of time talking to him, too. hehe- I just spent more time than I have to look for this one meme but maybe you know what I am talking about. It's how you go to a party and you spent all of your time hanging with the dogs instead of the humans. That's me. :D One reason that I love my extended family-- we all do the same thing. (as one should LOL)
And just sayin'-- my SIL had several vegan options for Tom to eat. mmm-hmmm :nod1:

I have tons of stuff to do today. Mostly smaller, catch-up-on-life kind of things. I am planning on going to the library for the Coloring Crew this afternoon. I know that I said that last week, but look what happened, I got stung by a yellowjacket and spent the rest of the day in pain. Not to mention, MIL handed me a bag of faery coloring books so I took that as a sign I should go.

I also have another social experiment to run with you all. (yup, here she goes again! :giggle4: ) I read another article on how your brain forms pathways and neural connections when you talk about yourself negatively. The longer you do it, the stronger the connections become and the negative thoughts are easier to be recalled and reinforced. In case you haven't noticed *G*, I do that a lot. I would never talk to another person the way I talk to myself, that's for sure. I know that it is important that I recognize/accept my shortcomings, such as my social anxiety, but I also know that blaming myself for them is not healthy. The article suggests that one of the best ways to weaken the connections is by starting your day with positive thoughts and gratitude. No big surprise there, there is a ton of research that backs that up. But I am going to start up Gratitudes again. We did this before when Covid first took over and I know it helped me very much. Feel free to join me but absolutely no pressure either way.

Today, I am grateful for my family who care about the things I care about. They make me feel good about being part of the fam ♥

@vickyday Lantern flies look really cool, I'd love them if they didn't destroy everything and reproduce so much. SIL told me one building near her house had a wall that was covered entirely with them. I don't mind bugs but that is way too many of anything.
Glad to hear that your temps will be a least a little cooler.
The dessert looks yummy!

@bcgal00 That is awful about the medical care near you. :( We in the US hear about how awful Canadian health care is and I know I have heard that it's better in some places than others-- where you are sounds just brutal. Would it make any sense to make some appts back in Vancouver with your old doctors and make a few days trip out of it? Is the Amazon Clinic available in CA? Not sure if that would be any better at getting a diagnosis for several things at issue.
I hope that you are able to move next spring, maybe things will improve with the market soon. *fingers crossed*

@Cherylndesigns WE HAVE RUINED KAY!
@BrightEyes I apologize that our day-date confusion has spread to you now. All of that yummy salad stuff will keep you happy this week. How was your scanning photos PJ day?
Thank you for the suggestion of dish soap for killing the lantern flies. A lot of people on my local FB group page gave been suggesting vinegar but I am concerned that will kill my bees and butterflies too. Maybe the dish soap will be better, I'll look more closely at that :)

@Cherylndesigns Between you and Kay, you are both giving me a run for my money in the Crazy Dreams Dept. :rotfl: I can imagine how awful it made you feel. Yikes :(
Floating in the pool sounds like the best way to spend the day, quiet and relaxing and cool!

BTW- the garlic knots and "cheesy" dip were a hit! It's not really all that hard to accommodate for Tom to eat. Obviously, not everything can be, but Diane (SIL) and I did fine. (Sorry, I think I am still way too salty about the b-day cake, I mean, c'mon- it was *his* birthday!..... :oops2: I started again )

Better get my day started. Hugs!!

Good morning.

I'm the second one to post - stop the presses - that can't be. It scares me because I woke up early yesterday and couldn't go back to sleep - I finished up a lo then thought I'd lay back down and that's when I had that dream. It was very real and I was glad to wake up.

Chris @faerywings I'm so happy that the vegan food was a success, as was the party. I have a bunch of memes saved, but I don't have the one you're looking for. I can just see that cute dog and that's so cute that he was doing the zummies. Our dogs do that when they get together.

I missed Kay's post, but Dawn dish soap is good for lots of pests - even ants - they lose their "trail" in it. I always use Dawn specifically. Hey Kay @BrightEyes IT'S MONDAY!!! Chuck started in yesterday telling me he thought it was Saturday. I told him to not even go there with me - that I had the day right and not to confuse me. :floorlaugh:

I got a lot of "housekeeping" done here yesterday evening - I was way behind with posting my stuff in the CT thread. I think I got a little carried away with CP this time. Whew I finally caught up! I did way too many CP layouts! I have to finish one more LO for the Art Journaling, week 4. It's done, I just need to look at it one more time and then upload it. Then I need to catch up on the Color Play layouts thread.

Hugs to everybody who comes on here after me - boy does that sound weird to be on here this early. Don't expect it all the time, though. It's an anomaly :floorlaugh:

Just kidding - Chris @faerywings I just re-read the end of your post. I love your social experiment. There are reams and reams of research of "self-talk". It can have such bad effects on us and I have to be careful about it, too. I've been better since we live in such a beautiful area - all I have to do is go sit on my front porch and soak in the beauty of nature. I have gotten a lot better about it and have learned to "call myself on it". Thanks for bringing this up.

Today I'm going to be grateful for my strength. My inner strength, yes, but also my physical strength. I work at my physical strength, by doing my workouts and now I've added weight training. I'm going to use any self-talk to reinforce how strong I am.

