Are you traveling for the holidays?

I am so excited - we are traveling the day after tomorrow back to Czech Republic to spend Christmas with the family. The last four Christmases we spent here in Indonesia - on the beach and at home by the pool, which is fun and exotic... But I am soooo looking forward to wearing scarves, and boots and gloves and Christmas sweaters!!! And - hopefully - seeing some snow! Last time I saw snow was before COVID, winter season 2019-20.

This year, we will have a real - not plastic - Christmas tree, and we will be guests, rather than hosts - the latter definitely a first. Needless to say, I am excited beyond words - I'll get to play, bake and read with the grandkids and then hand them over to their parents to put to bed! I'll grab a glass of wine and watch my son and daughter-in-law get the dinner ready. I'll sit and go with the flow and have a very restful holiday! Simply perfect!

The traveling part is a bit of a thing - it's a 31-hour journey door-to-door and we need to make a business stop on the way from the airport, so it'll be more than 35 hours on the road... well, living abroad, we are used to it, one might say.

So, what about you? Are you traveling or staying for the holidays?

My husband and I will be travelling Christmas Eve to be with my older sister and her family for two nights. It is not a long drive - about one and half hours but it takes us longer as we have a stop along the way at a favourite cafe.

That sounds absolutely lovely, Olga! Not so much the long travel part, but the white Christmas and tine with family. Hope you have a lovely trip!

We're travelling after Christmas - heading up north to Queensland for a week to soak up the sun.

We're not traveling either, but your trip sounds wonderful, Olga!

We will be travelling across 41/2 provinces to Ottawa this Christmas Eve. It is a bit of flight as Canada is a big Country and we are at the West Coast of it. Will end up being about 7hrs in the air. We are very excited to be guests at our Son and DIL's! We will be joined by our Daughter and her family, it has been many years since we have been able to spend Christmas all together and it should be a fun, chaotic time!! The guys will also be attending the World Jr. Hockey Championship in Ottawa, so we will be spending at least 2 weeks with all of them. Praying for good weather and no flight cancellations or bad road conditions for our Daughter and SIL who have to be on the road for the 6 hr. drive. I can relate just how excited you are to go on your trip Olga!! Wow that is a long time to be travelling, but it will be so worth it!! :xmas4::xmas9:

Sounds like a wonderfully relaxing time for you! We aren't doing our Christmas gathering until January for my side of the family. We will make individual stops for his side of the family on Christmas or there about. No cooking for me until January!

Sounds like a lot of fun holiday plans! I am blessed with most of my family close and we still get together at my grandma's on both sides for the holidays. The only time I ever traveled during a holiday was Christmas 2020, when no one wanted to get sick- we took a trip to Florida and played on the beach on Christmas morning. It was a fun trip, but I am grateful that we continued our traditions after that.
