I can't tell if this week went by faster than last week. But sheesh, it is Friday already!

In case you were wondering how long I would keep my distance from the baby rats... not long at all. They are SO CUTE!
Caitlyn left their cage on the DR table so we could keep an eye on them and let them get used to people and dogs around them. I couldn't stay away. Nor could I stop saying how *little* they are. Squirrel looks huge after holding the little ones.
Baby rats are just like kittens and puppies. They get those bursts of activity and they scuffle each other and run around the cage like maniacs. Next thing they are fast asleep. Usually on top of one another. :D
They are in a tissue box and that is a sunflower seed so you can get perspective.

PXL_20231005_140731276_resize.jpg
I've been making sure I gave Squirrel lots of love and attention too. She, surprisingly, is giving it back. She was more of a loner than her sisters but must miss them and the socialization. Every time I open the cage, she comes out and climbs into my sleeve ♥

Today is my Covid/flu shot. I got everything for Gary to make grilled cheese for dinner tonight in case I am not feeling the best. I got stung by another yellow jacket yesterday so my hand already hurts. I was pulling a dead leaf off of my morning glories and he must have been hiding in the tangle of vines. My finger swelled up so much I couldn't bend it- but I had read that baking soda helps neutralize the venom after one of the previous stings so I figured I would give it a try. Between that and icing it, the swelling is mostly down. Now it's just hot and itchy. pfft. As soon as I get home from the pharmacy, I am going to take Advil, drink a ton of water, and hope for the best.

Lots of love to you!

@vickyday new rats are really exciting! :dancingbfly: Thanks for joining in with me!
Sorry you didn't get your pj days but nice to see Mark for lunch instead. I remember when Ruth's husband passed and I am really glad that she is going to the widows' group with you. How awful that Carolyn can't go anymore. Is there a way to stream it so she can watch/listen to the speakers? I worry about her becoming isolated.
Hope that GDD's game was exciting!

@LSlycord When is the cath happening, next week? My brain is saying the 14th but that is a Saturday... You know me and numbers, they mean nothing to me.
I hope that your niece can connect with Shaun. It's got to be so hard to see him struggle and feel adrift. What about his academic advisor? Have they been any help?

@BrightEyes I hope that your arm is 100% better by now. I hate when that happens, not knowing what day it is. As you know :rotfl:
I can't believe that it's time to think about Thanksgiving! that will be very nice to have your sister with you

@taxed4ever I can't remember if you told us how it was watching the rowing team last week.
I hope that the weather cooperates enough to get some more time in the kayaks this month, as well as hiking.
Good luck getting all of your Thanksgiving prep done. :baking1:

Right???? The Autumn Magic Collab is *divine!*

@bcgal00 I am sending you the best good luck vibes I can muster :sparkles1:
I can't imagine how untethered you must be feeling but you are doing a great job staying focused on purging and packing.
Plus it sounds like you are completely on track for the cruise. I hope that the trip is a great mental and physical getaway, you need and deserve it :hug3:

@svanderhaegen Hi Sonja! Nice to see you here ♥

Kay- I would be choking up too. You must be so happy and proud of the boys you have raised into wonderful men. And girls into very strong women. What a testament to you and Bill :hug2:

@Cherylndesigns Adult kids are amazing. Unfortunately, no grandkids but grandrats/dogs/reptiles will be nice. Maybe my nieces and nephews will want kids someday and I can get my baby-itch from them LOL
The next time I am out shopping I am going to try the sketchers on. My feet are such a mess that I can't buy shoes online. But good to know that they are comfy especially since I know you are always on your feet.

Good morning friends! Talked to the nurse and think I'm ready to go. I have tests next Friday morning...then, a week from today, we will get this thing done. I am ready to know the next steps. This has been hanging over my head quite long enough.

I actually got a page scrapped that needs to be posted this morning. That makes me feel like I have really achieved something! And the book study was good last night. Busy weekend ahead with the book club ladies tomorrow, followed by going over to my new friend's house to quilt together and have dinner. Then Sunday is another trip to Gainesville to see Syd and get the new license tags on the car. I normally would feel like I was wasting a day of rest...but we all know that any day that has an hour spent with Syd is not a waste in my book!