Good morning ladies. I just left a message at our walk-in clinic (but not a walk in anymore, its a phone-in and see if you make it onto the list). I told them I have shingles and should probably be checked. Not sure if I need medication or not or if it will just be left to heal on its own. I am worried about the nerve damage some people get so hopefully that won't be me. I have had it for about 8-9 days, on the side of my stomach. It hasn't grown bigger, thankfully. The pain is uncomfortable but not excruciating as I've heard others say. I swear, every day I just don't know what my body is going to do. I now wonder if I am experiencing the hormonal changes I thought were causing the warmth I am feeling or if that is related to the shingles. So maybe I'll see the clinic and get some answers, we'll see if I get a call back today and if not, I'll try again tomorrow morning at 7. That's how it works, you call in at 7 a.m., if you get thru you leave your name and number and maybe they'll call you back later in the day. If not, you try again the following day but they only accept calls for a few minutes when they open.

We all discussed moving yesterday and b/c we have the two cruises coming up, we all agree that we'll put the house on the market in March or April and then D and I will fly to Calgary to look at homes and the different areas in the suburbs. It's all going to boil down to whether or not we get a buyer for our home b/c with the interest rates, it is a terrible time for buyers in BC but...some homes are selling so hopefully we will.

Today, Jen is driving to Vancouver for some banking stuff but this should be the last time she has to go to Vancouver for anything. D is going with her and will go visit my oldest daughter and her MIL who lives with them (they are lifelong friends). I'll stay home with the dogs and hopefully get into the clinic later but if not, I don't feel I'd like a long drive anyway.

@faerywings I can't go back to my doctor, he refused me b/c we left the city. Have fun with the coloring crew today. Should be a fun social time.

I'm getting coffee and getting dressed in case the clinic calls and I can go in. I feel that that they didn't call yet so I wasn't a lucky one today. Maybe tomorrow.

HAGD everyone.

Happy Monday!
I've been balancing my checkbook today! Can I just say that I absolutely H.A.T.E. that job! I always put it off, usually for a whole month, until my bank statement is out. I have a good idea about how much FREE money I have over the month (not much) but it varies month by month depending on how many grandkids are having birthdays (when you divide 18 kids by 12 months, well, there's bound to be at least 1!), extra medical stuff I THOUGHT Medicare would pay for.....GRRR! THAT's a complaint for another day! Today, @faerywings , I'm thankful the checkbook balanced and all extra expenses are covered.....so far!
I found out today that my stomach issues on Friday may have been because I hung out with Ilene on Thursday. Friday she was very sick with a stomach virus! I'm glad mine didn't hit me the way hers did! NUF said!
I guess I will work on making some more salsa this afternoon before the tomatoes sitting on the table become too ripe to use! I've got enough for a couple more batches, which is 6 cups of diced tomatoes! I don't mind doing it, it is just so time consuming! I'll just listen to my audiobook while I mindlessly dice the ingredients!
Have a great day!

I pray you get a callback from the clinic today, Rae! My dad had shingles. It was pretty painful for him. He had it on his neck and up into his face. He couldn't shave for a long time! :hug2:

Morning gals. Back to sleeping late. :giggle4: Won't do that tomorrow as I have a 9AM appointment for the 1st oil change on my new car. Have to LOL - it is the 9 month one - or 8000 miles - and I only have 500 miles on it!!! :floorlaugh: The nice thing is that is free - part of the coverage when I bought the car. Will take a book with me and read while it is done.

I did spend yesterday afternoon sorting through Aunt Mary's photos to pick out the ones I will use to tell one story from their life. Had over 60 from then spread out over the kitchen table to choose from... finally got it down about 20 that I will scan in. It will need to be a double page LO with journaling on both pages. I know I won't use all of photos - but will play around to see which ones really help to tell the story.

I cut up the mini-watermelon and oh... it is so sweet! I had it along with a cheeseburger for supper last night.

Need to get the laundry sorted and started soon. I have several things that need to be hand-washed and hung to dry. It is always a challenge of where to put the hangers while the items drip dry.

@faerywings ,@Cherylndesigns , @bcgal00 , @vickyday , @BrightEyes and anyone else who pops in here today...
Good afternoon everyone!! Yup its me back from the dead!! Its been a chaotic month and the chaos is just going to get worse LOL. It has been hot and dry here with only one day of rain all month. We are lucky not to have any fires around us though. Anyway I just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone and tell you how much I miss all of you! It has been good for me though to take this time to just get things done and now I am pretty much ready for the onslaught of adults and children that will fill the house up with laughter and love!! I am so excited to see them all again! The first week will be crazy busy with the In-Laws 70th wedding anniversary and then so many other activities that they have planned for that week. We are happy to find out that my Brother's son and family from Australia will be here and the kids will be getting together for the first time in years!! This week I will be getting all of the groceries to feed the clan and some pool noodles and toys as we have purchased a 15 ft above ground pool, its filling up as we speak. It should be a great place to spend some hot summer days in the backyard! I am sorry that I have not been here to keep up to date with all of you, but my life has been pretty busy and I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and ready to just relax and enjoy my time with my family!! I will see all of you at the end of August! Sending you all lots of hugs and good wishes for a wonderful month ahead!! :bye2:.
