these are photos from the return to the ship after seeing the walrus. We learned a lot about the Svalbard Islands - Russia had coal mines and cities - they still have one mine that is functioning. Most has been abandoned. Saw barnacle geese and black guillemots.

The map shows the excursions we took as we had two days in Longyearbyen. I loved the boat excursion to see the walrus. It was so cute to see them cuddled. But also to see them in the water.

Our excursion out of Longyearbyen, Svalbard was to find walrus. And boy did we. These are them in the water as they are searching for food mostly clams.
