Our three-day trip to Fawn Valley was a feasibility test for future visits to the high country. We had plenty of hope, but out of caution we made the trip shorter than usual. And as a plan B, we had also worked out the details for a January trip to Moab. I did well and we added two days.
On Friday we knew it would be windy when we left for RMNP, but not so it was hard to stand up. We didn't stay long. The sunrise was mostly red but when it lit the divide it was magical. I liked the dark stormy mood and made a photo, then five minutes later the range was all pink.
Trail Ridge Road had been closed for two weeks and we had just gotten our first snow of the season a few days before Halloween. There wasn't much snow and the ranger at the park entrance made a comment about us coming to see the elk bugling made me think it was still going on.
We got out at about 7:15am for sunrise at 7:33a just a few days before the end of daylight saving time. Once the sun bathed the valley at Sheep Lakes where a few elk were feeding, it was glorious. I also enjoyed a few snippets of video of a tribe of magpies, and we saw two coyotes.
I wanted to make my own Catrina. I worked a lot and used elements from seven different artists to create her. I wanted to keep the papery sketchy vibe but bring her to life. I made the marigold seed packet too, because there needs to be much more to create a page about the celebration of life.
I made two similar DotD pages. For this one, I grayed the background so you can focus on the text. I also made a more festive one with a red background. Thank you for the challenge. I learned that 100 words is way beyond my comfort zone and I like 50 a lot better. I think it's the ADHD. :p
My love of all things Day of the Dead started with my best friend. She was so excited to show me socks or shoes or anything with sugar skulls printed on them. Her passion for the art, which I always found to be very creative, got me into it. And it makes perfect sense, to dance and focus on...
Thanks. ;) I put up with the pain and sleepless night for ten years after they recommended surgery. Not sorry, but one too many nights with no sleep and now hoping the injections would have made things better all these years. So many friends are saying they didn't work, but I still have hope...
Thanks Nancy for the challenge!
I started with photos, and an ink jpg from the web. At first no frames, I added the flowers because that's hard for me. The one photo in two frames because I didn't want to find something not already in front of me. By the end I still couldn't create any...
In the blue hour, we both treasured our views of the first lake looking north at dawn lighting and thunder and lightning. I tried every time but never caught the instant of a lightning strike. There were still blackbirds feeding on the cattails, and the best part before sunrise was the cranes.
