Happy birthday to Olivia and Cordelia! Those cute babies are 3 years old today!

In rat years, they are old, as in geriatric old. They are still super sweet and are getting around really well even with their hind-leg degeneration and mammary tumors and glaucoma. I was getting soooooo many kisses from them when I was snuggling them yesterday. So many <3 I am going to have to give them extra treats today. Haha, as if they don't get spoiled enough as it is.

I had another successful to-do list day. Everything I needed to do was accomplished. Go me, go me!
It is all baby steps-- one of the things I got to cross off was emailing my SIL. Washing the dishes. But it helps. I have my list ready to go for today too.
Gary took apart the dishwasher door and sautered soutered- nope -- soldered (what a strange word/spelling) some parts of the control panel back together. Hopefully, that will keep it working for a little longer. He looked online for the part to replace it himself and it is discontinued. I had no idea that the dishwasher was 15 years old. I thought it was much newer- like 6-7 yo old. He can order a used part for $200+ but we can get a cheap new one for $300. If we wanted to get a better/energy efficient it would be over $700, but the catch for that-- everything is out of stock due to manufacturing/shipping delays with expected time to be back in stock---- in December. [faints]
Please let the soldering hold, pllllleeeeeaaase!!!

Scott and Leah made it to the festival safe and sound. They set up a group chat for us and texted when they were halfway and then when they were on-site. They will stay there until it is over on Sunday. They are stocked up with hand sanitizer, N95 maks/filters, Lysol wipes, anti-bac hand wipes, baby wipes, everything possible to keep them safe. Everything is outdoors and they will wear masks for the music portions. Everything else they will be able to social distance.
*tries to not worry too much*

Yeah- I hear you all groaning at me... as if I can not worry LOL!

Apparently, the storm that woke me up was really bad- a microburst hit the park where we take W to swim, 1/4 mile from my house. Trees all along the park were knocked over, roots ripped out of the ground. It makes sense that it was a microburst as opposed to just rain because the sound of the wind roaring is what woke me up, it had that growling sound, if you KWIM? Also, it makes sense seeing that the rain came about 18" inside my house which does happen with the window being underneath an overhang. The wind must have made the rain almost horizontal.

I am going to be working on the gnomes today, I want to get as much done with them as possible. Then I am going to tighten up the menu for next week so the next time someone asks what to bring I can give them an answer. My sister-in-law is bringing wine -- so I asked her to bring extra-long straws so we can hide somewhere and drink the wine straight from the bottle.

HAGD!!!!!

@mywisecrafts If you ever want to borrow my soapbox for your rants, I keep one under my desk. Feel free to drag it out anytime you want ;)
I said the same thing about teaching my kids how to drive but then DH got really sick and couldn't do it. It is probably better anyway, he is more of the typical aggressive NJ driver and I am much more laid back- I get there when I get there. (that is unless I have a rat who pulled out all of her surgical stitches and I have to get to the vet before they close and am stuck begins someone going well under the speed limit all the way up the mountain-- not so zen when that happens.)
Oh, no. A DD that is 12 going on 30. I had one of them. It gets easier. I *promise* ROTFLMOA! Seriously, it does. My DD and I butt heads terribly when she was that age but we are so close now.

@nancyr I will look for that show. We are watching Wanted also in AU and it takes me a few episodes to pick up the accents and slang too. We are also watching Shadow and Bone and that one not only has accents but completely new words to learn. I need to stick to shows that my ears are "tuned" to- like the Sopranos and My Cousin Vinny. haha!
You are such a good dog mom and friend, loose dogs always seem to find you :)
Thank goodness for the Driver's Ed to get the kids started but 6 hours is *not* enough to keep moms from getting heart attacks, right?? My dad taught me how to drive a stick and I hated it.

@Cherylndesigns Yipppeeeeee! Are you behaving and not overdoing being on the laptop?
Pro tip: Don't let Chuck see you doing that, play up the pain/inability to do things as much as possible when he is around. *evil grin*
I still can't get over the prices for cleaning. Seriously. And they split the money three ways? How do they make anything? I got $60 for 2 hours yesterday. I know NJ has a higher cost of living but can it be *that* different? I know I keep banging on about it, it is just mind-boggling to me.

@mywisecrafts if your kids conveniently miss their bus from school, I will put money on how that happened :D Have fun corraling them for the "party."

