Journaling reads: Ron was a member of the Convair Water Ski Club for years. Often times they would stay in the San Diego area and ski in the south bay or in the Coronado area, but when they wanted to get away, they usually either went to Fishers Landing or Picacho State Park on the Colorado River. I loved going out to Picacho. To get there, we had to drive 25 miles on a bumpy and dusty dirt road. Once there, they had camp sites restrooms and showers, and a place to launch the boats. We would set up camp on the water and relax all weekend. We typically ended the weekend by going up river and we would then float beside the boat until the current brought us back to the launch site. It gave us some time to relax and float, and talk and laugh while watching the world go by. I am not into skiing but enjoy watching everyone else - amazed by how good they are, and love the dry heat of the Arizona desert - knowing the river was right there to be cooled off in if I got too hot. He had sandwiches, grapes, and carrots with onion dip for the day, and hotdogs or steaks to barbecue for dinner. Our weekend get-away.
