Happy Friday and International Beaver Day!
I posted in that thread about the fantastic hike I went on with Soctt yesterday to see the local beaver dam and lodge. So cool! I love hiking with him, I learn so much and he is really patient with me as I ask a million questions. The weather forecast was for rain but it turned out to be mostly sunny and warm. I was deciding between yard work or a hike and figured he rarely has free time at home, so hike it was.
I got all of my gear together, the new hiking boots and the backpack he gave me. (You know how some women "collect" shoes? He collects backpacks :rotfl: He outgrew the one he gave me, but it is perfect for me)
Besides the beaver lodge, we also found a geocache and signed out names in the booklet. He had a keychain flashlight that he added to the cache and he took a small waterproof container. We also saw a blue heron. It was flying away from us so not a great view but there it was, nonetheless. He thinks there has to be a nest by the beaver pond because he sees -- and hears- it often. Says that they are really loud and unnerving if you aren't expecting it.

And go me! I walked with my friend, and went on two hikes in one week!!! #cheer-3 Plus a few yoga sessions and two days of yard work. Oh, please let that mean that I am losing a bit of the winter weight. Pleeeeease...

I have been a day ahead all week and I could have sworn yesterday was Friday. But it is Friday today and the sun is back out again. The forsythia in my backyard is looking good, sunny yellow and makes me happy :)
Since I have no major plans today, I am getting outside again this afternoon. First, I have to clean the LR/kitchen/DR area. It's really, really dusty.
After that, the day is *mine.*

Hoooo boy, I am so far behind schedule. Eh, what difference does it make? *shrugs*
Wishing everyone a fantastic day!

@Su_Sanne No Easter cooking or baking for me. I offered to go down and help my mom with her Easter Pies today but she said she has it under control. I hope that you had sweet dreams last night.
I'm glad that you don't mind spiders because Scott has a pet tarantula named Rita. She is a Chilean Rose and has the prettiest coloring. (He also has a pet "S" word but I won't say any more than that *wink*)
bet your gardens are looking good! I totally understand "righteously tired." I use the phrases "a good tired" or a "worthwhile tired." It's very different than a lack of sleep or a Lyme tired. How is your foot/ankle doing your yard work, it's not hurting you?

@vickyday I am proud of you, I know it isn't easy to make all of those dr appts but I am glad that you did. The glucose isn't likely to be an accurate reading since you weren't fasting. If your Dr is concerned, they will want to do an A1c which measures your blood glucose over time. Hope that your head and stomach are better today.

@Nonni F :lol23:
I'm not a doctor but I play one on OScraps.
If my BFF were reading this she would be LOL-ing as well and telling me that I got competition. We always joke that we aren't Drs/hairdressers/vets/etc but play one on TV. One year for Christmas, she gave me a "Masters of Everything" certificate, it is hanging on my office wall over my monitor. bwuahah!
But see, we are spot on, A1c is the way to go.

@Cherylndesigns I remember when I changed my dad's dressing for his shoulder and it was drippy too. Not as bad as Roger's but much worse than my ankle was. I wonder if it's a shoulder incision thing?
Did he speak/see the Dr yesterday? Sure hope he is feeling better. Were they at least able to prescribe pain meds?
I had not yet met Gwynn Stefani and Alejandro! Welcome to the skelly family, you two lovebirds! LOL *waves hi to Tex and Lexi* Miss you two as well!!

@taxed4ever I bet the Jacuzzzi felt like heaven after a long hike and a chilly day. Will you go on that one again when it's a little warmer? You had to renew your license every year?? That's madness! NJ is every 4 years and that feels like too much haha!
You have a busy and exciting weekend ahead, if you don't pop in much-- I am wishing you "have fun" vibes!
Aww, you are too sweet!! My family is sure off the rails but we have fun. hehe
It amazes me how well you and Rae do on a Keto diet, but I can tell how much better and more energetic you feel.

@bcgal00 Soooo very glad to hear that your head and eyes are somewhat better. How is the new 'do? I'd love to see a picture!!

