Happy weekend! Did everyone get to sleep in and ignore the world for a bit before they got out of bed? I slept until.... *drum roll* ... 4.45 am! That was even later than yesterday. I thought it was the middle of the night it was so dark.

I wish I knew what I was doing with my life- every day is just so ..... nothing. o_O;)
I starting scrapping a page of me and Gary and at least the photo of us makes me smile. We are still darn cute together. But I can't seem to get it the way I want it, it is a combination of bland yet too busy. I am trying to get better at clustering and finding that sweet spot with the right amount of elements and color and dimension is escaping me. If anyone has tips, I am all ears.

I was in the kitchen again for most of the morning. I made a big batch of pulled pork in the crockpot and any meat that looks like an animal makes me want to throw up. Thank goodness that it takes all day to cook so I can go back to pretending that it isn't anything other than wrapped in plastic. I am getting inundated with cukes and tomatoes. This is the best year I ever had for tomatoes. I made some more pickles and tomato salad (Panzanella without any bread :( )
Maybe there will be bread at the FP today. Cait and I are going to run over there this morning so I am going to keep my fingers crossed.
The hurricane is going to stay east of us so we shouldn't;t get much more than some rain and wind. I am keeping my eye on the weather track in case I should have to put the potted plants somewhere safe.

Have a great day!

@tanteva Oooh, thank you so much for the article! I always figured that I was sleeping more than my brain was telling me but it is so interesting to see how the brain activity is tracked like that and there might be something off in my brain. (Ok-- stop laughing. Yes, I have more than "something" off in my brain!! :D )
Now we just have to find how to get past the higher threshold of sleep inhibition. What do you do to help that?

@Cherylndesigns *cries* I don't want fall weather. I have to focus on Halloween, that is always the highlight. And I do enjoy autumn food, butternut squash pasta is really yummy and so is apple pie and banana bread. [hungry smilie]
hahaha!!!! I love it- Now go away so I can hobble again!!!
I looked up Johnson Grass and it sounds like it is a PAIN to get out since it spreads through rhizomes. Good luck with it!
I am gonna go and cry some more, this time in jealousy over Adrienne's kitchen. Don't mind me and my tiny, disorganized space with no countertops. Wahhh!!!
Did she have everyone over? And did she send Lila to come get you when it was time? ;)

@nancyr we had a bit of sun poking out yesterday but it was misty most of the day, When I was out with the dogs or picking the veggies, I was getting dripped on. I will be wishing that it was only drips by this time tomorrow. Are you closer to the storm's cone?
Hope that you are able to get your DP soon. I remember last year when your DS would find it for you during lockdown
What is the name of the TV show?

xoxo!

Yesterday was a lo-o-o-n-n-n-g day. Had an appointment in the morning with my Primary Care Doc's PA as the PC doc was not available. It was about the muscles spasms in the back. She was great and did a through exam. She put me on a muscle relaxer but said it would take a few days on them to get full relief. I also had lab work to do for a couple of refills on meds so did that while I was there. Then had to wait at the Pharmacy for the muscle relaxer Rx to be filled. Was so glad to get home and get on the massager unit. Had an early supper (5 PM) then laid in recliner to read - only to fall hard asleep for a few of hours. Woke up at 8 PM and staggered off to bed and fell back asleep only to wake up at 3 AM. Was able to go back to sleep until 7 AM. Spasms are still there so will be limiting my sitting/scrapping for awhile yet.

Sorry no personals today. Need to limit my sitting time for the next several days. CYL

I don't even know what it is. Tried to google but didn't make me any wiser. But I'm sure the answer is mindful meditation. :D

(Notice, I didn't even mention the brain thing)

Helloooooo

Happy Saturday!!!

Chris @faerywings I want fall! You didn't live in Florida for years - I missed fall SO much!! Sorry to bring that on you, but it's SO exciting for me. ROTFLMBO Think of your skeletons. Fall brings skeletons!!!

Kay @BrightEyes nice to hear that you found a good doctor. That's awesome news, these days. I hope the meds help.

Sorry I haven't been around much today. We've had a heat advisory today, but I don't think it ever got to that. EEEKKKKK I'm SO ready for cooler weather.

I'm going to do something - I've been trying to get myself organized. I ordered a new bedspread, bed skirt and darn - a floor lamp. They were supposed to arrive today, but didn't. :( I keep thinking I can re-invent myself. ROTFLMBO

Happy Sunday! It is quiet before the storm although I read that we got heavy-duty rain overnight. I am relieved that Henri is tracking east of us and am sending good thoughts to those in its path.
Let's see, how was my day yesterday? My big score at the FP was a 2 lb bag of shredded cheddar cheese. So exciting! We eat a lot of cheese here. That was good and so was a bag of dog food. No Italian bread or rolls which was a bummer but I had a bag of croutons in the cabinet that I had forgotten about and they work in Panzanella in a pinch.

I don't think I did much of anything else yesterday- I finished the LO I had been struggling with and ACDSee is still working *knocks wood* I spent a little more time deleting the duplicate files that I copied over. I cannot get over how much scrap stuff I have accumulated over the years. I did a little bit of purging while I was at it. I am going to need to go back and do more, that is for sure.

