I always felt that there was something different about
you. You had many problems from the moment your were
born and some of them were solved before you came home
from the hospital. According to the pediatrician your only
problem left, was the tiny hole in your heart. When you were
eight months old you had open heart surgery and it was
closed. After that everything should be okay with you, but
it never felt completly right, there was always that nagging
voice inside my head that said there was more. You always
a bit behind on your brothers in your development and instead
of catching up after the surgery, you stayed behind and
there were more things that we noticed. You never seemed
to be comforted by a hug, you never responded to your
name calling, you didn't look us in the eyes when we talked to
you. You also had trouble with walking, you fell a lot. We took
you back to the pediatrician for many times, saying all this
to her, but she told me I was an overbearing mother. Because
you've had a cerebral hemorrhage, they had made a scan of
your brain and according to the pediatrician they didn't see
anything wrong. But I didn't stop searching for help, with
many different things we got a little help, you could go to
special daycare and they told us to go to new pediatrician
and so we did. He said that the first scan did show something
strange and that you had moved during the scan, so it really
wasn't reliable. There were enough reasons to make a new
scan he said within 5 minutes of being in his office. I felt so
relieved, finally someone who listened and took us serious.
A new scan was made and it showed many things wrong in your
brain and now more then a year later we stil don't know for
sure what it all means for you and your future, but at least
we are handling the things we can and search for more help.
