When I started scrapping - with papers and scissors back then - it was beause I wanted to kill two birds with one stone - get creative and end up with a pretty family photo album. Forteen years down the road, I am still scrapping - digitally these days - for the same two reasons. But so many fellow scrappers I've talked to - on the forums and via private messages - tell me they scrap for fun, for challenges and as a creative outlet, but almost never for albums... i can't possibly be one of the few... or am I???

With so many offers of your-photobook-in-minutes out there, is this what people are doing these days? Or do you think there is a large silent majority of scrappers who scrap privately and never bother to participate in forum discussions/post in galleries?

I know I spent about 5 years as a ghost on a couple of sites...

I make a Project 52 album every year and print it up thru Shutterfly. This year I did a Document Your December, and I’m sure I will do a vow renewal book.

I have the best of plans for albums, but I rarely finish them.

I love both! I'm also a member of a Facebook group of a Dutch album printer whose members love to make albums of their holidays (in difficult software, i know it because i love to print albums) etc. They also use scrapbook stuff!

I think most digital scrapbookers are in it for the memory keeping. I really do. I think the awesome scrappers that participate in the forums represent a small portion of scrappers.

My family has no interest in the books I have made. So I have printed only a few. The rest are in digital form should anyone in the family show interest down the way.
Now I scrap as a creative outlet. Rarely are there personal family photos used but some holiday ect photos are used. Mostly I scrap photos from outside sources that work with my CT work or ones that catch my fancy for challenges or trying out new techniques.

I have already scrapped most of the older family photos that I wanted to scrap from a memory-keeping standpoint, so now I'm just scrapping newer photos as I acquire them (of which there are not a lot), and scrapping for the creative outlet. Sometimes that means using stock photos and sometimes that means re-using older photos.

I have been on one Creative Team or another pretty much my entire digiscrapping life, so that automatically means forum participation. As far as printing, I have printed one book for myself and a couple as gifts, but that's it. Probably 95% of the layouts I have done haven't been printed.

My former employer did photo books for her family every year for Christmas. She uses Shutterfly or one of the other services that offer deals for the holidays, and just uses whatever templates they offer without any additional embellishments.

I scrap for myself - creative outlet, challenges, and also for albums. I print a lot of the pages I scrap for myself - most of the albums I have printed for myself are a combination of different pages. I do make albums for gifts and those are just pages I've done of family. I enjoy looking back at the Art Journaling pages that I've created.

I scrap for many reasons...memory preservation, showcasing my photos, for the creative outlet and just having fun. I will often re-use photos, seldom use stock photos but do occasionally, I even make some photo-less pages occasionally. I love that I am not tied down to any one reason, any one style, for scrapping. I can do what I feel like doing, in the moment. I have created albums and keep all my LOs in an online gallery, so when I am ready for an album I can download them and send them to (usually) Blurb (there are not many options here in Canada that are very cost-effective). I have also printed 12x12s and framed them so they are in my upstairs hallway. I'm also going to put a few in my foyer.

Well, I don´t scrap family photo albums, I don´t like it!! I scrap because I like to put my creativity to the test, because it's relaxing and because I have a lot of fun doing it.

I started out many years ago paper scrapping family memories and putting them into albums. Then I learned digital scrapping. The family have all grown up and have grandchild of their own... and have scattered across the country. The only pages I print now are about my deceased husband and our life and put them into albums. The family prefers digital and they have the option on printing out the pages they want to keep.
Now I mainly scrap CT pages and use a mixture of family photos and stock photos. I am in the process of scanning in old family photos and will be making some pages with them. I enjoy the creativity of creating pages. I also love learning new tricks of digi-scrapping and participating in challenges.

Now, why have I never thought of that?! I have a long entry stairway from my front door to my living space that I think needs some decoration. Thanks, Rae!

If you do it, take photos and scrap about it. I should do the same :)
