Well 2020, you are drunk. You need to go home and go to bed. Wake up on New Year's Eve so we can all shove you into the bin of history.
It really snowed last night. It only stuck to the cars and patches of grass but it actually snowed in May. I am so done with this weather! This year! Argh!!! *collapses in a very dramatic heap*

Yesterday was *not* a good day and it didn't get any better. After I signed off here, I went to get showered and ready for the day. There is a wasp in my bathroom and while I have a pretty strict relocate rather than kill bug policy, that doesn't extend to ticks or wasps. It was on the floor so I threw the pile of dirty clothes on top of it and pressed down. Lifted them up, he is still moving. Got a magazine and whacked him a few times. Still moving. He was clinging to a corner of the t-shirt so shook him to the toilet bowl. Still moving. Flush. Doesn't go down, still moving. This becoming a horror version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and I know there ain't gonna be a beautiful butterfly at the end. I don't like killing any living creature and I know that he does not have the brain capacity to feel emotion but still, I am anthropomorphizing him and apologize to this drowning wasp that will not flush!! I close the lid, wait a few minutes. Lift the lid up and HE IS SILL MOVING! I am practically in *tears* over this. He finally flushes so I can move on with my day. I am so rattled by this that when I go to put my contacts in, I put the left one in my right eye. I grab it out but then I realize that I already took the right one out of the case and I cannot remember which one was which. I put them in, can't see great, take them out, they don't feel right, Is one inside out? I can't tell.
I. Am. A. Mess!!

Later on, Gary and I set a canopy up over the rhodo yesterday and Mama Robin was in and out often. I don't want to go check on the nest. Gary will have to do it and let me know.

Due to my mental state, I didn't get much of anything done. I did a few chores around the house, made a card to email to all of the moms tomorrow, played with the rats a bit.

Today is FP and then ShopRite.
And then :yarpirate
It be Pirate Night!

Gary and Scott are having the tilapia, Cait and I -baked mac and cheese made with shells. I am making pretzel rods dipped in dark chocolate (peg legs) and have puffed cheese balls as long as they are in the shopping order (cannon balls). Treasure cookies for dessert- choc chip/coconut/pecan cookies.
Drinks are pina coladas and mojitos!

Gratitudes:
-family
-Pirate Night
-the sun is out even those it is super cold

sending love to all of you! xoxo

Sharon- I am so glad that your dad's home will be testing! How awesome to be able to video chat with him too.
How long before the baby is able to come home? Is he growing well?

Trudy- so when you do online shopping, there are spots open for that day or the day after? That is mind-boggling to me-- Here, they are booked solid for up to 10 days in advance and it is like winning the lottery when you happen to fall into one. I was able to get this spot for today b/c someone posted in my town's FB page that there were a couple of spots up the mountain open. If I had logged in a little later I would be been SOL! I am so happy that you were able to get everything you needed.
I am heartbroken for my country, this admin seems to be doing everything in the most corrupt way imaginable and is ignoring the health and safety of its people. North New Jersey is starting to flatten and is NYC. We have had no new cases in my town for two days but have recorded another death- we have 354 (known) cases and now 26 deaths in just in my town. :(
How much snow did Heather get, hopefully no more than we did but I bet she got more.
My BFF opened her pool last week, she was asking what to if it freezes! I suggested having the kids do polar bear plunges LOL
How are Sadie and Isaac doing?

Nancy- You are doing fab with the walks. Don't blow away if you go out today!
Oh wow, the breads and rolls sound sooooooo delicious! Great score at the supermarket!
Is it going to finally warm up next week? I think I am too scared to look hahaha!!
The fairy scenes are adorable, I can't wait to see how you scrap them.
My goodness, I feel like I am just gonna keep on complaining, but instead, I am going to :tape: and be happy and hopeful that your town is able to close off main street so they can open it up for pedestrians.

Kay- I am so happy that you had a good trip to the base/commissary. Congrats on that last pack of TP :p
It is exhausting having to do all of the extra steps but if it keeps us healthy that is a good thing. Glad you were able to take a nap!

Felis- whoo hooo!!!! That is wonderful news!!!!! I hope that you are able to continue on that path of few and no cases of COVID. Be safe as things re-open.
I don't miss shopping either. I only miss the ability to run out quickly and easily if I needed something. I hope that you get your good Irish coffee soon.
I am struggling with recycling issues too. I usually recycle all of my plastic bags and use reusable ones fo shopping. We can't use them and the stores don't have the bins to recycle plastic bags anymore. I gave so many piled up but nowhere to take them so I have had to throw some out.
My SIL suggested a Zoom Party for the kids but we will have to see how they feel.

