Happy August!!!
I always have mixed feelings about this month due to years and years of back-to-school conditioning. Trying to squeeze in beach time and school shopping. Hot weather, but shorter days. It has been a long time since I had to do any of that but I still feel that way. And this year is the first since 2000 that no one is actually going back to school. (Not unless Caitlyn gets a job there, but still isn't the same.)

How was everyone's weekend?
I was able to do a lot on my To-Do list. I even went outside and took photos and sketches of my gardens to start a garden journal. I am notorious for planting and moving things and I never remember where I moved or what is a weed or not. I had three plants pop up a few weeks ago that I don't remember planting. I finally took a photo for the Plant ID app. Thank goodness I didn't pull them out, they are milkweed. I planted a new cosmo behind them, prior to them coming up. Now I need to figure out when/if I should move the cosmo somewhere else.
I found an online garden planner that I can do rough plans of the different areas but it is more focused on vegetables rather than flowers. That is going to make it a bit more work for me but *shrugs* I guess if it helps... why not?

I had a blast playing with the rats and took so many pics to send to Caitlyn. 99.999999% are blurry. Those babies do not stay still at ALL! Poor Otter was sneezing a lot so I need to keep an eye on her. (And yes, I did send a medical report to her mama LOL)

Love to all!

Forgot to share that it rained last night!!! Not a lot but I will take whatever I can get. Scott had sprouted Paw Paw seeds and asked me to plant them for him so hopefully, they got a good soaking overnight. Yay!

@BrightEyes Sorry that the rain kept DD#3 away but it was much smarter for her to stay off of the roads. Hope that grandson is able to stop by to get the extras before they go overripe. Can you freeze plums to use in baking later? I don't eat plums so I have no idea what else you can do with them.
Very smart to take a test before the ladies come by this week. Glad you are negative.

@bcgal00 Thank goodness the weather is going to cool off this week. Hope you aren't too pruney from being in the pool :D

@Cherylndesigns I know exactly what you mean and how your mind works. Mine too!
That would be great to sell the lease back to the dealership, and yes, 10K miles-- very low. Besides the Equinox, what are the other cars you are looking at?
It is awful of me but I am sort of (OK-- honestly more than sort of) laughing at the dogs running off. I can do that since I know they are home safe. But I can just picture them off and running and barking and having a blast on their own. It's terrifying when they run off- I will never forget when we were having construction done and the contractor let my dog escape while I was out.
Bet Cici is very happy to have everyone back home too :D

@Amandajk Yay!!!! Welcome to the craziness and love of the Ooos!! I have been starting the Daily Ooos for more years than I can remember and it is the highlight of my morning.
[Disclaimer: Always gotta say this-- the Daily Ooos are not mine nor am I the only one allowed to open the threads. This is for all of us so if there isn't an open thread for the day- no one has to wait for me to start one. :) ]
Pyrenees/Shepard-- he must be gorgeous but yes, needs lots and lots of space. Lots!
Hope the weather cools down soon. I live in NJ and the humidity has been disgusting but not as bad as SC, for sure.

xoxo

Greetings, Chris, and Everyone!

I haven't been in this thread for a while. I'm finally finding a bit more time these days. And, the last couple of months have been difficult for me physically, but I'm beginning to feel better.

Chris I so wish I could send you some of our rain, and the accompanying thunderstorms. It's been an everyday occurrence for weeks. Our heat and humidity have been awful this year, not like any in the thirty-something years I've been in this area of NC. Don't want to even think of what it might be this month.

Not as cool this morning as we didn't have rain last night to help bring the temp down. So will be a short time on having the house opened up. As it happened, grandson forgot he was to come by and get the plums after work yesterday. DD#3 is going to text him right before he gets off today to remind him to come over. LOL If he forgets... she will come get them. She has PT nearby late this afternoon. No, @faerywings ... the plums are too small to freeze then use to cook with later. Most are about the size of a Ping-Pong ball with a fairly large pit.... which means you can eat several of them at one time. :)

@Betty Jo so glad to see you popping in again!!! You have been missed. Hope that you are doing better finally.

@Amandajk - No, I don't live in Texas - I am in Albuquerque/Rio Rancho metro area in New Mexico. We moved from Corpus Christi back to our home state of NM in 2000. Glad to see you popping in here, too.

