I was pretty busy doing backups when Garth delivered Jux 4.0, but I took time to look at it anyway. Turned out backups and fractals worked well together, and I looked at a sample that used orbit traps. Soon I was on a mission, to use orbit traps to create placement maps for my pages.

The bunnies were scarce and a raccoon was on our roof, so I was happy to see them again two days later with babies of different ages. I made a plan to get new sod in May when we'd be able to keep it watered, and Garth released Jux 4.0 with a lot of new features I just had to explore.

I always try to capture birds in flight and cattails. Two of my many obsessions, but nothing to write on this page I didn't plan to make when I was messing aroung but it just happened.

I took census photos of many random collections of diving ducks, and always tried to capture flights. Later, I recognized all the usuals, but new to me was the female lesser scaup, and because two ducks flew off together I figured out they were a pair, and I now knew another female.

We might not know for a month or more, but it could be a great last spring snow. It brought lots of moisture as it started as rain and huge flakes, and next morning just a crust of it remaining on the grass, which was suddenly green! And to wake up to 31 degrees, it felt like how springtime...

We saw a variety of ducks but not close, and it was the geese that I watched the most. I'd been drawn to them for a long time, since back when people thought they might be endangered. We've come so far and we wouldn't have to drive five hours to see them. But I just liked them.

We still go to the refuge to see what is right with our world. To be in a place where visitors are always welcome. I’m not so worried about Mother Earth because I think when she’s had enough of us she’ll just shake us all off the planet. We'll remember the ice and frost on our last April day...
