Calling all Party Planners

Last summer, my kids decided that they wanted to revive an old family activity- Theme Nights. We started this when they were little kids and this time we put an adult spin on them- we researched and created cocktails to go with the theme. So we made food, watched a movie (or played a game), Trick or Treated with each other, exchanged Christmas "gifts" (Basically junk we found in the house and wrapped in newspaper LOL), and enjoyed some fun drinks, including ones that glowed in the dark.

The kids want to do this again this summer although a bit scaled back since we will actually have semi-normal lives this time. But I am having trouble coming up with themes because we don't want to do the same as we did last time. We did a lot of the basics-Pirates, Wizards, Halloween, Luau, Disney, Vampires, Carnival Games. Now I am wracking my brain for new ones and I am coming up short.
What are some party themes you have had or attended? It doesn't matter what age range they were, we are pretty immature- er, I mean "young at heart." ;)
I was thinking Mardi Gras, or maybe a different cultural region? The rest of the family didn't seem super interested so now I am back to the drawing board.

Some LOs so you can see what I am blabbering about:

I know nothing of party themes, but it seems with all the current activity on Mars it could provide some kind of theme. Probably silly but then...

June 25th (this year - date differs, it's alway on the Friday) is Swedish Midsummer. You need twigs, flowers, a pole, food and lots of vodka (or for a more traditional version: moonshine). :D

Don't miss the movie for the crash course (and yes, I was born in March)

For a more accurate depiction of Swedish Midsummer - look at this old german IKEA commercial ...

I was thinking Mardi Gras too. What about Chinese New Year? The Olympics are coming up. A Western Hoe Down, a Train Ride or a Back to the Past (80s?) or Roaring Twenties? Sounds like fun.

That might be a lot of fun... I guess if we want to use Space X as a theme we could explode stuff on landing hahah!!

As a child of the 80's, that was in my mind too- need to stock up on the Aqua Net!

Crayfish premiere is in August. It used to be you couldn't legally catch crayfish before a specific date in August (don't remember which date). It's not like that anymore, but people love their traditions so the party is still every August.

And I am in love with the 20’s theme. combining 1920 and 2020 is brilliant!

Flappers with iPhones, face masks and social distancing. All you can drink are hand sanitizer. Everyone bring their own toilet paper rolls and tinned goods. :D

Travel theme. Foods served in space ships, planes, trains, automobiles & bicycles. :) Road sign shapes, railway tracks, bike wheels & planets mobile, incorporated into decorations. I went to a party & we had a drone deliver dessert to everyone. We had so much fun. There were little envelopes, with train tickets (in a big bowl in center of table) that had conversation starter sentences, on the back, that you had to come up with a short travel story. Mine was ... "On my way to Mars, I stopped on planet _____________ to _____________." Every 5 minutes someone had to draw a ticket and another story was delivered. I laughed so hard at some people's storytelling drama. haha

What a fun party idea- I saved your post to my bookmarks here so I don't lose it. For a few of the theme nights, I printed out super-corny Mad Libs and that was a lot of ridiculous laughter but this seems way more cool!

Gotcha! I remember going to her party a couple of times, years ago, and I remember it being summer.
