I recently watched a YouTube clip that implored us all to never underestimate the gift that is an ordinary day. Perhaps the best way to do this is to just sit and watch a toddler play. On this particular day I had many other things I wanted to be doing, but Hannah was determined to play outside so I had to abandon it all and watch over her. And now Im glad I did. What a joy it is to watch a little being discover things for the first time. She had such fun putting Dora in and out of the car and pushing it around. I watched her marvel at flowers, at individual rocks in the gravel, at the patterns on the palm trees out the front of our house. All things I dont even notice as an adult. There is indeed beauty in every ordinary thing on this Earth, and a gift in every ordinary day. April 2010