Cheryl! :giggle4:
You NEED a skeleton or two - they're so much fun.
Don't enable her like that!
Enable her like this. SuSaanne, you need a skeleton or two or five. And yes, dress them up, it's fun! And don't forget, the skeletons need pets too.

Arline- I am very very lucky. Two of my neighbors are way weirder than we are and we love them for it. If I went outside with my vacuum they wouldn't bat an eyelash LOL
*fingers crossed for a nicer neighbor moving in*
Such good advice re: colonoscopies, I am like that with mammograms. Sorry to hear about your grandfather and dad

@LSlycord ugh..... I am sorry that you and Shaun are not seeing eye to eye with school. It won't surprise you that we went through it with Scott. We told him that if college wasn't right for him, that was fine *but* he needed to do something else, a trade school or whatever. I think he went through at least three different majors before he settled on Environmental Sci and 6 years to graduate. I hope that Shaun is able to figure it out. Sending patience to you, you are gonna need it :sparkles1:

SuSanne- "laugh my ass off" doesn't bother me in the least. There are only a few words that really make me cringe and I doubt that you would use them here

Ack! I am now officially an hour behind schedule. :oops2:

xoxoxo!!!

Good morning ladies. Got the new haircut (see my avatar). Its shorter than I want it to be but I did that on purpose b/c it will be so easy to maintain on the trip. When I get back I'll probably grow it in another inch and that should be perfect. My only complaint is that the stylist is in the mall and therefore I can't resist going to my fave stores - The Bay, la vie en rose (jammies/swimwear/loungewear), eclipse (they have the best styles for casual comfort) and northern reflections. I can't resist popping into each store after my haircut. I'm not really complaining but the location of the salon does enable me to want to shop. I came home with pajama tops, a few capris, sleeveless tops and a few sweaters. This wkend I will organize what is going into the luggage and carry-on bag.

I bought a bird deterrent kit from the local bird store. It is a big blowup yellow balloon with reflective circles on it, with streamers hanging off the bottom of it. The plastic hanger is screwed into window frame and the holes they dug out have been covered in reflective tape. No flickers came yesterday afternoon. Yay, hope that is the end of it.

@faerywings Sounds like a great hike with S.

@Su_Sanne I can imagine it would be challenging and hard to travel if you are claustrophobic. You can drive though? or take a bus?

I have to go get dressed. My new friends will be here in a bit for our morning walk with the dogs. Its earlier than I would like to get out but also good b/c it gets me out with Remi for some fresh air. She loves it.

I'll pop in later. HAGD everyone.

I hope you were able to take pics of your hike to scrap!
I LOVE forsythia, too! Actually, I love all sunny yellow flowers!
My house is a dust magnet! Probably doesn't help that we live less than 100 ft from a major road!

Your hair cut looks really cute! A little short, but it will grow out in no time! Perfect for your cruise!

Good Morning everyone and Good Friday to you too! I just realized that I have not yet changed my siggie here and so I better get that done today. I can finally say it isn’t winter anymore right?! Today I think I might run out later on and look for a new outfit to wear to the dance tomorrow night. I hate shopping for clothes, but I really need something new to wear, something springy. I renewed my driver’s licence yesterday and was happy that I made an appointment for it. I only had to sit and wait a couple of minutes, got my new photo taken and signed a couple of forms and I was on my way in under 10 mins. Easy, Peazy, Lemon Squeezy! Had a long face time chat with Heather when I got home and she is busy, getting things ready for her brother and family to come and visit for the Easter Long weekend. It is going to be a tight fitting for everyone, but they will have lots of fun together. It makes my heart happy to know that they will all be together again! :lovey3: It is supposed to be a lovely warm and sunny :sunnyeyes:weekend for them in Ontario, they should be able to get the kids outside to do something. Not such great weather here however, we are going to have rain all weekend.:(

@faerywings - I am so happy to hear that you got out for a hike with Scott! How nice that he could be your nature guide as well!! How did your new boots work out for you? Were they comfy? Do you feel any stiffness today? I bet your yoga is helping out, keeping your muscles more flexible! Two hikes in a week? WTG you!! Yes when we lived in Saskatchewan we had to renew every year, so happy that it is every five years here! I hope that you get to have another day of being outside today!

