Good morning, ladies! :pillowfight:

Happy Valentines Day!
I bring some sweets in our break room for you.
Valentine.jpg

How is it with you? Do you get flowers from your loved ones? We don't get any gifts for Valentine's Day. It's our anniversary in a few days (30! years - I think) so flowers or an invitation to dinner would be appropriate.
When I drove to get bread rolls (Brötchen) this morning, "Sweet Home Alabama" was playing on the car radio. I love the song and so I turned the radio up to full volume. A good start to the day, I think. It's been crazy cold here, but at least the sun is shining. That gives us hope for spring. I can hardly wait to work in the garden again. Last year we had sun from May to October! That's very unusual for our latitudes! We enjoyed it and loved being outside all day. My first summer without having to go to work! Wonderful! However, it was far too dry. By the beginning of July we had no green lawn! But it has rained so much in the last few weeks that I hope the planet will recover a little.

@ LSlycord some of the sweets are without sugar!!!

@ faerywings nice pictures with the family! Enjoy beiing together!! :heartpumpred:

@ Cherylndesign such a cute picture of Sam!! :heartpumpred:

@ Nonni F
I can understand you very well. Our pets are part of the family. You live with them, they trust us and we are responsible for their lives. When they are sick, we often blame ourselves. Have we done something wrong? It's the same here with me. We want them to be well, that's what we do everything for. Unfortunately, there are fates that are out of our hands! My first dachshund Karlchen was poisoned. He hadn't done anything to anyone. He was the dearest dachshund ever. And yet someone disturbed him. Self-reproach never ends, even if you couldn't help it. That was 17 years ago ... you'll never get rid of the images in your head. A special hug for you

Have a nice day!

Good morning @Su_Sanne and thank you for the Valentine's chocolates :beatingheart: I'll share some Valentine's coffee to go with them. #coffee1
We don't celebrate Valentine's Day here. I used to when the kids were little and when I was teaching. But now I am just an old grump when it comes to Hallmark Holidays. ;)
Happy upcoming Anniversary. Gary and I will be married 30 years in May and it really doesn't feel like it has been that long.
That is just awful about your dog, Karlchen. I am so sorry.

The weather here has been really strange too. My friend who lives across the street asked if I wanted to go for a walk in the afternoon. While we were out, I joked that typically I would never be out for a walk in the middle of February. I wanted to go out and do some yard work yesterday morning but I know I shouldn't, that the plants will need something to cover them if it ever snows. I noticed my crocuses are popping up already, that is more than a month early :(

I called my mom at 9 am and the first thing she said to me was how early I was calling. Then she busted on me about getting the days wrong. Then I asked her if she would take my kidney if she ever needed it. She told me no. I understand her reasoning. She said that she would only gain a few years at most and leave me with 30-40 years with only one kidney. It makes sense and I honestly don't even know if she is/would be a candidate for a transfer. But I had to make the offer and maybe if it ever comes down to it, she will reconsider.

(This is how wacky we are, we can go from laughing about calendar mishaps to offering organs on a dime haha!)

No big plans for today. The kids are going to be around for a while today then they are all going out for Trivia Night. Gary and I will be alone for dinner, do I bother making something special? Or are we going to sit in front of the TV and eat leftovers?
Big decisions.#predict

Love and hugs!!

@LSlycord That would be so much fun to drive to the Parade but maybe more in concept rather than in practice LOL! I shake my head at things my kids do and think they are out of their minds. Then Gary and I look at each other and realize that is either something we did or would have done way back when.
Did you have any luck with the insulin?

@Nonni F (((((((((hugs))))))))) I can sense the guilt and regret you feel over your Jelly Bean. He must have had the cutest little beans. Unfortunately, s*** happens and we can only try our best to not beat ourselves up over it. My pets are like my babies too so I understand. keep sharing pictures of him and all your furbabies, I love seeing them. I know that some of it is the perspective of the photo but were his front paws that big? How many toes did he have? Polys always fascinated me.

