Winter

I've always been fascinated how the flat painting of Japanese woodcut prints can be so expressive. With a few lines and strokes they convey highly emotional scenes. This print of a man struggling against the winter wind seemed perfect for a background created using papers, transfers, frame and brushes from the APP Niege.

Print found on New York Public Libray (NYPL) copyright free digital collection.

Thanks for looking!
This took me on a little trip into Pearl Buck-land! Gorgeous. The snow flakes are awesome.

Definitely can feel the bitter cold winds that the man is battling. Your additions have added to this feel.

The struggles of man. I agree, your LO continues, beautifully, this wonderful piece of art.

Love the rhythm and flow of this! Agree with SharLamb and DK ... a blend of Pearl Buck and Haiku!

I like how you've supported the woodcut on the branch...it lends a sort of quivering motion. Beautiful snowstorm, too.