@bcgal00 - Ohhhh I love the new look!! It will be so easy for you to take care of and nice and cool for your hot summer months! How fun to go shopping for all the new goodies too! Glad you found the bird deterrent and hopefully the flicker will not be back to wake you up so early in the morning! Have a nice walk with your new friends!! Seems you are in a great place now!! How wonderful! :lovey3:

@vickyday- Good morning vicky! I hope that you are feeling better today! My house is a dust magnet too as we live downwind from a very busy road and I love dusting!! :hahano:.

Ok it’s time to hit the shower :showering: and get some brunch for DH and myself. Ha, Ha, I love that shower emoji!! Have a great day everyone!! Happy:friday:

Good Morning!
Yes, it has been raining cats and dogs today! And, boy did we have a lightning show yesterday! Scary!
I am feeling just a bit better today! I'm actually drinking coffee again this morning!
The testing the doctor did on Tuesday all came back as "normal" to her reporting.....which means she didn't count the glucose reading as legit. So, I guess we wait to see what the colonoscopy says and then will probably start the Linzess. Onward and upward, hopefully!
Mark is off today normally, so he will also be off on Monday to take the place of Good Friday. With the rain being so heavy he is not in the woods. He said, "Sorry, honey! Looks like you are stuck with me being in the house all day!" LOL! Makes no never mind to me, LOL!
No plans for the day. We are both in our jammies.
I tried to delete my Facebook page yesterday because my Instagram was logged into by the same person using an iPhone located in Nigeria! Since Meta has not responded to any of my contacts, not even to say they are working on the problem, deleting seemed to be the only solution! They will NEVER get my business again! Mark and I really think it is possible Facebook itself has been hacked! So probably all of my complaints have been going to the hackers which is why no one has responded. Too bad! Why do people have to be so mean! GET A LIFE!!!
Rant over!
Have a good day!

Good afternoon - I know I'm late, but I have been busy, busy, busy. Chris @faerywings I got such a kick out of you telling us about your hike with Scott. I LOVE to see beavers and their dams - they were the original dam builders, weren't they? They're the hardest workers and how cool about finding the geocaching thing. That's so cool that Scott had some things to leave. And yay for your backpack - that's funny that he collects backpacks.

I do think the seeping is a rotator cuff surgery thing. Roger gave us a real scare yesterday though. Adrienne called and asked me if I could come up. I went right up and (I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV) but my instinct was that he had 2 blood clots in his arm - the same arm. He also had this new "gash" in the crease of his elbow - underneath and above the things that felt like clots. I told him that he needed to go to the local Urgent Care or the ER! He's such a guy - he said he had two more hours of work to do, then he'd let Adrienne take him. *slapped myself upside the head*. Anyway, she finally dragged him to Urgent Care - they're really good there and are part of the medical association where all of our doctors are and affiliated with the university. The nurse walked in - he was an ER nurse just helping out and said "you have two blood clots"! Same places I said they were! He sent them immediately to the hospital. After some tests, they said they weren't blood clots, but agreed that they LOOKED like them. Do you all remember when we deduced that he was allergic to that "iodine" wash that they always use during surgery? Well, turns out he has a very dangerous allergy to that and with each surgical procedure it gets more dangerous. It's extremely rare but he can never be exposed to it again. Short story long - I just got back from their house and he looks like a new man. The swelling has gone WAY down and he could even get his wedding band on for the first time. They kept him pretty late and gave him steroids and some strong antibiotics. Whew! What a week it's been. Steph said the medical term is Chlorhexidine and they not only wash the patient, but they sterilize the instruments in it, etc. too. I've only had surgery once, and they asked me if I was allergic to iodine - so that's what I've always referred to it as. I detest the smell of iodine to this day because of that. *GAG*