@vickyday I am sure that you know the right way to say things to your fellow church member and I hope that she leans on you when she needs you. You have such a good heart.
I think you inspired me a tiny bit-- I threw another sweatshirt into the donate bag. And I threw out some old eyeliners too. Baby steps in all things, right??? The dresser redo sounds like it will be adorable when you paint it. We can't get rid of Scott's dresser either. Gary painted the sorcerer's apprentice on it and it is really cute. It's in the attic now but unless someone has kids (neither of mine wants them), I guess that it is where it will stay.

Linda, ugh ugh ughhhhhhhhhhh. So I see you got through to the Dr office, so that is a start. Next step-- did the Dr ever get back to you?
I saw you posted about Decker on FB recently and that was such a heartbreaking time for you and your family. You really did *everything* you possibly could for that boy. He will always be in your hearts. :hug2:

@bcgal00
Do you ever feel like you are being biased around by animals? Between Remi and the birds, they seem to have your number :D
that was supposed to say "bossed" not biased :p
That sounds like a nice dinner that you are making for the family. Horror movies would be my choice over romance ones too. Have fun and don't get too scared. Just enough to jump closer to D now and then *winks and wiggles eyebrows*
No way, Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd in Season Three- that sounds ah-may-zing!

@taxed4ever I haven't read that book, but it sounds funny. I searched on Hoopla and Libby and it's not there but I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Did you have any luck with PS? Hope so! You have a few busy days coming up, enjoy them and *fingers crossed that your player came in too!*

Arline-- I have been noticing the longer days too and OMG, that makes me happy! :dance2:
The whole No Brakes thing is so scary since he drives on narrow, winding mountain roads to get home. They are rough even *with* brakes. He can use my car as long as he needs. The brake line rusted off and he thinks he can fix it on his own, just needs to get the parts.

@BrightEyes It must have felt nice to get some new LOs up but not so nice that it bothered your injuries. I thought of you yesterday when walking with my friend. Her DH has a bum shoulder on his left side and severe carpal tunnel on the other. He hasn't slept well in weeks. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? :(
Hope that the winter weather isn't too bad for you.

@Cherylndesigns You guys are warmer than here in NJ but sheesh, it's creepy how warm it is. (not that I am complaining, but yikes about the climate!). Hahaha, between the two of us, we *should* be able to get a general idea of when and where we are! :rotfl:
I love hearing how Sam interacts with you all now, I remember it was a rough start. Sassy Pants Sam and you wouldn't have him any other way :D

Arline- I think I would be drawn to the Dislikes Humans kitty. We would be able to commiserate together. It's like the memes you see around- "The more I get to know humans, the more I like my dog" ~> that is me.
I am so glad that you gave that kitty a chance. All of our pets have been rescues and some had assimilated faster/better than others.

:clubparty: and have fun today!

Good morning. Happy Valentine's Day! We won't do anything to celebrate. When we were first married, I'd get long stemmed roses and candy and we would go to dinner. Then, once the kids came along, it was totally focused on them. Then when the kids outgrew Valentine's Day parties, we packed this holiday away!

The insulin saga continues. I got a new prescription from the doctor around noon yesterday. When I went to pick it up at the pharmacy around 5, they had to order it. It should be here sometime this afternoon. What a nightmare!

Then I woke up to the mass shooting on the college campus of Michigan State...one of the largest colleges in this country. Three dead and five wounded. We have friends with a daughter going there. I can't imagine the panic. Yesterday, the Facebook groups that I am in for parents of UF kids reported two separate incidents of a male student spitting on a female student. One was in the elevator of an apartment building and one was walking on the campus and the guy went past on his bicycle and spit on her.

So today my mood is kind of ugly. Goes back and forth between anger and sadness. I'm going to go refill my coffee and I'll be back for personals.

Woke up to snow... not a lot - 2" - but the roads are icy. With more snow later this afternoon/evening. Suppose to have lunch with the gals but I am going to pass on it. Don't feel like driving (20 miles one way) especially on icy roads. Better to stay home and be safe. Think this may be a PJ day for me. :giggle4:

More "walking the wall" and it is getting easier to do. I can now raise my arm up about 3/4 of the way without being against the wall! Progress!!! Once I can raise it all the way, will start working on the side-to-side movements. Slow but steady progress.

