Happy Friday!! Are you ready for the weekend? I'm not! hahaha!!
Nah, I am pretty much on track for Sunday Brunch. It's just the parents coming up so no need to impress them with my sparkling clean house when I can impress them with my sparkling conversation and wit.
Oh.
Guess what I should do today??
I cleaned the kitchen really well yesterday so all it needs is a good sweep/mop tomorrow. The vacuuming will also wait until tomorrow cuz the dogs will make a mess if I do it today.
I am surprised I am not hurting too much today-- I spent the afternoon spreading used-up planter soil over the sections of the side yard where the regular dirt is awful. The soil in the planter where I going to put my tomatoes is old and we are replacing most of it with new soil specifically for veggies in planters. No sense in letting the old stuff go to waste so Im dragging it around the yard and filling in a lot of bare spots.
[The soil in my area is hard and rocky and full of iron. My town was built around iron forging and there are still some furnaces as historical landmarks that you can see. Over the years I've been digging out rocks and lining the edge of the yard/ woods with them. The perennials I have been putting in those spaces are the die-hard, live-through-a-nuclear apocalypse type. Lillies of the valley-- you can't kill them. Currently, there is a ground battle between them and the poison ivy vines. Actually, I think they are on the same side. Fighting against *me* haha!
Anyway---- I digress. As usual. *wink*]
That was most of my afternoon. Another part of my afternoon was finding two more baby mice. Gary called the woman from the wildlife rescue and we dropped them off after dinner. She is assuming that there's a nest in the house and something happened to the mama. Mice usually have a minimum of 4 babies so she told us to keep an eye out, there probably will be a few more. I had to go with Gary for two reasons: So I would know where the place is if I ever needed to drop off and he wasn't around. And I wanted to see the wildlife babies! The baby raccoons are freaking adorable!! They chatter and chirp and totally want your attention. The two baby red squirrels- Cah-ray-zeeee! Never stopped moving or climbing or running about. Baby bunnies, groundhogs, and possums (oh my!)
My big plans for today are to go to the big indoor farmer's market to get the fruit for Brunch and salad stuff for the house. Everyone will be here around lunchtime so we hope to have a family meal if we can. If not, it will be Tuesday before everyone is under the roof at the same time.
If I can get it allll together (50-50 chance with me LOL), I will finish up with the soil today, and then early next week I should be able to get the tomatoes in the dirt.
Finish It Friday
1. I have a LO I need to finish and upload.
2. The soil.
How about you?
