Punta della Dogana

Of perfectly triangular shape, Punta della Dogana's building(ship) is at the end of the district of Dorsoduro and separates the Grand Canal of the Channel(Canal) of Giudecca. In June, 2009, this building symbol of the city dating the XVIIth century, reopened its doors to the public, coming to complete the cultural offer of Palazzo Grassi, place of exhibition(exposure) and seat(siege) of Franois Pinault Foundation. The building(ship), so particular and symbolic, so changed function(office) for the first time of its history(story), abandoning(giving up) the commercial traffics to welcome major productions of the contemporary art and become a place to share them with the public.
