Occasionally, when conditions are just right, white horses rise from the lakes in Northern Minnesota. It requires a cool evening, so the warm water vapor from the lake will condense into a heavy fog when it rises to meet the cool morning air. When the small clouds of fog tumble off the lake, driven by a summer breeze... the white horses run. It does not happen every day, and it only happens at sunrise, but when a day begins with the white horses, it always seems that something special, something good, is happening.
