We docked in the town of Djupivogur early, after breakfast in our room it was load on a bus for an 8 hr excursion. The scenery to the final destination were gorgeous.

Oh my gosh this is my favorite birding site in NJ. We have been going there for over 40 years. I am sorry you missed all the birds because they are pretty spectacular. love the two pages, beautiful photos!
This is the town we docked in on day 12. It was so cute, lots of unique buildings and the rainbow road to the Blue Church. The Gufufoss waterfalls was also with in walking distance but for my DH not me LOL.

These are photos from the Skalanes nature/research center. I saw puffins, kittiwakes with chicks, black backed gull and chick, greylags (geese), common eiders (male and female) and redshank. Also though it was perfect to have the Arctic tern on the sign explaining the site. It was a walk and...
these are photos of the Arctic terns at the nature center - they were not happy with us as we walked through their nesting meadow - I think they are such a stunning bird

I used the prompt alive - Skalanes is a nature/research center in Iceland and these photos were taken from their lookout - I have loved birdwatching since I took an ornithology class in college. It makes me feel alive to be outside and taking photos of birds.

these are photos of the remaining sites we visited - most interesting to me was that we went from North America to Europe as this is where the Rift is between the two plates
the first stop on the bus tour was the Godafoss waterfalls, when Iceland decided to switch to Christianity the leader through all the old idols over the falls - hence the God falls - the map shows the bus route
day 11 of the cruise was a 7 hr bus trip to various sites around the city of Akureyri, Iceland - on of the interesting things in the city is that the red light is in the shape of a heart!