No personals yet... but I am reading the posts and thinking of all of you. HAGD

@Su_Sanne Happy Valentines Day! We don't celebrate at our house. At least we say we don't or won't. Seems to be a tradition of don't do anything, but I'll end up leaving a bag of Reese on his dresser (his favorite) and I'll come home to a bottle of wine. Sort of like we agree to NOT celebrating a Hallmark Holiday, but in case the other does... we'd better have something.

Like you, I am looking forward to getting out into the yard and gardening. The weather is teasing us at the moment. It feels like spring... but, isn't.

@faerywings Calendar Mishaps to organ donations. I like how you roll. One of my coworkers has stage 4 cancer (easier to list what organs AREN'T affected than which ones are.) He comes to work every day and one of our fellow co workers commented one day about us always going from death to donuts and back again. So many people ignore the elephant in the room. I do my best to embrace it. It's not going away. Leave nothing unsaid. Have no regrets.

I'll attach a photo of the Beans feet for you. They were huge. One evening I'll also bore you to sleep with the memorial tattoo I got of his footprint (actual size) and the nightmare that experience ended up being.

Good morning @Su_Sanne! Thanks for thinking of us with those chocolates. They are my favorite kind...no effect on my blood sugar at all. ;) I love Sweet Home Alabama...I sing along every time that comes on the radio! Love how you are learning all of our English slang.

@faerywings that's the way we are...remembering things that we did. Before Brian and I were married, a friend and I drove all the way home through a blizzard from Louisville, KY so we would be able to get basketball tickets as soon as they went on sale. Not our smartest move...but we made it alive. That's when I started drinking coffee. And we definitely had those conversations in my family.

@BrightEyes that sounds like some real progress on the shoulder. And a very good decision on the drive over icy roads...a PJ day sounds perfect.

@bcgal00 I am another one who loves Murders in the Building and can't wait for another season to drop. When we were watching the first season, Shaun asked why Selena Gomez would work with those old guys. Oh my....he definitely got a history lesson on those old guys then. Looked like yesterday's walk was pretty amazing! Love the photos of the eagles!

@Nonni F I love those sweet photos. What a beautiful photo of Beans standing against the window...looks just like a child! Enjoy your bottle of wine! And I agree, I felt that I was the most fortunate person for being born in the USA but as you can see from my above post, I'm starting to feel quite grumpy about it.

@taxed4ever I have not tried that book. Adding it to the list! Sure hope the music player arrives and you can get back to the pool in comfort! Haircut and color day sounds like a good plan. I need to get that on my calendar.

@Cherylndesigns love the pictures of your cat. Sounds like your weather is good. Since it is mid-February, you may be totally into spring...just keep getting better and better. Yes, the place is close. Close enough that we can spend some time down there and get a really good feel for it before we decide anything.

@vickyday you are really on a roll with the decluttering. Slow and steady is perfect...no burnout that way!

Ok, I'm going to go check out the gallery. Talk to you all later. And happy Valentine's to some of my besties!

Good morning ladies. Happy Valentines Day. We don't do cards or gifts anymore. We'll have a good meal together and watch a few movies (like every night, so really no different). Last night we binged the first 3 episodes of Mayor of Kingstown. It is so brutal and graphic, by the end of the 3rd episode I had to stop for the night. It is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. I had to keep telling myself it is a tv show, not real. I love Jeremy Renner and he is phenomenal in this but boy, oh boy, it is intense and nasty. Then I watched a comedy to calm down and lighten the mood. If you haven't seen "Children Ruin Everything", I recommend it, it is so funny and love the cast.

Today I'll do a bit of scrapping, some gorgeous new kits in the store. I'll make brownie bars and then go to my eye exam later this afternoon. Then Jen and I will make our keto pizza for dinner (warm up leftover pizza for D) and settle in for a few scary movies. I'm sure the day is going to fly by. I have to get going, its time to get the food for the birds and hop in the shower. I'll come back later.
HAGD everyone.

