As a lover of all things flora, I was in my heaven, if you will...

Our first day in Sydney was perfect weather-wise. Having checked in at the Hotel Intercontinental (free), we walked a short way down to "Circular Quay," the main port site of the city. All I can say is, "WOW!"

Did not personally visit this city (sad). Husband was ill.

I've never seen a kangaroo - even in a zoo. On a bus outing in Adelaide, Australia, this big guy stood right in front of me. My husband was not happy to hear that I got so close to a wild animal!

It was about 10:30 at night when the train made its stop here for us to see the immensely deep pit where earth-moving machines were busily bringing the "goods" from a mile below upwards to the surface for processing. An incredible site!

After spending a day and a half in Australia's largest western seaport, we boarded a train headed for Sydney