Better get going, I have to wake Cait up to take me to the FP.

Yesterday we could sometimes see "visible precipitation" that didn't stick (it was in the 40s!) but woke today to a white garage roof and other bits of snow. By the time I tried to take pictures, most was gone, but still . . . on May 9?

Yesterday I had a nice find. I'm going through a few years' worth of genealogy magazines, keeping a very few and some articles from others and putting the most in recycle. From 5 years ago I found a short article on a project on early Vermont (to 1784) that hadn't meant anything to me then, but is just what I'm studying now. The online project hasn't gotten to the town I need, but I went to look again and found there is another database of index cards created for a 1980 thesis that is the starting point of the project (which I now understand from the old article). I found some new information and maybe some sources. Now if only libraries were open to field my questions.

Chris, wishing you a parrot for tonight! :yarpirate Sounds delightful. Hope the FP and store went well and had what you need. Sending big hugs and wishes for A's to the kids. :first:

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

OK the wasp story is funny! That sound like me. You are a great writer by the way, Chris. this has been quite a year hasn't it. It's like ground hog day...will it ever end. We got cool weather too, but not like you!

Scrap-genie- sounds like you are really into geneology.

The baby is doing great. 3 lbs 8 oz and growing. Learning how to use a bottle now. He only take about 3 ml of milk, but he will figure out the sucking/swollowing reflex soon and get the feeding tube out. He is getting some good color and has a personality all his own now! he is a mover and a fighter. He is now 8 1/2 weeks old now. DD showed a pic of her beside him and they look so much alike in the face.

Morning, gals.

Chris, you had me LOL over the wasp in the toilet....I would have been freaking-out along with you!! I can just see you dancing around as you squealed and kept flushing. Thanks for my laugh for the day.

Sharon, so glad to hear that the little one is learning how to suck from a bottle. He sounds like he has been a fighter from day 1. Nice that he is gaining weight, too. I know how much you would want to be with him and your DD.

Jean, so glad you found the article and more information! Great that you re-looked at the magazines before you tossed them out.

Nancy, hope you didn't blow away yesterday. We had high winds all day as cold front was moving across the state. It is much cooler today and we may get some rain tomorrow and Monday. Glad i made it to the base yesterday instead of waiting until next week.

I forgot to pick up some hamburger buns yesterday so guess I will use bread for my pulled pork sandwich for supper. Going to make a fruit salad to have with it. Will use apples, oranges, grapes and nuts with a Raspberry vinaigrette. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good Morning ladies... I can not believe how we are the total opposite from the East in our weather!! It is a beautiful sunny Saturday and we are going to be in summer like temps today! Yesterday we hit 27c. that's 80 degrees F. I managed to get in a long walk and make my card for Mason, chatted with all of my grands and their Mom's, everyone is doing well! Our son was in a video conference for his work, so I did not get to talk or see him  Hopefully I will hear from him tomorrow for Mother's Day! I started on a layout, but not sure if I will get it finished off today or not. DH and I will be getting our supplies for the re-do of the kitchen cabinets and hopefully spending a lot of time outside in the sun today! Rain is supposed to be on its way for next week and once the tap is turned on Mother Nature sometimes forgets to shut it off LOL.

Chris - Yes when I do my on-line shopping now I can get a spot for the next day and if I go on line during the week then I can even get a spot for the same day!! They have hired a bunch more shoppers for the store that I shop at and more delivery drivers too. I could have my groceries delivered but they ask that you save that service for the elderly or the disabled. I might continue to do on-line grocery shopping even once this is all over and done with, its pretty nice!! I am sorry that you had such a traumatic experience with the wasp! Had he stung you I bet you would have had no problem in ending his life or feeling the least bit bad about it!! I hate the darn things!! You are such a caring and kind hippy dippy faery!! LOL. Hope that the Mommy bird and her babies make it through your very cold snap that you are all experiencing! Mason was telling me that there is a nest on top of their hydro meter outside the house and that there are two blue eggs in it. He is worried that they will be too cold also. Sweet boy!! Hopefully his Dad will come with something to help them out! Your pirate night sounds great!! What fun you and your family have together! It warms my heart to hear how you all get along so well and have such love for each other! Good luck at the FP today! I hope you get everything you need!

Nancy - Wow good for you for getting in such nice long walks! So happy that your knees are holding up so well for you! I look forward to seeing your page with the little fairy scenes!! So cute! Thank you for the lovely compliment on my Raven page! I think that I will have to try to do some other birds.

Felis - Thank you too for the nice comment on my Raven page! I never thought of doing a series of wildlife, but perhaps that will be a good idea for the future! However done on a mug might be difficult and I would have to use different paint, so might be a tad expensive! I hope that you are enjoying a lovely weekend!!