@tanteva Argh. Computers suck. All electronics do, same as with appliances. Can't live with them, most definitely cannot live without them. BTDT with wanting to throw the computer out the window. In fact, I think you were the one to talk me out of it.
I hope Urban is able to figure it out for you. It is handy having cute IT guys in our lives. *winks*
Did you at least have a nice dinner with your friend?

Let's put it this way: if you looked "smart-alecky" up in the dictionary, your photo would be there. Mine would be for the Synonym-- wise-a**

Love to all of you!

Yes. The dinner last night was great. No fancy food, but nice company and lots of laughs. I really like her new guy, he makes her happy and more relaxed than I've ever seen her (and I've known her for 48 years!).

The job situation is at a stand still. I don't think the boss had talked to the other co-worker yesterday. And now I don't work until Thursday, so they have a week to deal with it before I go there again.

Prepared a soup for dinner and I don't know if it's edible. Guess habanero is one of the HOT chilis. Urban will love it for sure. He loves spicy food.

Phone is driving me crazy with autocorrect. I hope Urban can sort the puter out tonight.

& congrats to the rats!

@faerywings DD and I usually get a long... but it definitely has it's moments. She's beginning hormones and I'm trying to wrap mine up!!! She's super emotional and I'm a suck it up buttercup type of gal.... LOL.

& we know that @Cherylndesigns isn't taking it easy.... I wouldn't be surprised if she is using speech to scrapbook now... LOL. Love you Cheryl!!!!:)

@faerywings since they don't take the bus..... they better be there at pickup!!!! Little do they know that I have the location tracking enabled on my son's phone..... LOL. I can find them....

@tanteva my photo would be with you next to smart alecky and with @faerywings for "wise......" and probably a few other descriptive words as well.

Morning everyone! Yes I know I was MIA again yesterday! What a crazy day I had, one of those days where everyone phoned me and talked and talked about nothing in particular. I would hang up the phone and within a few minutes it was ringing again!! LOL Oh well it was good to catch up with my sisters, brother and friends! My morning was spent face timing with Heather, she is finding it very quiet at her house now that both boys are in school all day. I told her to enjoy her quiet time as long as she possibly can, god knows if they will be able to continue the school year actually in school. I ran out to my local craft/card making supply store and found what I needed to finish off my door sign. Here is a photo of the finished project.
Welcome sign.jpg

The only problem is that the background is almost the same colour as our front door, so I am not sure how much it will stand out LOL. I might have to hang it inside somewhere in the foyer and make another one for the front door?? I had fun making it but sure had to wait a long time to get the greenery from Amazon. It sure would be nice if I could find something local, but there is no where near by darn it! Anyway I ended up not getting much more done than making a casserole for supper and a batch of hamburger soup. I felt like nothing really got accomplished, but I guess I got more done than I think LOL.

@faerywings Chris you are doing so well with your to do lists! I am proud of you! You are right, we all know that you will worry about Scott and Leah!! You are a Mom its what we do!! Sure hope that your dishwasher holds together for a few more months at least! Yup appliances and computers are so great when they work, but what a PITA when they don't!! Yikes that wind sounds like it was really bad! I know that sound we had a wind plough come through our area when we lived in Saskatchewan it sounded like a train coming through the house, lifted the corner of our roof just a bit, pretty scary! I can't wait to see your Gnomes that you have been working on!! Happy 3rd birthday to the rats!!

@tanteva - Your dinner party sounds like it was good fun! How nice that your friend has found someone who makes her happy! Had to laugh about possibly changing your user name to some kind of Smart Alec!!

@mywisecrafts - How nice to see you here in the daily O's ! I think that you fit right in with all of the other Smart@*** here LOL. I sure don't miss those hormone raging days with my DD and so thankful that my menopausal episodes have all but disappeared! My DD and I are really very close now, but we did go through some very rough times! I taught both my kids to drive too and my son (who is now 40) is still a lead foot LOL. My daughter got sick when she was 18 and it left her with a brain injury, so she will never be able to drive, perhaps a good thing because she was a very bad driver LOL.

@Cherylndesigns - I hope that you are feeling much better and not spending too much time on that laptop! Wouldn't talk to scrap be a great option right now??

Well it is a rainy morning and I have lots to catch up on with my scrapping a good day to get it done! Off to pick up my grocery order soon but after that I am staying home all day. My sister is bringing me some pumpkins that she has knitted they are so darn cute, I will show a photo of them tomorrow. Have a great day ladies!!