Had to get the layout for Color Palette Challenge that I am hosting in the gallery first thing this morning. Yes, gals... I am back to doing some CT work again. Last month was the pits struggling with computer woes and making the change over to DH's computer. Still have some changes to make with the PSE as it doesn't have my favorite fonts and some actions. I do have them saved on the ExHD so it is a matter of taking time to get them loaded.

Been monitoring my BP for over a week and it is finally back into the 'normal' range for me... not having lows the past few days, thank goodness. Starting to feel better so guess I am getting over 'whatever it was'. But I will take it slow and ease back into CT duties this month.

Got a call from DSon#1 last evening. So good to talk to him and catch up on what is happening with him and his wife. Looks like they will be traveling through here early next month and will spend a night with me.

Time to close the house up and grab another cup of coffee.

Thanks so much, Kay @BrightEyes. So, glad you are doing well with your computer now. I nearly went out of my mind when I had to switch over to a new computer a few months back. I still don't like the new Windows 11 and it takes so much time now to do any of my scrap work, but I'll eventually get used to it. Windows has promised to bring back some of the necessary things in the fall that they removed from W11. I sure hope they keep their promise, but won't hold my breath.

Glad you're feeling better too. Like you, I'll be closing up soon, and I am joining you for another cup of coffee. ♥

Good morning ladies. @faerywings I beg to differ...the daily-ooos is kinda your thing :) You unofficially have been running this thread for yrs and we only take over if you are away or sick. So, yes, it is kind of yours.

The day flew by yesterday. We spent all afternoon in the pool. The temps are going to drop down to the low 90's/high 80's after today so will a little easier for the dogs. We'll take them to the river later today before dinner b/c they need a little exercise and the parking lot is only 50 feet or so to the water so won't be too hot on their feet for those few minutes.

I ordered compression packing cubes yesterday. I've been watching videos on packing suitcases and these kept coming up. Can't wait to get them next week. It will save space so I should be able to get away with one large and one small suitcase. I figured it was worth it to buy them now and then will get to reuse them next year when we go on a 3 wk panama canal cruise and they will really come in handy for that trip.

I want to make a crockpot dish for tomorrow. I have been craving hamburger stroganoff. I haven't used the crockpot or instant pot since moving here, I think it's time to start varying our meals a bit.

@Betty Jo Glad to hear you are starting to feel better.

I'm getting more coffee and going to check out the new challenges.

Thanks so much, Rae @bcgal00. Those compression packing cubes sound awesome. Wow! A 3 wk Panama Canal cruise. How about compressing me and taking me along?? ;)

@BrightEyes Kay, I see we cross posted. Glad to hear your BP has been under control and you are getting back into scrapping again. So, all the files are copied over now? Good for you. I still haven't done mine.

@Amandajk Welcome to the daily ooos. It is so nice to pop in and say hi to each other. Some of us have been doing it for a lot of years, others come and go...anything goes. We're always happy to hear from anyone.

OK, time for more coffee.

@Betty Jo Sure, I'll get you into a compression cube and stuff you in my suitcase #crazy

After not having a vacation for many years and not travelling anywhere except across the border into Washington to go to our trailer, going on two cruises within a 12 month period seems unreal to me. Alaska was my pick and the Panama Canal has been on D's bucket list for a long time.

Yayyy! Looking forward to it, although I don't do very well in small enclosed spaces. Hmmm . . .
I hope your trip(s) are wonderful.

Good afternoon my Lovelies,

I can't believe I'm just getting on here - well, I can believe it - Alyssa's been here already and Adrienne just left. So, it's 1 PM already and I'm just starting.

Chris @faerywings I had to laugh at your 99,999 were blurry pictures of the rats. I'm sure Cait doesn't care - at least she got them. Glad you're having fun with them! You're going to have to do what I do with your plants - I have to put little marker thingies in the middle of them so I remember what they are. My flowers I know, but the herbs I cannot remember. I made all of my plant "markers" out of wine corks last year - a "Pinterest Moment". They were cute, but the "NO RUN" sharpie markers "RAN" and all of it washed off. BWAHAHA Bad idea - I used the plastic ones that came with the plants this year and "buried" them right in the middle of the herbs. I'm sick because the main herb I wanted - Dill - died from the extreme heat. I lost 3 of my herbs and Dill was one of them. UGH The rest made it.

