Thanks for the challenge. Got to play around with the AI tool at Canva, learned how to work the equivalent of Photoshop's brush preset manager in Affinity Photo, got to use my new prize from the Christmas party and learned about the 19th century poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge - who never did...
I generated the silhouette by giving the AI tool at Canva a verbal prompt.

I'm looking for a replacement for Linotype font explorer on Mac - FontBase looks like a possibility, but I can't tell from the website if it creates character maps without paying for extra features. Can anyone who uses it tell me if it does? Thnx.
if you go to Anna Aspnes's website and look for tutorials by her creative team you'll find lots of suggestions. I've learned a lot there, especially from @Adryane. Some of her creative team members also put process notes in their gallery descriptions, which can be very helpful.
I did one more to test out a way to apply some aspects of "extreme visual journaling" (link to article by Juliana Coles, who invented the process, in the gallery description), that I bumbled upon in my last LO. It's more of a cross between visual journaling and artsy digiscrapping, which is fine...

Scrapped in Affinity Photo - the artwork wasn't that hard, just coloring and blending
This was a test to see if I...
Thanks for the challenge. I haven't done much digi-art journaling because I usually defeat the purpose of art journaling with my endless overthinking. But I had an idea I thought I'd try in Affinity Photo (this is definitely the last time for a good long time because I'm going blind using it)...

One last experiment with Affinity Photo. It might be a neat program if it worked consistently and didn't cause me to go blind. Biggest problems had to do with masking. EDIT: I went back...

I had a lot of experience with Affinity for doing simpler things - mostly making origami instructions from photographs. Because of its GUI issues and my eyesight, I could not imagine doing LO's with Affinity before this month. But having done all five party LO's with Affinity, I have a much...
We went from getting almost no Amazon packages to getting multiple deliveries per week. We have had a hose reel on our front porch for some time along with a sign saying "place (i.e. hide) packages here" but some Amazon drivers plopped packages on the porch in plain sight anyway. So we put a...
Finally! Last :D LO with Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop. Biggest challenge was masking, because it's not easy to see what you're doing when carefully masking out edges, although the live view helps. There is a quick mask tool but it doesn't seem to work if you've already created a mask for...

Last year's holiday letter:
This year's:
I'm still challenging myself to scrap in Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop for this party.
@annaaspnes recently told me that many elements of her products work well with AP, but that some techniques might be better done in Photoshop, so I thought...
What, you may be thinking, are all the animals (especially the adorable Highland Coo whose colors don't match the background paper) doing in a holiday letter - I'm using them as placeholders for family pictures in this day and age of web scraping to train AI in facial recognition. This is the...
It's been serious mental work coming up with things I can scrap in Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop without completely tearing my hair out, but I did it! My border consists of a stand of "trees" created with Vicki's brushes, some foliage and scatters from the Jingle & Mingle kit and for the...
