lOve the O!
Hey everyone- I am alive- still trying to make it through. Unlike Chris no snow for us these past few days. I had a busy week at work and it is not over yet. I have been reading through the past two weeks (has it really been that long???) and want you all to know I love you and wish you a wonderful day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks to all for the nice birthday wishes. Got up early and made a lovely breakfast coffee cake for my DH and I. (LOL if I do say so myself) I was up early to watch hockey any way so made sense to be nice to him as he was out shoveling the couple of inches that fell during the night. Heard today on the local news that Newark has had over 53 inches of snow this winter and it is nearing a top 10 snowiest winter and I can believe it. My son did an excellent job yesterday getting rid of the 13 inches. But of course life is never perfect as my oldest son did not remember that yesterday was my birthday. Oh well. Today is supposed to get above freezing so I may head out later and walk around to see just how pretty the river looks.

Laurie glad to you have just been busy.

Chris our school system is delayed opening what are they doing up by you? I can't believe we are getting more snow come Sat.

Phylis hope you did not get too much snow.

Trudy thanks for starting that birthday tread!

Have a great day all!

Laurie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome to see your happy face in here!!!

Yup, no school or work again for us. What a mess it is out there. Bring on summer ASAP!!!!! I have absolutely no idea how much snow we got. It a LOT!! My neighbor estimates about 18". Not sure about how much ice. I am really glad that we got driveway and cars all cleared as good as we did during the lull because we got slammed all over again overnight. It was so windy that I thought for sure we were going to lose power. It was flickering for a while so we got candles and flashlights all ready. It is still windy and blowing snow like crazy now. And guess what?? We are getting more snow tonight into tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

*stomps my feet*

Just let's get all of this out of Mother Natures system this weekend and be DONE with it!!

So I got a bit of "good-ish" news yesterday. You all know me, I take what crumbs I can get!!!! LOL
The woman who schedules the PICC insertions called me yesterday. She had gotten the msg from my drs office, but of course they were closed due to the freaking weather. (sorry, i cannot seem to help myself with the snow-complaining). But she had checked my chart and wanted to schedule me for a tentative date. As long as everything goes as planned with insurance coverage for the insertion, I go in Wed the 19th. Please keep fingers and toes crossed that the insurance will cover it all. They should. but ya just never know. Hopefully I will know by Monday if all that will go fwd or not.
 I am so incredibly bad at waiting!!!!! Patience is a virtue my a$$!!!!!!!!!

Weather-Bitch!! Ahhh! You got hit too!!!?? So sorry to hear that. You saw the pics that Nana posted on FB?? Just awful!!!! There has got to be a way to ship all of this out to California. Has to be. Can't they scoop it all into tanks and send it there? I know that just in my driveway we have run out of places to shovel it.
Love the happy stars!!!

I tried two new recipes this week and they were both Meh. :(
Wish I could help you on that. But I am in the same place as you.

Trudy- how is your weather today? Hope the winds slowed down. I will come help you. I'd much rather do yard clean up then shoveling. ;)

Nancy- oh wow, your poor DH! DId he have any trouble getting back home? I saw that the roads were much better during evening rush- I guess the lull and the fact that so many people were off the roads helped. But I am sure Mass Transit wasn't all that much fun.
Sorry to hear that your were snowed in on your b-day. Enjoy the Frozen Four!! Awesome gift!!!!

Knee-Deep: OMG you all would have been laughing your butts off at me yesterday. Scott and I needed to shovel out the doors on the shed in case we lost power we could get to the generator. I was trying so hard to walk through the snow but it was well over knee deep for me, and I kept falling. I had to shovel a small path through the back yard just to get back out!!! :pound:

Hi Fran!!!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

We have the day off school because of conferences. So, dentist, errands, get Ben a hair cut, bring home lunch, and clean the house! :) Such a romantic day. LOL

I just can't believe how much snow you guys have getting and you're getting more. And here the Californians are worried about drought...and so are we. Crazy.

It was about 35 here yesterday, so it was a heat wave. But then we had freezing drizzle last night. Nebraska weather....

I will come back and do personals later. I have to get ready to go to the dentist. bleh See you all soon!