Happy Valentines Day Ladies!! Hubby wished me the same this morning, but thats about as far as it goes for us on this day LOL. We are not big on Hallmark Holidays . We know how much we love each other, so why waste a bunch of $$ on things we don't need right?!! I know I'm an old grouch, just like @faerywings :giggle4: . I did not have a good sleep last night, tossed and turned and almost got up to read my e-book, but it was chilly and so staying under the covers was a better idea. No electronics in our bedroom, no tv, no phones no tablets, we both are too light of sleepers for any kind of light or noise in the room. So I would have had to get out of my nice warm bed and wrap myself in a blanket and turn on the fireplace, :hahano:I was too lazy to do that! I eventually went back to sleep, but then would be awake again 20 mins later. So I got up earlier than usual and will be dragging my butt around the house for the rest of the day! Maybe I can catch a nap while my hair processes at the hairdresser this afternoon LOL. At least it is a beautiful sunny day here and hopefully the sun sticks around for our hike tomorrow.

@Su_Sanne - Thanks so much for the chocolates this morning! They will go great with the coffee from Chris!! I will take the sugar-free ones please and I know that @bcgal00 will too as we are both Keto. Isn't it wonderful to be retired! You will enjoy working in your garden soon and I sure hope that we don't all have the hot dry weather that kills the grass again this year! We have had drought here for the past three years in the summer and it sure would be nice to have a lot more rain this year to fill the lakes and reservoirs! I don't like being on water restrictions!! I am so sorry about your sweet dog being poisoned!! How can that happen?? What is wrong with people? Even though it was a long time ago, you are right, the hurt never really goes away! Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! My DH and I will be celebrating our 46th Anniversary on the 26th also. Love that song Sweet Home Alabama!! I always crank the sound up when I hear it too!

@faerywings - Hope you find the book that I suggested, I could not get it in Audio, but did get the e-book through Rakuten Kobo, seems that there is some kind of ban on it being in Audio in Canada.. The Author is Bill Bryson, the same guy that wrote"A walk in the woods". He has quite a few books so I will have to try out a few more. How nice that you were able to get out for a walk, yes the weather sure is crazy! Too funny that you can swing from one conversation about calendar days to donating a kidney, of course you would give your Mom a kidney!! Of course she would never accept it!

@LSlycord - Sorry that you are not in the best mood today! Can't say as I blame you with all the craziness going on in the schools! Such a worry for everyone! Like I said before the world is going to Hell in a Hand basket!! Glad that you are finally able to get your medication but that is too bad that you had to wait once again for it! Hope that you find something to do today to brighten your day up a bit!

@Nonni F - Oh my gosh your beautiful kitty!! I love his colouring and his large feet! No wonder you miss him so very much! I love your attitude on life too! Yes we all need to embrace life and leave nothing unsaid!

@BrightEyes - Slow and steady Kay, sure hope that you can get back to your scrapping soon without the pain in the shoulder! Sounds like you are doing everything right! Take care of you!!

@bcgal00 - Did you get out for a drive with dogs yesterday! Hope you are getting all of this glorious sunshine where you are today! How is the job hunting going for Jen? Guess you must have gotten out as I have now seen the photos of the Eagles, they are amazing!

@Cherylndesigns - Love your ginger cat! My whole life I have had ginger cats! I just adore them! My last cat was a beautiful white chinchilla Persian however and he was not much of cuddler either.

Ok off I go to the shower before Heather gives me a Face Time call, have a great day everyone! :waving1

Happy Valentine's Day all! We don't do anything special either. We gave up gift giving for each other years ago. If we want something, we get it. That being said, I DID get Chuck something this year. There's a shop downtown that personalizes anything - and we were in there last week and I succumbed. They are the nicest guys and will work with you on any ideas you have. I saw these stone pieces - I think he said it was slate. It's about 5x7 and I had this picture of the two of us that Chuck loves. I texted it to one of them, right in the store, and he showed me a mock up of what it would look like on the front of the stone. We picked it up Saturday and it's stunning! Even better than I thought it would be. I'll take a picture of it today and post it tomorrow. Chuck just loves it and it will set on his desk. He has a special name for this picture and they added that to the front, too. He was VERY surprised when I gave it to him this morning.

Chris @faerywings I hear you about the bouncing around conversations. We always say "plot twist". :floorlaugh: You should see the guys trying to keep up with us. My dad used to say we all talked in shorthand. Yes, you know I love my Mr. Sassy Pants now! I forgot to tell you girls that he WILL let me scratch his chin now. That was a huge step. He even sticks his little chin out for me to scratch it. I always say "Let Momma scratch your chin". LOL He doesn't "allow" it for too long though - when he's done, he's done. Hey, I'll take what I can get.

