Three weeks, but not likely these colors show up in the course of our next (sandhill cranes) trip, but if they do I'll make sure to add a second page. :D
For the weeks after our trip, each day was filled with appointments, a lot of snow, and temperatures as low as -14F. We thought one year after Russia's invasion of Ukraine would be depressing, but it was OK. I loved sending a donation, and the first day with my inhaler I felt better than in a...
This is fabulous of course, but I hope you to stay curious about them and your interest and love of them just continues to grow, because fractals are everywhere around us. :p
The CCY Route has been a popular hike that starts at the Chapin Pass trailhead on Old Fall River Road. The three summits are linked by the scenic trail with an altitude gain of 3, 172 ft. in a just under 9 mile hike. It's a Hell's Revenge equivalent for hikers in July, August & September.
From our stopping spot just south of St. Malo, we had the best view of Longs Peak of any along the Peak to Peak Highway. We didn't have to wait long for the sun to wash everything in orange light. But we'd return to this place another time, because Longs Peak was shrouded in clouds.
Since 2008 we've had a subscription to Sirius/XM Radio because in a Jeep we need the traffic info that comes with it. We mostly listen to Spa or Chill because we both like it and it's soothing on steep cliffs, but when Stone waits for my P.T. appointments he switches it to Willie's Roadhouse. :D
We don't think you have to believe in gnomes or in Valentine's Day. But we've always known we'd each be less if we didn't have love in our lives. So we believe in love & celebrate its importance in some way every year.
There was a skiff of snow on Thursday morning and it looked like it might be sunny. We headed out 40 minutes before sunrise in the direction of Allenspark, and return on Peak to Peak Highway, hoping to find something to see. We 'landed' just south of St. Malo at sunrise.
We didn't mind wind or cold, as long as we had sun, and the elk were a lucky extra. Snow was predicted for later in the day. We stopped several times to take in the weather on the high peaks, and only later realized it was all the same mountains from different points in the hairpin curves.
On Wednesday, the wind was fierce when we headed to Many Parks Curve Overlook in RMNP to see the sunrise. I wasn't dizzy and was able to stand in the 40+ mph wind to get video of ground blizzards in front of a mountain scene. We were glad sun didn't come up behind the rock.