'morning, peoples. doing some baking to take down to The Grands house this weekend. i love apricot. wish i could eat it. this is the weirdest recipe. it's kind of like a split open nut roll with only apricot filling and beaten egg whites inside. but it is SOOOOOOOOOO good. wish i could eat some. gonna have to experiment with the recipe and almond flour and low carb apricot jam at some point.

it's been snowing this morning, but it doesn't look like it will amount to much. i hope.

Chris. yikes. it sounds like a Snowmageddon Nightmare!! yes, i did see Linda's Facebook pictures. she said there was 21" there and it was still snowing. i think the east coast and mid-atlantic should have a GIANT Party on the first day of spring. although once it snowed 10" here on St. Patrick's Day.... glad you're getting stuff scheduled, the weather notwithstanding. waiting is THE WORST!

Nancy, good for you, you romantic person! baking a cake in the morning for your Hubby is above and beyond. apparently i only do stuff like that for my kids. i used to do a lot of baking for Sunday morning breakfast when i was younger, but not anymore.

Sara, i hope your weather straightens out. freezing drizzle, to me, is worse than 10" of snow! hope your trip to the dentist goes well.

Hey, Laurie!!

Trudy, thanks for the yum recipe!

looks like the snow has stopped. i have to get out to run a few errands today, since i was stuck inside yesterday. so. off i go. have a Friday filled with NO SNOW, ICE, FREEZING DRIZZLE!! :becky:

No romance here at my place, DH and I have never really celebrated it. Guess it was because when we were a young family we figured that money that you spend on cards, candy, flowers etc. could be better spent on things that were needed at home. Besides, I don't need candy and flowers to know that my hubby loves me more than ever!! Gosh I'm a boring old fart aren't I :becky:

Laurie - How nice to see you here this morning!! Glad that you are busy with your work and hope that everything else is going ok with you and your family!!

Nancy - Take some pictures of your river if you go there today!! I bet its beautiful with all that snow around it!! Too bad your son did not remember your big day, my daughter is always good for reminding her brother that it is our birthdays, so he is lucky that way! Enjoy the "Frozen Four" a perfect birthday gift for you!!

Chris - Sure hope Mother Nature is done with all this winter crap!!! Looks like it was a huge storm system that has moved through your area!! Is there still more to come tonight?? I did see Nana Linda's photos, wow that's a lot of snow! We are having another storm here on the West Coast too, but with the mild temps its all rain, rain, rain!!!! Lots of wind and snow on the mountains, so our local hill is opened once again and they are thrilled with the white stuff they have gotten over the past couple of days. One more storm system sitting out on the Pacific Ocean waiting to hit us this weekend, so I will need you to come and help out with the clean up in the backyard!! :becky: Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for your insurance coverage on your PICC line!! Glad that you finally have some goodish news!

Sara - No romance for you either huh?? Not a great way to spend the morning, at the dentist :mmph: Sounds like your weather is crazy like everywhere else, except without the white stuff!!

Phylis - DD's new computer came with windows 8 and it looks like its a nightmare for my poor DD who is not that great with computers in the first place.

now I have to try to help her with it and I am a Mac person.

Have to make a run to Walmart :pout: I hate going there, but its the least expensive place to get the few things that I need. Other than that I will FaceTime with DD and Mason and help her out with her new computer she got for her birthday. Her real birthday is not until Sunday, but Jonah wanted to give her the computer early so she could have it all set up for her open house peekaboo beans party on Saturday. She was thrilled to get it!! So nice to see the happiness in her face!!

Afternoon, all! Happy Valentine's Day. I'm getting a great gift from my sweetie: he's taking my sister shopping! That is true devotion. It's the day before my computer genealogy group meeting and I have learned that I am not meant to spend the day before running errands (because I'm never ready in a timely manner!) Actually am supposed to be working on my afternoon presentation right now.

I also have an encouraging word: cardinals and house finches are singing! That means this frozen land will really someday turn to spring. They are resident birds who respond to the longer daylight, not the temperature. But it sure is nice to wake and hear birdsong.

Hope everyone is coping and a belated Happy Birthday to Nancy!
