I stopped drinking regular coffee about six years ago because my blood pressure was getting high. My cardiologist is happy that I made the switch. However, I just found out that many companies use harmful chemicals to take the caffeine out of coffee. Some companies do use other methods that are not harmful. Here is a website where you can check your coffee brand to see if they use chemicals to process it.

Thank you SO much for posting this! On my last Keurig order, I swapped out Caribou decaf for something else and today I discovered I'd swapped Swiss water for chemicals! I just changed my order back to my Minnesota roots & Caribou. It's healthier all around to support my state's economy.

I am so glad you were able to change it back! It is astounding to me that they are allowed to use these chemicals in our coffee when there are safe ways to process it!

Thank you so much for sharing this, although we buy coffee beans. I'm a real coffee lover, and I really like strong coffee (espresso type), which cannot be found in any instant coffee. However is always good to check the list and if necessary, better to buy a good instant coffee free of chemicals :)

That is horrible!! I am keeping the link to that page open so I can share it with Tim tomorrow...he has the decaf Folgers crystals that he sometimes uses. He has had quite a few issues and I am wondering if this might be a part of the reason why...grrr Thank you SO much for sharing this :heartpumpred:

That is so true! I bought whole beans by mistake once so I bought a small coffee grinder! It was more fun than I should admit grinding all those beans to make my coffee!:yesss:

I hope Tim feels better soon! It makes me mad that they can process coffee using the Swiss water process but many still use chemicals! I LOVE Dunkin'Donut coffee from the shop and ground coffee to use at home but I can't drink it anymore knowing this chemicals, which are carcinogenic, are in there. :sad1:

Hey! I just realized that I had posted that I stopped drinking decaf coffee 6 years ago. I meant to say I stopped drinking regular coffee 6 years ago and switched to decaf. I have edited my original post. Sorry about any confusion!
