<~ my week, tryin' to kill me
It's been a long one. What happened to all of my "ZOMG! The week flew by so fast!" commentary? I am drained and for no real reason. At least yesterday was better than Wednesday. What did I even do yesterday? Not much of anything. I scrubbed the kids' bathroom. Scrubbed it. It was gross. I typically don't touch their bathroom, but Caitlyn is having a surprise get-together for Scott's birthday on Tuesday (shhhh!) and I'd be embarrassed if anyone needed to use it. Scott asked me why I was cleaning their bathroom and I shrugged it off saying that I had the time and it needed to be done. All true. *nods*

Other than that, I don't think I did anything worth mentioning :D

My mom is coming up today to see if we can get Trip Insurance for when we go down the shore in Sept. The plan we usually get used to be $50 or so, Makes sense to have that. Between my mom's health and the strict cancellation policy of the place we stay, better to lose $50 than $600 if we have to cancel. The policy is now over $100 and I can't find one less than $90. We are going to try AARP since AAA is over $100.
Caitlyn is off today so she'll get to see my mom too.

HAPPY :friday:

@vickyday It was a better day thank you! I know, I need to focus on that we saved the three bunnies. It made me so sad though.
Did you and Caroline have fun together?
Was this the first time out on the bike this season? I know that the rain must have kept you all inside a few weeks ago. Hope that the pollen wasn't too bad, it's horrific here. Everything is caked in yellow and green dust.

@Cherylndesigns I am jealous of the 70* weather! It was freezing all day yesterday. I think that most of the plants made it through the freeze. In between the mess of dinner/bunny/dog vomit the other night, I was trying to cover the plants with sheets and the wind kept blowing the sheets off. Two packs of impatiens that I hadn't been able to get in the ground are not happy (as in shriveled and brown) but I won't give up on them until there are very, very, very dead. LOL
I was/am anorexic. Caitlyn too :(
Mine started when I was 13. I have scoliosis and wore a back brace for almost 4 years. So in 7th grade when girls are starting to wear cute clothes, I was wearing stuff that was oversized and baggy to cover the brace up. I felt fat and out of control so I stopped eating. Since then, I have struggled in varying degrees with body dysmorphia and anorexia. To this day I still think I am fat and will point out every area of flabby skin/pouchy belly and so on that reinforces that "vision." I don't actively restrict anymore or obsess over calories but I still make deals with myself with what I eat. I'll skip breakfast or have to hit my step goals if I want to have dessert. I was snooping in Cait's bedroom when she was 12 or 13 (I admit it, I shouldn't have but I was worried about her) and found her food diary. Punch in the gut. :brokenheart:
So yeah.... if you need any advice, let me know. One of the worst things you can say is "You look skinny." You'd think it was a compliment but for me, that is like waving a red flag to a bull- that triggers me to stop eating. Counterintuitive, right?
Funny story about my first night in outpatient treatment- We ordered dinner every night and ate as a group. There were strict rules- only one salad a week, no behaviors (hiding food, chewing and spitting, etc.) and no negative commentary. But the worst was having to eat everything. Everything. I ordered a salad and it was more than I would eat in an entire day. I didn't think I could do it, I stared at that salad trying not to cry. They ended up cutting me a break since it was my first night and I didn't have to finish the bread. geez, thanks for nothing! hahaha! It's one of those things that I will never forget and when I get weirded out by food I remind myself that I beat a salad. :batfight::
yes! The app is Merlin, did you try it out yet? This morning I heard the tufted titmouse and house wren I always do, but also a downy woodpecker and a red-winged blackbird. I didn't see that one but will be looking for it later today.

@taxed4ever Poor Heather has to be freezing too. Yes, please some heat out to her and to the rest of the east coast LOL. Too cold!
The walk along the beach must have been wonderful, I can see you all picking up the pace with the tide coming in. How is the sunburn today? It seems too early to be concerned about that but I guess that is the way the weather is going to be from now on. Unpredictable. Harrumph.....

@bcgal00 I saw your photos of the birds and horses. Just incredible photos, you live in a truly beautiful area. How are you feeling after being out and about the last couple of days? Hope that you are resting if you need to. You and Jen will have a nice time with the dogs hiking around the lake when you can.

