Nooooooo~~~~~

Wah!
last day of August..... so sad! I know a lot of moms have already sent their kids back to school. I still have a few more days. We don't go back until Thursday. I am going to try and get work done this weekend and catch up on life. (Didn't I say I was going to do that last week??? hahahaah!!!)

The beach was so nice yesterday, it was hot and sunny and a good place for me to be. I was feeling so wretched (female crap) that if I were home I would have just laid on the floor moaning. Can't do that in the sand, it's too scratchy! LOL

No plans for me this weekend except housework and driving kids around. Scrapping?? Maybe I can get something done?
I should really work on my IL's birthday gifts. I want to scrap/print some photos for them of their trip to Ireland. I have done a few pages so far but nothing is really hitting me as the one I want for their gift.

Who has fun plans this long weekend in the US?

Friday:

Nancy- the day at the Open sounds like so much fun! Does you neck feel like it has whiplash?
And awesome news about the DMV/License Renewal. Maybe that will be a good thing for everyone.

Trudy- its been so long since I have had to do one-handed typing :D Hugs to your and your fam!

Oh Yuck, Phyllis, this wall paper project sounds miserable!!! Funny sotry about my house when we bought it-- its funny now, 18 years later.....
The ceiling in our bedroom was wallpapered. A god-awful blue/green/brown pattern. First attempts were to peel it off. No luck. Second attempt was that we tried to stucco it over. The paper was so dark it still showed through. Last attempt-- we had to sheet rock over the ceiling to cover it. Yup, I now have two ceilings in my bedroom, one over the other with a sandwich filling of that wallpaper. God help us if we ever have to re-sheet rock any of the walls in out bedroom cuz teach piece have to be cut 1/4" down to fit. *snorts*

Hope you wallpaper removal goes better than that. (I obviously have no tips to help!)

good morning - hard to believe this is Labor day weekend - where did the summer go? But my weatherman said that it is to be hot and humid with chance of thunder storms. So I guess it is still summer weather LOL. My DH and sons are going canoeing down the Delaware River on Sunday and I am going to a BBQ at my girlfriends. I have to figure out what to bring. I am not a cook so I never can figure out what to bring. Other than that I will be scrapping and watching TV.

Chris enjoy some time at your lake. Chris you ceiling story tells me why I am also not a DYI girl.

Laurie have a wonderful time at the wedding.

Phylis I hope the champagne was wonderful!

Phylis

Have a great day all!

Oh and almost as exciting as the wedding, we are going to a Wegman's store!! Just a grocery store- well a big chain that started in the city the wedding is in, and we do not have any near where we currently live.

Morning Ozies... Going to be a warm sunny day here today, we got drenched with rain the last couple of days so seeing the sun again is great! Today we are off to the city to do some clothes shopping for DD. Then home and hopefully we can have a fire in the firepit in the backyard tonight. DD has been wanting to do that, but we have had a fire ban all summer. It's now lifted, so yay!! Can't believe that tomorrow is her last day here and then we are off to the airport and the long flight to Ontario. What will we do with this big empty house all to ourselves??? I will go through empty nest syndrome all over again. How depressing!!! Sorry to be a downer to everyone, I will try to catch up with all of you later, but I must get ready to go and everyone is hungry so some breakfast has to be prepared first. Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Hi everyone!! It's a calm (sorta) weekend for me. I'm about to launch a new blog series on quilt blocks tomorrow, so I'm non-frantically trying to sew a bunch of blocks ahead of time so I'm not freaking out in the middle of the month. Otherwise we are pretty much starting to embrace the "new normal!" Labor Day always throws me as far as getting into the routine of things, but it will be a much needed vacation from school and work this weekend!! Super big hugs to everyone!!!

love and joy to all of you!!!

Hi girls!!

I'm soooooo happy that vacation is over, just one day and night and then I can take the kids to school again :bounce: :hail:
I must say it was a nice vacation, they behaved well this year, but 6 weeks is just to long when you can only stay at home :(
I hope to have a bit more time to come and chat here, but I will be busy preparing our move also ...

have a nice sunday!!

now THIS gave me my morning laugh!

i remember the long sigh of relief when my own wee pickles got on the bus. remembering my own kiddos as little ones with a bit of nostalgia this morning. enjoy yours while they're young!!

