It’s time for another challenge from Anna Aspnes. The AnnaTeam selects one creative page from the Anna gallery as the ‘AnnaLift.’ Be inspired, create your own ‘AnnaLift,’ upload your page to the Anna gallery and include it here in this forum thread. Upload your page by Friday 07.24.20 by 8:00 pm EST with the title, ‘AnnaLift. ’ One lucky participant will be randomly selected to win a $5.00 GiftKard to Anna’s shop.

HOW IT WORKS: Each Saturday the AnnaTeam posts one creative page from the Anna gallery as the ‘AnnaLift.’ Check out the inspiration page and decide what speaks to you. Is it the design, the color, the wordART, or maybe the photo? Then enjoy artfully playing—there is no right or wrong way to ArtPlay.

Choose ONE idea to lift or choose it ALL and lift it completely. Be inspired, create your ‘AnnaLift’ and then upload your page to the Anna gallery, plus include it here in this forum thread. It would be great if you could link back to your page in the gallery too!

Anna’s products mix well with so many kits/designers and Anna welcomes you to include these with your Anna Products on your AnnaLift page.

Saturday Coffee & Hot Chocolate Time by nia

A reflection of contemporary style, nia has created a design with flair. The focal images are carefully masked and distressed. The figures are faceless and mysterious. The casual attire is well suited to a visit to a favorite coffee shop. Just as a beautiful ritual was altered by the crisis of our time, nia adds a heavy black horizontal cord that separates the figures. Loosely painted color swatches frame the images. These remnants of the color palette provide a unique frame. Neutral colors dominate the design but accents of complementary red and green add a bold visual touch. Red brush work continues into the figure and the title while black splatters and lines accent the figures. A simple photo slide adds dimension and offers the final clue to the scheduled activity. The strong vertical placement and limited colors add strength to the overall visual dynamic. This creative design by nia is beautiful and chic.

IDEAS TO INSPIRE: Use ONE or MORE of the following in your AnnaLift layout.

  • Document a favorite activity that has been altered and challenged by isolation.
  • Experiment with a neutral color scheme or try a complementary with bold accents.
  • Mask and distress the focal image for emphasis.
  • Use transfers to create unique elements and frames.
  • Add a groups of elements like stitchez, frames, or buttons for repetition and unity.

The pandemic changed how my nephew celebrated his 21st birthday. Normally I would have treated him to a TexMex happy hour with margaritas and tacos. Instead he celebrated by going to a few liquor stores to buy booze—just so he could be carded and show his ID. I did treat to a bottle of tequila though.

One more...

A favorite activity that has been altered by the pandemic is eating out. We used to eat out, mostly lunch and coffee, several times in a week. Last week we ate out for the first time in 4 months. Masks and outdoor tables appropriately spaced made it feel safe, but we are still hesitant to do it too often.

just under the wire for this challenge

photos of butterflies from my backyard...thankfully if I'm patient enough I can get a photo when they butterfly stops for a nano second on a flower!