@Cherylndesigns *fingers and toes all crossed that Steph gets the job and the move happens soon* :sparkles1:

@Nonni F You had to be way colder than we were in NJ, how did your plants make it through? Hope they all did ok.
Hehe, oh the irony of having your ortho surgeon cancel and you spending the day gardening instead! :floorlaugh:
Yup-- love/hate relationship with Mother Nature. We have tried to rescue or protect so many animals over the years and lost quite a few. We had a nest of baby birds in the rhododendron in May 2020. There were 4 of them and we watched them daily - not much else to focus on that spring. Anyway, one day in early May it snowed ad we worked so hard to put blankets over the rhodo to keep the nest dry. None of them made it and I was heartbroken again. I am such a sap. :/
You know what I am going to say about the rat.... they are just like the squirrels, even their tails are the same under that fluffy and deceptive disguise. :D
Oh, of course, it's just one. Rats are known to be extremely solitary and antisocial creatures.
*straight face*

Hugs and love to you all!

Same here for the pollen! Not the first time on the bike. We tried a couple of weeks ago but Mark's hemorrhoids didn't like it, so we had to cut the trip short! He did better this time! Carolyn and I had a great day together! Even though Ilene was not with us! Glad you had a better day! Yes, I understand how sad you must've been to find the bunnies! :( I would've been sad, too!

Good Morning!
I'm surprised no one has been on here yet today! It is almost 11 a.m. here in NC!
Had a great day with my friend, Carolyn, yesterday! I left her house around 5:30 after picking her up at 10:30 to go to "lunch". Lunch for me, breakfast for her! We played Rummikub and Qwirkle when we went back to her house. We did miss bantering with Ilene, however!
Today I woke up with a headache and took tylenol at 6:15 and again at 10:05. It is finally easing up! Thank You, Lord!
I'm working in Mark's laundry today. With the surprise visit from my daughter last weekend I did not get his laundry done. He can go 2 weeks without me doing his laundry but not much more than that!
Tonight we will go to the graduation of my 2nd grandchild. I hate/love seeing them grow up and beginning a new phase of their lives!
Got my 311 prints from Persnickety back yesterday! I've been working on getting them sorted out so I can put them in albums!
Mark is working around the equipment shed today. It is becoming overgrown with brush and one side is literally falling off! He wants to revamp it so it is more like a pole barn than a shed. It is a pain to have to move everything around to get to the equipment that always happens to be at the front of the line, LOL! Murphy's law!
OK, that's it for me! Have a great day and weekend if I happen not to get back on here!

Morning ladies... another sunny warm day, still trying my hardest to send this heat out to those of you in the East! The Lake is like glass this morning so the Kayak's are calling out my name LOL. Perhaps I will get out there a bit later this morning. I got my painting all coated with Art Resin and OMG it turned out perfect! The resin makes the colours pop and covers any little imperfections in the background. I should be able to deliver the painting to my customer tomorrow. I will be sad to not see it anymore. It's like saying good-bye to a good friend :(. I also got a bit of yard work and all the watering done, the Rhodo's were thirsty and they love lots of water! Still lots of weeding to do, but that will have to wait for the weekend, the temps are supposed to cool off a bit. I started a page yesterday, so hopefully I can get it finished today. Other than that not much happening here for me, unless I get out on the Lake for a bit of a paddle.

@faerywings - Sorry that this week is dragging on for you! It's funny but I was thinking this morning that this week seems to be taking forever to be done! Maybe because it is a long weekend for us this weekend and we are looking forward to get a lot accomplished over the next few days? Hope you and your Mom have a great visit and can find some insurance at a bit better price!! Seems that everything has doubled in price, so I am not surprised that insurance as also. :rollingpin1:How do they expect us to keep on living with all these high prices?? The sunburn is much better today, thanks for asking! I applied sunscreen numerous times while on the hike, but kept missing my forehead, so that was where the worst of the burn occurred, then applied aloe vera gel when I got home and I think that really helped a lot! I am pretty fair skinned so I have to watch not to spend too much time in the sun. My DH on the other hand, gets as brown as can be and never burns, it's not fair!!

