Here's my entry for the Hodge Podge Art challenge to scrap the letter "U", using Ninascraps' wonderful Christmas kit Joy & Happiness

See that hideous, purple, plastic monstrosity on my right arm? No, its not some weird Singaporean fashion item, it is the protective shield I had to wear throughout Christmas 2007. Picture this; it is the first day of the Christmas holidays and Ginny & I are having an ice skating lesson. I fall, I break my wrist, I get in the car and drive home (while the adrenaline is still flowing), then I go into hospital, have surgery and leave with a bill for $15,000 (but thats another story). Dominic is, of course, away on business. Joan is going on home leave for a fortnight. And I quickly discover that there are an amazing number of things you cant do with a broken wrist peel potatoes, drive, fasten up a bra ones 7 yr old daughter can not do all of these jobs well, not the driving bit, anyway. And lets not even mention the fact that we were packing up the entire house to move back to the UK, which kind of required that I had the use of both arms.
This whole experience has taught me to be a lot more cautious as this was an unbelievably, stupidly, self-inflicted injury that really could have been avoided. Needless to say, Dominic has banned me from ice skating or anything else remotely dangerous!