Jean - Ugghh what horrible weather for the 9th of May!! Sure hope warmer temps are on the way for you next week!! What a great find you had with the magazine article!! Guess that is a good reason not to throw too much away LOL. Hope you can find someone on line that can answer your questions!

Sharon - How wonderful to hear that the baby is growing and doing so well! Once he gets the hang of the bottle and the swallowing he will grow in leaps and bounds!!

Ok off we go to home depot to get what we need, hope the line up outside is not too long. They only allow so many in the store at a time. Everyone is busy with renos while this Pandemic is going on so it could be very busy! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone! Sending you warm temps and sunshine from B.C.

Good morning to everyone *except* 2020. Yes, 2020 is still drunk. LOL

Thankfully, I am feeling a bit better ATM than I did the last two days. I am trying to stay positive about everything and the sun is helping. The day started out sunny yesterday but it never got over 41*. And snowed like mad in the afternoon.
Gary went out in the morning to check on the birds and they were all there. Cait and I were jumping up and down and hugging and cheering for Mama Robin. And Dad too. he has been close by through all of this. The canopy started to blow over with the strong winds and thankfully, I was out there when it happened so I could grab it. We had to take it down b/c we did not want it to get tangled in the bushes and knock the nest loose. But in the afternoon, the snow was coming down so hard, Gary and Scott went out and draped towels over the rhodo. I haven't been outside this morning so I hope that they made it through the night.

I was busy all day yesterday. FP at 10, wipe down all groceries-- we got frozen chicken!- shower. I made up the labels fo the Pirate food, then Cait and I went to pick up meds for Livvie (she has been sneezing a lot, rats are sensitive to respiratory illnesses so this is common), then the supermarket to pick up the regular grocery order (no chicken was available so I am happy that I got it at the FP!). Wiped down the groceries, one more quick shower, sat for a few minutes than Cait and I started baking and cooking the pirate food.
We listened to some Pirate Metal Music while we were at it. The kids have a fave Scottish-Canadian metal band and I can't remember their name, but they are fun to listen to. :D

My parents are popping up this morning for Mother's Day. I am sad, I have nothing for her. But I know that she is ok with that. She would normally say that she just wants a hug and I can't even do that.

Nothing else is happening today. Wishing all of you a very happy Sunday. If you celebrate Mother's Day in any way, I am wishing you all the very best day filled with love. And if you don't celebrate Mother's Day you get the exact same wishes. ::grouphug

Love to everyone!

jean- I got some pics of the snow yesterday, it was crazy! Did it snow again in the afternoon?
Serendipity!! Fab find with the magazine article! That makes me so happy for you! Are you able to get to any online resources/libraries fo the information or it is something that hasn't been fully digitized yet?

Sharon- heh, thanks for enjoying my wasp story and thanks for liking my writing. I am a WYSIWYG person and I tend to write the same way I talk, the only difference is that when I talk I wave my arms around a *lot.*
That is fantastic news about the baby!!! I hope that the feeding tube comes out soon. Sending him so much love!

Kay- I can't believe you are all laughing at my dismay over having to kill this wasp! :pound:
That stinks about forgetting the hamburger rolls, hate when that happens. So jealous of fresh produce... the salad sounds so good.

Trudy- I HATE YOU! I wanted to post that on your lovely photo of the wine glass on FB but I thought that non-O people would think I meant it. but wow, what a difference in weather and I wish I was getting to experience it. But I am thrilled for you. (really, I am!!)
Seems like you had a great day with the sun and the walk and the grands.
Did you get all of the kitchen supplies you needed? Make sure you take lots of photos so we can see the progress.
Tell Mason that I hope his birds do well too. We learned that robins lay one egg a day until they get 3-4. The dad stays with the mom while she incubates them. And then after a month, the babies are ready to leave the nest. Funny how my fam knows little bits of this and that, but nothing really about birds. He is such a sweet kid and I would love to hear how his babies make out!
I am in awe of your shop from home. Do you have the same social distancing that we have in NJ? They are only allowing 30% capacity in the stores at one time. I guess with only having the one supermarket in town, it means more people are shopping from home? As I have been saying NJ has been hit so darn hard. I read this morning that at 9,000 deaths, NJ has more than Germany and Japan *combined.* It is so horrible.
But on a happier note, my family warms my heart too, and thank you for saying that to me.
Oh, I see if I read farther down, you are limited inside of stores as well. So smart.

HUGS!!!!!