I don't know what I am going to work on today- I really need to clean the house a bit. As soon as the humidity is gone. I *have* to steam clean the carpets, they smell like dog. Caitlyn and Tom are doing vegan baking today (They are so cute together), Scott is at Leah's (also so cute together), and Gary and I are doing our own thing (very cute together!) He is going to have to take a look at our dishwasher- it is flashing a code that the heating element is busted. Just great. At least washing dishes by hand isn't the end of the world like not having a washing machine absolutely is.

have fun today!

Kay- I am relieved that you are taking muscle relaxers, sometimes they are the only thing that can break that cycle of spasms. I still have a few Flexeril left over from the last time that happened- I hoard them just in case I do it to myself again. You must have really been in bad shape, hope you feel some relief soon.

@tanteva The sleep inhibition bit was in the English article you shared. The research was that in all brains there is a threshold of when the mind recognizes it is asleep and it matches with the brain activity. Insomniac brains have a higher threshold of that point so the brain activity is in "sleep" but the consciousness isn't yet. I am paraphrasing what I read yesterday so it's possible I got some of that explanation wrong.
(Notice, I didn't even mention the brain thing)
I admire your restraint! :D

I cannot get over how much scrap stuff I have accumulated over the years.

I was just thinking about that the other day, and I got a bit sad, I guess we can call it. So many kits & other stuff, that's just sitting there on the EHD, not getting used. Some of it is very old & not useful at all, but I have so much stuff that could make lovely layouts, like collabs from stores that no longer is, or retired kits.

Got me thinking: why is there such a need (at least within me), that I have to post my layouts somewhere? Why can't I just make the layouts for myself, and be happy with that? It's like I need the approval from others, which to be honest isn't that much either. On a good day, a layout might get like 10 comments.

I wish there was a gallery where you could share "A blast from the past layouts". That would be fun.

Or I just should learn not to seek approval for everything I do. :)

An early in and out today. Yes, the medicine is helping with the back spasms. I was able to finally stand straight yesterday for the 1st time since this all started. Unfortunately the meds wore off over-night, so waiting for them to take effect since the morning dose. Still not up to sitting for very long,

Cheryl, I am with you... will be so glad when cooler fall weather arrives! At least we are having some cooler weather early in the mornings - mid-60's - so I can have the house open for a few hours then. Love the light breezes blowing through the house - airing it out. So sorry you hurt yourself trying to dig out the Johnson Grass but glad you found some of the DayLilies. Hope they survive in their new place.

Eva, I hear you about having a lot of scraping stuff. I do make up LOs with them for personal pages... not just for challenges. Many of the LOs are for Hubby's Memory Albums. They give me comfort to page through them and recall the years and events we shared.

Chris, glad to hear that Braxton invited his brother, Rambone, for a visit. hahahaha Hey, great snag on the goodies from FP. I love cheese, too. As long as I have some shredded cheese and/or slices, I can figure out something for meals. Really hoping the Henri gives your area a miss.

good morning - well it seem that Henri is heading east of me but we are getting lots of rain. It is the kind of rain that come in bands of heavy then nothing. The town or state not sure which but the river level was lowered a lot yesterday so that when the rains came it would not flood. It is high but so far (and I hate to say it) not flooding. Yesterday was busy. Went to lunch with my girlfriend and her daughter. It was great to catch up! Ate outdoors as it was just cloudy and humid. Her daughter is just married and living in another town and she is missing all the great restaurants in our town. And for me they are in walking distance so that makes it even better. Then for dinner went to my son's BBQ. He makes the best smoked chicken and ribs. And I love his sides. My son's usual helper was delayed so of course he called his dad. My DH is really good about helping. He likes the food too. Today is just to stay inside and watch the rain pull away.

@faerywings Chris glad you got some great food at the FP. We go through a lot of cheese here too! How fun to have Cait and Tom baking. It makes a house smell so good. Glad that the hurricane decided to avoid NJ this time.

Kay I am so sorry the back is giving you such fits. Sounds like it was a great doctor's visit as it was not rushed. Glad the medication was working. Enjoy reading!

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl I like the fall but I like not having to worry about gloves, scarfs, coats and boots when it gets cold. I always lose something. I never make it through the winter. Also I hate the days getting shorter. I know fall is beautiful!

have a great day all!

Nancy @nancyr I hear you about the coats and scarves. I got by last year with a heavy jacket and a huge scarf. I hate big ole heavy coats! I kept thinking I'd have to get one last year, but I didn't. Last winter was our first for many years, since we'd lived in FL for so many years. The winters here, typically, aren't terrible. We got caught in that Artic Blast last year, though. That wasn't typical and it didn't last too long. Brought out our "Pioneer Spirit". Hahaha

I hope Henri stays away!

Well, the Johnson Grass is gone. Chuck and I had been whacking away at it with a spade and were making some progress - that thing was HUGE! Braden stopped by yesterday and said "you want that out of there, Cici?" I told him yes and he reached down and pulled it out like it was a dandelion. LMBO! He's so big and I don't even think he knows his own strength. Cracked me up! The root ball on that thing was so big. He took it out and threw it down the hill. I hope that darned thing doesn't find it's way back up here. There was another root ball under the big grass, so he pulled that one out too. It looks so weird to see it gone now - that's how big that thing was.

I got a LO done for Momma O's Challenge last night. I'm going to go post it.

Have a good Sunday.

@felis As long as you aren't here with us because you are busy doing FUN and HAPPY things, it's great. You just pop in when you have time, and let us know you are OK. Enjoy the last days of summer. It sure feels like fall is here now ... weather is behaving as if it were October!