She called last night. She is tired and stressed. Too many nights of 2 a.m. followed with mornings of 5 a.m. Lots of exams and lots of homework. This engineering stuff is no joke. She said that one girl had a meltdown during the exam and left the room to go to the restroom. When she came back in, it was obvious she had been crying and she asked the professor if she could speak to him. Yikes. :sad1: The professor told the kids early in the year that he has had people breakdown in his exams before.

It's homecoming week and she is riding in the parade on one of the engineering floats. She went to Gator Growl last night, which is part of the homecoming tradition. Some comedian that I had never heard of. So, somehow she is finding her way...through the tough courses and the social life and keeping it all going.

Thanks to all for the kind words about Shaun. I wish he could find some friends...or that he would talk to a counselor. He has a little bit of blood in his urine again so I think that is wearing on him. I need to call the doctor and get him an appointment. It feels like the poor guy can't catch a break. But, someday, I'm hoping that I will be writing the same paragraphs about him that I'm writing about Syd!

Morning, all. Think this is going to be another "do nothing" day. Still tired with the arm aching. DD#1 called yesterday. She got both Covid and flu shot on Monday - and has been sleeping a lot and not feeling well. Just glad I got my shots separately. Will be getting the RSV shot in about 2 weeks. Will wait until after my niece and her friend have been for a visit. Don't want to be down while they are here.

DSD is here!!! Think I have finished uploading all my DSD LOs now. Whew... been a busy week with them and some challenge LOs. Things should slow back down to 'normal' scrapping-wise for the rest of the month. Just wish my typing could be back to normal. Using the mouse to scrap is so much easier.

Sorry this is short but the hands are 'talking to me'... CYL

I don't like mice. I don't like rats. I don't like cats. I tolerate dogs. But I love the babies in all of those! It must be the mother in me, LOL! They "look" so vulnerable when in actuality they are better prepared at being able to take care of themselves that human babies. That amazes me! I love this picture of them on top of one another all cozy in the corner! You will have to scrap them for sure! Has Cait named them yet, or did I miss that part?

Yes, I agree and hope Carolyn doesn't feel left out. It is unavoidable, however, I am afraid! She is used to being able to be out and about! And being able to walk one day and not the next has to be depressing, at best! I am hoping Ilene and I can encourage Ruth to visit Carolyn with us on occasion. Ilene knew Ruth from a previous church they attended many years ago, so they are not strangers. But Ruth does not know Carolyn. However, she lives between Carolyn and I, so I am hoping she will go for visits with us.

Good Morning!
Enjoyed the softball game last night. My granddaughter actually got a hit off of the fast-pitch pitcher! But they were quicker than her and got her out at first base! She played the outfield last night. She did get on base the first time she was up, only because the girl walked her. And she did end up scoring! Her team about slaughtered their opponents in the very first inning! The other team never did catch up! I don't know what the final score was, but I'm glad they won! I thought she was playing for the Christian school's team where she attends, but those games are not until the spring. This was for an area league. She really enjoys it!

Today is cloudy and cool. A perfect day for Mark to work outside, which he is doing. I am nursing another stupid headache. My nose is kinda runny, so I am thinking it is the weather and my sinuses. Or maybe allergies since I have had a tickle in my throat the last couple of days. I sure hope it is just the seasonal weather and not something else.....like COVID!

I had a rough night last night.....a sleepless in Wallburg night, LOL! I went to bed the first time at 1:30, not really feeling that sleepy. By 2 o'clock I was back up. Came back to the living room and listened to my current audiobook and did some knitting on my sweater. I finally started yawning and went back to bed at 3:30. It still took me about 15 minutes to fall asleep. I woke up around 10. And it feels like it is going to be a long day! I think I will stay in my pj's and just float through the day watching YouTube videos, listening to audiobooks, knitting and call it a day. Tomorrow my daughter wants to spend the day with me to celebrate my birthday. Mark plans to attend his grandson's travel baseball game and then do some work outside.