The cars on our list are the Equinox, Blazer,Trailblazer (they're different) and there's a new Cadillac SUV XT4 - they'll all be about the same monthly payment and they're all basically the same size. Chuck gets a nice discount because of working for GM. I've about nixed the Cadillac (although I'd love one) because the nearest dealership is in Tulsa. The other cars we can have serviced here. I don't like to think of going to Tulsa for everything. He kind of wants the Cadillac. We're going to go to the dealership here and drive the first 3. I'm leaning toward the Trailblazer - I had 3 of them before they quit making them and loved them. I'm excited that they're making them again! If you didn't know it, we're kind of into cars. Hahahaha

Yes, I agree about the girls - can't you just hear them - "We're FREE!!!!!" I'm sure they had the time of their lives running like the wind. Chuck kept reassuring her that they'd come home. It's just that darned road that we were worried about.

Betty Jo @Betty Jo we've missed you! It's SO nice to see you back!

Rae @bcgal00 those compression things are great! I know you're getting excited!

Kay @BrightEyes we're having the same weather again. It's a little warmer today - yesterday was relatively cool and we got a good amount of rain for a day and then on and off rain after that. I swore that as soon as it rained and the ground got soft, I was going to pull my weeds and I did. My front gardens look so much better. Glad your BP is leveling out.

Amanda @Amandajk it's SO good to see you dropping in!! Like I told you, we have a lot of fun in here - so don't be a stranger! I'm not usually quite as chatty as today, LOL.

Betty Jo @Betty Jo stop in more often, ok????

Have a good Monday everybody. XOXO

Thanks, Cheryl. I'll try to keep up. I think I'm doing this wrong, replying each time I'm tagged. I'll get the hang of it again soon. So, you're getting a new car. I really need a new vehicle but with prices as they are right now, it's just not a possibility. Sorry about your herbs. Maybe dill would be best in a pot that you can move in and out of the heat. (I don't have a clue, just guessing.) ♥

Thanks, Betty Jo - you might be right about the dill - I guess it's more "tender" than the others. I REALLY wanted that one, too. We have to get a car by Feb when our 3 year lease is up. We're fortunate because with the super low mileage and the crazy car situation these days, our SUV is actually worth more than when we got it. Crazy huh??? My oldest DD had an SUV that they bought, not leased, and the dealership called them and offered to buy it for more than they paid - they sold it. They're down a car, but they have cars that she can use. Our gd, Alyssa used ours today. LOL Share and share alike.

You can "keep up" however is easiest for you on here - sometimes, I reply to each post and sometimes I just use the @ sign. Depends on my mood. We're happy you're here - however you want to do it! #kiss3#kiss3

Betty Jo, I will be glad to send some rain from S. Louisiana. It rains every afternoon
Rae- Panama Canal sounds great.

Weather is consistent. Hot and humid in the 90's and humidity of 60% until the afternoon when somewhere between 12-8 it rains, either a deluge or just constant showers which is pretty normal for LA. We have rainy seasons and I dare say, after a completely dry and misearably hot June, July brought rain every day and August has started off the same.

DH and I along with old freinds from our Navy days (met 21 years ago) and they live in town, we all went to the zoo with our 2 1/2 yo grandson who was a doll. It was miserably hot but he was an absolute trooper through it all and made sure to remind "yam" (can't say "gram) that "I am ok". He rode in the stroller, ran around, played in the play yard. We left the zoo just as the sprinkle started and we watched "Paw Patrol" in the afternoon. I want to spend as much time with him before his "big boy preschool" starts on the 15th. I will be picking him up from preschool at 12:00 pm and he will spend the afternoon with us, hopefully in the pool as it will remain warm until early Sept. Happy Days O and a good month.

Ahhhh! Today was under 100 F in temp/heat index. Got to use my front porch a bit. :D Hard to see the struggles of some states, fires, flooding, (and even nations!). Definitely a time of need for prayers! My husband's biological family has many members in Eastern Ky. Some were affected. We aren''t close to them so we d on't have details.
Please don't mind my funky typing. Grands got a lot of crumbs into my laptop despite banning food near it, so my keyboard is wonky and skips spaces, etc.
I am getting excited that the V.A. is finally moving on hubster's case!!! We are near the full disability which will help him alot, but also give me coverage. :)
We've been looking at RV's. Oh Boy! What a haystack!!! I had no idea how many kinds/options there are! ACK!!!! No wonder a blog post I read said they researched for two months before going and looking at 3 then buying!!! My head is spinning a bit from the past few weeks- details Reviews, reviews...!
If anyone has any experience please share!