PS: Still can't remember the name of the metal band and googling for them is not helping LOL- but one of the songs is about "devil rats" on board a pirate ship and Cait and I have determined that they are talking about Evie- AKA Evil One

good morning - Happy Mother's Day! My son got me a bagel which is exactly what I wanted. He then headed up to his MG to celebrate with her. He got her a ninja foodie and they made dinner last night and they loved it. So happy for them. He was worried he was not with me (so sweet) but I told him to go. My DH and I will be out walking Luther soon. Yesterday we did go out in the afternoon and it was fun. We were cooking and Luther came bounding in as we had a snow squall come through. It was pretty cool because I knew it would not last or accumulate but it is a record. But my girlfriend came by and gave me one of her MIL's hand made quilts. She passed (not of Covid) and I had always loved her quilts. It was such a sweet thing for my girlfriend to do. I wished I could have hugged her. I will when all this goes away. Not much else going on.

Chris I am so glad to read you are doing better. I knew you would be getting snow. Thanks so much for saving the robins. That is so sweet! We had a baby grackle blown out of a nest which was in the top of the magnolia tree. So sad. Cant wait to hear how the Pirates night goes. Congrats on FP and pick up. But mostly thanks for that wasp story! They really are feisty bugs.

Trudy congrats on your weather. It seems it should head our way by the end of the week. Yea. As Chris said did Heather get a lot of snow? I guess Mother Nature wants hockey back too! Glad you got to talk to all the grands and your kids! Good luck in the kitchen!

Sharon that is awesome news about your grand! So happy he is gaining weight. I bet the feeding tube is out soon!

Kay sorry about the buns. But I am sure it tasted so good anyway. Hope the wind dies down!

Jean I cant believe our weather. Snow is crazy. Glad yours melted fast. That was cool about the article you found and how it has helped further your research. You are the best.

Grateful for family
Grateful for sun

Morning, O's... Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!!!

I am looking forward to the Family video chat late this afternoon. Now that I have the problem with the side-wise camera view straightened out, I can sit back just enjoy chatting with everyone. I had forgotten that today was my grandmother's birthday (my Mother's Mom) until I saw the date this morning. I remember how we used to wear a corsage - white flowers if our mother was deceased or pink/red if she was alive - to church. Wonder if anyone still does that??

I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich.. even tho it was on bread... for supper last night. I have a few other things I need to get so will make a list before I venture out again later on this week. Will wait until I need more fresh veggies/fruits.

Chris, glad you had a fun Pirates Day. Sounds like your family is really enjoying these Themed days. Yikes... snow in May!!! Brrrr... hope the eggs and mamma bird came through okay. Glad you caught the canopy before it blew away.

Nancy, how sweet it was for your friend to bring you the quilt from her MIL. I know you will treasure it. And snow for you, too!!! Crazy weather all over. They are saying we will be getting rain today and tomorrow. We need it. Right now it is sunny and clear with no wind. Hope that means the allergies will settle down.

Off to get dressed and figure out what to make for supper. CYL

Happy Mother's day, lOvelies!

2020 is so crazy and complicate, so all of you already had a situation where your children proved their strong and resistible characters in different ways. And this is because of you and the basis you gave them! I'm so proud, happy and grateful to know you girls!

Gratitudes:
all the strong female role models I have in my life!

It's not a holiday here, and it's not a happy day for me. I didn't plan to talk about that at bright day like this. And I'm kind of relief that most of you are already shared sad thoughts, as this left my hands free to join to the common pain. I also learned sad news that totally ruined my day. Life sucks!
Sorry if I sounds concise, I'll try to concentrate on you! You're the superstars today!

Chris, I know you'll finished nursing this birds, just hope you know what doing! Do you have someone to guide you wild animal hospital, or some of these sanctuary you visited? WOW, I can't believe it's snowing, here is so darn hot, at some moment I told: 'uhh, it's so hot that I wish Chris was able to take and keep the whole this summer for her"! It's not my cup of tea! It was hot like I'm in cup of tea! Hope Livvie is well!

Nancy, So sorry to hear for your friend's MIL!
Oh, so sweet from your son to worried that it's not with you! I'm sure that the other side's mother is has more need or he wouldn't do it!

Kay, I hope the video chat to be fun and distract you from your sad thoughts too! Looks like today most of us aren't in shape. I don't know anything about church etiquette, but if you feels need to notice the memory of your grandmother you should do it!

Jean, oh, so exciting about your new/old genealogy article! Do you check at the town you need, maybe now they have online courses like yours? And people there who can send you their researches. Good luck, my Nancy Drew!

Trudy, it's lovely to hear that you are enjoying your weekend and weather!

Sharon, that are great news about the little hero!