Have a great day!

Hello all! I keep saying that I'm going to join you ladies here, but then I get distracted and don't sit down and look for the thread. I feel like my life is so much more boring than you all! I pretty much do the same thing every day.

Our daughter is still trying to finish up Senior year of high school. Covid threw us off, and 2 years earlier I held her back a year as she just was struggling mightily in math and science, and taking forever to get through her English composition course. She should have graduated in '22. My days are spent making sure she's reading her books, and writing her essays instead of being online watching videos or playing her games. It's tiring. I keep saying I'll miss this some day when she's gone, so I really try to have a good attitude about things.

My husband and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary on Wed, so we went out to a fancy restaurant. We have little extra cash, so he was saving up for a while to afford it. We shared a Tomahawk Steak and DAYUM was it good!!!!

Apparently I slept wrong on my neck 2 nights ago and threw it out badly. I've been alternating with the heating pad and the ice pack. It's about 50% today and I'm hopeful it will be better sooner than later!

I think I decided to get my personal blog up and running again. It's been a long time, and I probably will have NO followers anymore, but I want to have a place for all my scrap pages and musings if I want to...I'm considering a 365 layout a day blog starting in January.

The weather is heavenly in Vegas right now - the hell of summer heat is gone, but it's not the hell of the cold of winter yet. It's the sweet spot!

Good morning ladies. I'm busy with CT work this morning and it is a great distraction from waiting to see if we get the offer on the house today. Or if the offers comes in, is it at a good price point. Ugh. So stressful. I am not feeling very chatty but it is good to scrap and sort of do it on auto pilot KWIM? I'll take Remi to the dog park in a bit. Keep the positive thoughts coming, much appreciated. Hopefully I have some good news for you tomorrow.

Good afternoon, my lovelies.

Susie @pachimac it's SO good to see your smiling face in here!! Welcome to the wild side. :cheer:dance3dance4

Well, I just got home - like you said Chris @faerywings I'm a good testament as to whether shoes are comfortable or not. :giggle4::giggle4: Ava and I went into town and ran some errands and then grabbed some lunch. It's so much easier getting in and out of these big ole' trucks with these shoes on. She's having her truck "lifted" next week. Oh goodie. :upsidedownbanana: I asked her when she was getting a running board - she said after she gets it lifted. Not good news for short people.

Chris @faerywings what a sweet picture and I'm glad Squirrel is getting extra attention - poor thing. Good luck with your shot and yikes a yellow jacket sting!! Sending hugs.

Linda @LSlycord you are making some new friends and that's so great! Maybe Shaun doesn't feel good like you said. Poor guy I hope he figures things out - he will I just know it. Sorry Syd's struggling but she's going to make it! College is SO hard and a lot of kids really struggle. You know that Braden and Syd are extremely intelligent and B's really struggling already. He's lost in the crowd and his problem is he never had to study in HS. He's just awe-jawed at the amount of homework and studying he has to do now. I really don't think he had a clue. He's also pledging so that takes up a lot of time. Glad to hear that your cath schedule is moving along. Yes, this has been hanging over your head for too long.

Kay @BrightEyes I hear you about your hands talking to you. It's almost time to get our fingerless gloves out. :giggle4: You certainly have some fun times coming up with the family and please take it easy while you can. I'm thinking about the RSV this year or the pneumonia shot - it's been over 5 years for that, I think. Do the balloons fly this weekend?

Vicky @vickyday sorry you have a headache and your sleeping habits sound like mine some nights. Since I started drinking my special herbal tea, I don't have too many of them, however. That tea has changed my life. I used to be up and down half the night, too.

Rae @bcgal00 sending you good real estate sale vibes. What a pain to sell a house and try to buy another one.

I need to go and get a couple of DSD layouts posted around. Instagram wasn't working for me a few minutes ago. I want to see if my layout has uploaded by now. Several people has reported, here, that it was acting up. I didn't have any trouble until today and I hope they get it fixed because I have to post Color Play also.

Hope everybody has a good weekend. XOXO