Linda @LSlycord it's so scary right now - I'm sure with Syd being away at school, it hit you even harder. We spent a lot of time in E. Lansing - when we lived in Michigan, my sister lived just off-campus there and that's our favorite University - we all still follow State. It made me sick too when I first saw the news flash come through on my phone. So, have you gotten your insulin yet???? WHAT would one do if one was totally insulin dependent????? Makes me shiver to think about it.

@Su_Sanne thanks for the Valentine's chocolates.

Trudy @taxed4ever we've had 3 gingers now - I just love them. I love their tiget stripes. I was specifically looking for that and saw Sam on the HS website and he was still there, so we went out to meet him. Ended up bringing the little guy home with us.

Kay @BrightEyes yikes about the snow and slick roads. We missed that - our long range forecast looks pretty good - pretty normal for here. Sounds like you're making good progress and I'm glad you're not going to try to go meet the gals today. Stay inside.

@Nonni F your picture of Beans standing at the window is SO sweet. I just had to show you our Sam. Yes, they pick "their people". Very independent - that's why we love cats.

Gonna scoot - I need to post a LO in the pre-release and then get off of here and get in the shower.

XOXO

Had to chuckle.. while I said earlier I don't celebrate Valentines Day the Deputy Fire Chief had to take his dog to the vet today; He brought a kitty cat cake pop back to the office for me. :runningdog: I can't figure out if he brought them a batch and saved me one, or they gave it to him and he didn't want it. LOL
Either way... I ate it!

Good for you and the small step to decluttering! That's how I'm trying to do it! If I don't feel like it, I won't. Maybe I won't be overwhelmed by doing it that way!
Yes, the lady from church will agree to go in a couple of months, perhaps! If not, maybe by the time they start the meetings up again in September. They break for the summer during June - August.

SO.MUCH.VIOLENCE! It is a shame!

:waving1
I couldn't get the book you suggested either. But I went ahead and got some of his other audiobooks to try him out! Thanks for the suggestion!

Good Evening!
Busy day today. Left the house at 9:30 a.m. to pick up Carolyn and Ilene and drive an hour to the widows' meeting. We arrived just a few minutes late because of unexpected road work traffic delay. They had a good crowd of ladies today! It was so sweet. The pastor came out to the car and acted as the ladies' "valentine escort" into the building. His wife had another delicious lunch for the ladies and gave everyone a box of chocolates to take home.

Speaking of Valentines.....hope you all had a nice day. When I got up DH had left a beautiful card on the bathroom counter and had a message written on the bathroom mirror! When he kisses me goodbye every morning he says, "Hey Beautiful!....." That's what was on the card, too! He took me to supper tonight. That's what we normally do on "special" days. No gifts, just dinner out! Like @Cherylndesigns if we need something we just buy it! When we got married a couple of months before my birthday I told him I didn't want anything but dinner out! No flower.....no candy.....just dinner.....so I didn't have to cook and clean up, LOL! Christmas.....same thing. Easy for both of us!

No decluttering today. After we got back from the widows' meeting, Carolyn came home with me because she hadn't taken her purse or phone and her daughter was not home. She lives 4 minutes from me, so I texted her daughter to pick her up on the way home. We worked on the puzzle I have going at the moment. Her daughter showed up around 4. Mark and I left to eat about 4:30. We ate locally, so were not gone very long, but that's what I wanted to eat! Momma Mia's chicken philly and fries! YUM!

The weather was BEAUTIFUL today! I think the temp got to about 70° and lots of sunshine! Lots of daffodils popping through the ground and buds on the trees! I'm afraid it is so early that the weather will end up "nipping those buds" if you know what I mean, LOL!

Time to sign off. I might do some scrapping or more knitting tonight. I've knitted some baby tube socks and a baby bunny for Ilene's great grandchild due in May. I need to get some of that stuffing stuff. I never did finish the two different sizes of pink socks I started a couple of months ago, LOL!

TTYL!