Giggling when I read about your daughters. I've always said how happy I am that we got a son who's like Urban and not a daughter who's like me. Lol

You gotta be kidding me! Is that really used at the speech? It sounds like something you just came up with! I've never known this.

I overtook you. My name is Aleksandra, so in shorten lots of people calls me Alek.
OMG, the sarcastic cat = Alek Felis, yep it sounds accurate! Although I rather prefer the true meaning behind the name which is "defender of men."

good day - Luther was in doggie day care and it was really a day of quiet. Got my hair cut. And now I am multitasking. NHL hockey is back. The Devils prospects are in Buffalo to play against teams from Buffalo and Boston. Less than a month from my first hockey game of the season. The game is streaming on Devils site while I am writing this here. I also go some scrapping done. Finally went through my Ida photos. Not much else going on.

@faerywings Chris happy birthday to the rats. They are too cute. You are so lucky to have your DH be able to make these types of repairs. My DH and I am totally incompetent. Glad that the kids made it to the fair.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl glad you were able to have some time on the computer.

@taxed4ever Trudy and @mywisecrafts when I was pregnant I thought do I want to raise a girl to be independent and strong or a boy that actually wants women to be equal. I have two sons. You are lucky with your girls.

@tanteva Eva I love my food spicy! I am sure your soup was good! How fun you googled smart aleck. Yes it is a great slang word.

@felis I love your name means defender of men!

Waving!

Hi girls! Watching how my cat's was sunbathing past few afternoons it's seems like they also feels the end of the Summer to coming. I don't mind it, as autumn is my favorite season and I'm very excited for the upcoming! This summer was the most interesting from long time, but it has few very tough moments too, so I don't mind to close that chapter and start on clear!
I'm at the middle of my seasonal cleaning, but also was very successful at catching up on my reading list. Although I'm cheating a little bit choosing books around 200 pages for faster results.

Chris, happy birthday to the girls! Please give them extra treats from me! :D
I hope that your kids will be able to sit back and have some healing connection with the nature on this camping, making the whole experience helpful and worthy! Sorrow so easily spoil everything. In past we had strict rituals followed from people in mourning for the first 3 days, first week and then the 40 days that was helping to the family to process the pain from loss. At the modern days when the rituals are mostly abandoned is so much common depression to tighten tightly in its net.
Oh the storm sound really bad, how affect the dogs? My Biggie was often afraid from the sound of the wind, thunders and everything noisy, till Middleton just don't care even if the worlds falls down around him.

Eva, it must be awful this job situation to be postponed for so long! Living in anticipation is much more painful than the real moment of face up with the situation! Fingers crossed that everything will be resolved quick and easy!

Esther, oh when someone is emotional is so easy to hurt their feelings, are you feeling like walking on ice all the time? I'm very emotional too and it was long way until I learn to not allows to be hurt. Everything is personal in my world, ''strictly business'' is nonsense!

Trudy, the door sign is so elegant and pretty! Maybe a thick border line will distinguish it from the background?! I'm so happy to hear that Heather, finally will have some ME time! Is she still work from home?
Oh, yes please, I want to see these pumpkins! Knitted or crocheted?

Nancy, how nice about the new hair cut! You're the best in watching TV and scraping at the same time, I'll never understand how you do that!
Well, I guess my mom wasn't able to find the Latin word for ''defenders of cats'' and I have to try to be satisfied with that version. :p

My computer is working again. Turns out it was only Windows Defender that was messing things up. I had turned off the computer for the night, and the program started doing is thing as soon as I started the puter. Now I have fixed the settings and hopefully it won't happen again. Turns out that the program can get stuck when it does the virus check on itself, I guess that's what happened.

Now ... I'm gonna scrap the crap out of PSE LOL

No, I don’t feel like I’m walking on ice. While I’m considerate of her feelings I’m still pretty straightforward with her because I also know that the “world” isn’t going to be sensitive with her feelings. As she is getting older she understands the logic behind what I’m saying and she is getting better at being resilient and not taking it so personally. The only time when it’s bad is when her brother “thinks” he’s teasing her but she’s already voiced she doesn’t like something and that will set her into a bit of a tailspin. So I have to remind him it’s a respect thing once somebody has voiced they don’t like that type of teasing.
