When I was much younger, I would study this drawing. I was fascinated by how the artist was able to capture the image with a few lines, smudges and touches of white highlights. I used it
as a model to learn to draw. I believe the drawing is of my
cousin, Janice.
After years of practice and a lot of portraits, I still love to draw portraits. The human experience can be read in the face.
I am curious as to the story behind the drawing, but I know that it was on the nightstand in my parent’s room for years.
Now, the drawing rests in a box where it is safe. I suspect my mother bumped the frame while dusting and broke the frame.