Chris, what ever made people wallpaper a ceiling?? i mean, you'd have to be nuts!! it's hard enough wresling with putting the stuff up on walls, but can you imagine doing that overhead?? i can't. what you've done is make me feel better about what i'm having to do. so, THANKS!! :cheer2:

Nancy, i love how you focussed on the champagne! that's what i tried to do. it was lovely!

Trudy. :hurt: well. there's always SKYPE. make them Skype you a least nice a week. that's what i do when The Grandmen are on the other end of the earth. not as good as real life hugs, but a Gramma's gotta do what a Gramma's gotta do. (((hugs)))

Sally, you are an amazing quilting machine! i'd love to see you work IRL. i was a complete and total flop as a quilter.

Angela, enjoy your 'free" time while your guys are in school! in the USA, our summer vacation is almost 3 months long, so you can imagine how crazy Moms are by the end of that!

it's raining like mad here, from all directions. honestly. it can really be like a jungle where i live sometimes. my BIL from Wyoming thinks Pennsylvania looks like a golf course. i guess it does, only a lot less "manicured." DD's coming over for dinner and some financial counseling from Hubby today. i may go up the ladder and have at the wallpaper glue with my steamer for a little while. (it gets old very fast....) and this place need "red up," as we say in the local vernacular, so i'd better get moving.

Happy Sunday, Ozies. :becky:

Happy Sunday and Happy Spetember! The only thing I am happy about with Back to School is that I will feel like I have a bit more of a routine in my life. The bad part of that is trying to get two teenagers awake and out the door every morning. Why does HS have to start so early? ;)

I am feeling very lazy today. I was feeling very lazy yesterday too but I really pushed myself. Stripped all of the beds, 2 loads of laundry, scrubbed Gary's shower. I steam cleaned all of the downstairs again. Why do my cats pee on the carpet right next to the littler box? You know, the one that I scoop every single day? I have three boxes and three cats-- they can even claim their own. I'll even make little signs for them: "Heather's Litter Box. All others will be prosecuted." gah!!!

Today is just a lot of driving. Cait is off to a friend's house and he lives 25 minutes away. Then to get Scott from his GF's 50 min's from there. Then back home (hopefully, he is the one driving back) which is another 45 minutes. Then I have to get Cait at 5 pm, 25 min's back and forth again. Sheesh!

Laurie, hope that you had a nice time at the wedding and that the weather for the beach is better than it is here.

Trudy-- yet another reason to adopt me... you won't have empty nest...... hoping for an easy trip with Heather and back home again. And Hugs to you , I imagine that the house will be very quiet :(

Hi Sally! I have been seeing a lot of friend's posting on FB about college football season starting-- bet you are ready!

Tracy LOL- congrats on the new computer! Enjoy all of that scrap time tooooo!

Angela- hi!! Great to see you back in here and good luck with all of your back to school stuff with the kids!

Phyllis- If you saw all of the different wallpapers that this house had when we moved in, you'd cry. The little office that I had is 10x10 (8x8 maybe??? Tiny either way) and it was covered with wallpaper with tiny blue flowers. And matching curtains. If you looked at it for too long, you'd get dizzy. Literally have vertigo.hahaha!!! *That* was an experience trying to rip/scrape that off.
Hope that you have success with the steamer.......I do not envy you one bit.
More champagne tonight, perhaps??

Have a great one everyone!!

good morning - just got back from a quick run to the grocery store. No one there on a Sun morning - I asked my DH to get water but he wont because he thinks I should drink from the tap but the water tastes bad LOL. I should really get a britta. But makes me mad that just because he does not like the bottle water he wont get it for me. The man has control issues. Oh well I am certainly capable of getting my own. Off later to my BBQ while the boys canoe.

To all of you who have kids going back to school - enjoy the free time but as Phylis says it goes so fast make sure to enjoy the time. Easy to forget the little things.

Trudy Skype really is the way to go when loved ones are far away. I know I can also use face time because we all have iPhones

Phylis I am hoping your rain holds off or goes north and misses me. Be careful on that ladder!

Have a great day all!

Morning O fam- the wedding was so much fun!! Some weddings are well, weddings and some you feel like you want to send the couple a thank you note for letting you be a part of their special day- this was the latter!! The bride does not like cake, so we had cheesecake-mmm

So we are back home. The wedding was the highlight of the weekend. The speeding ticket on the way home and the power being off for who knows how long and still off, not so much. One more hour till the predict it will be on.