@Cherylndesigns - sounds like everyone will be closer to you and that is a wonderful thing!! One day I hope all of our kids and grands will be closer, but it doesn't sound like it will happen anytime soon :( . Hope that Steph gets a job very soon!!

@vickyday - Sounds like your day will be filled with lots of laundry!!:laundry::laundryline: Hope you get it all done and so glad that the headache did not stick around this morning!! Have a good time at the graduation!! Yes, it is bitter sweet to see them growing up and becoming adults, but at least they are able to grow up and become good adults, so be very thankful for that!! I know that you are of course!!

Alright its time to empty the dishwasher and get on with the day. Hope you all have a lovely :friday: :bye2:

Good morning ladies. It is hot and still smoky (but less so) from the winds bringing the smoke from the Alberta fires. Got my hair chopped off even a bit shorter. My hair was so short when I went into the hairdresser but somehow she still found a lot of hair to chop off. She is like Edward Scissorhands (remember that movie?). She uses some special kind of tool that hooks over her fingers and has 3-4 cutting blades and she keeps zipping back and forth with all of them. She is a genius with short haircuts. I'll keep it really short (about 1.5" on top) for the next 3 months or so until our summer heatwave is over and then let it grow back into about 2.5" on top.

Today I'm doing house chores, outside play with Remi and photo editing. I want to start loading some holiday pics into my online gallery.

@faerywings Thx for sharing the info about your eating disorder. I've never had anorexia or binged but I have struggled all my life with food, arguing with the little voice in my head about what to eat or not eat. It's exhausting. That's why I love a low carb plan so much. That little voice quiets right down. When I decrease the carbs, I stop craving them and stop fighting with myself. So glad I found what worked for me.

@vickyday Glad the headache is lessening. I got all my laundry done these last 3 days or so. Now I have to move on to washing floors. I hate housework but I hate a dirty house too so I have no choice :)

I'm getting more coffee and have to go move the lawn sprinkler to the other side. The new grass looks good but it'll be challenging to keep it nice over the hot dry summer.

HAGD everyone.

@taxed4ever We cross posted this morning. Enjoy the kayak today if you get out there. It is another scorching hot day (and tomorrow too). Looking forward to a bit cooler temps next week. Glad you are so happy with your painting. You are so talented.

Good afternoon, all.

It's raining here today - started about 6:30 with thunder and literally pouring - we have a metal roof, which I love, but when it downpours, it's really loud. I don't think I ever went back to sleep, but maybe I did. My alarm woke me up from whatever I was doing at 9:30, but I didn't feel like I ever went back to sleep. It's supposed to do this all day. Tonight is Braden's graduation and his party, so we're hoping it clears off by then. Based on the weather forecast, the school moved the ceremony indoors two days ago. Smart move.

Chris, we've been enjoying our nice weather so much and we needed the rain, but it won't hang around for long. I have never been anorexic, but, like Rae @bcgal00 I don't have a good relationship with food. I'm always feeling "fat" and if I eat anything, I really feel that way. Some days, I eat very little. I've always thought I have body dysmorphia, too. I'm like you, I pick at all the things that I don't like and I feel like if I don't do my work out every day that I'm going to really feel fat. (Maybe I REALLY do have a problem) but I've never starved myself like anorexics do. I've thought about it, but hunger keeps me from it. I try to not eat very much anyway because I feel better when I don't eat a lot. I've never binged and purged, either. It's a strange "thing" that's for sure You had to go to a facility, huh? You must have been really bad. I know "skinny shaming" is as harmful as "fat shaming" though. My Steph is way thin because of her health problems - she eats, she just stays extremely thin. She feels like she gets "skinny shamed" a lot. People are always asking her if she eats. She fights to GAIN weight.

I'm glad I got the right app. Just got it yesterday and already identified two birds and it recorded their songs. SO cool. We heard an Indigo Bunting and a House Finch. I heard a really weird bird the other night which prompted me to get that app. By the time I got it, he was gone.

Vicky @vickyday hope you get all your laundry done. Trudy @taxed4ever glad your sunburn is better. I always keep aloe vera in my fridge. I do wish that your family was closer too. It will be so nice to have them so close - now we just have to work on getting them here. Maybe when Asher's older they'll break the chain. :cuffed: Hey, I'll take what I can get right now.

Have a good weekend, all.
XOXO
