Treehouse

JOURNALING SAYS:
This is my eight year-old daughter, Lydias treehouse. You might wonder why we call it that since it is not in a tree. Well, when my husband, Rick, and I moved into the house there were three trees in that spot. Rick wanted to build our daughter a treehouse between the trees, but unfortunately all the trees died and needed to be cut down because they looked awful. A while later, Rick decided to build a shed there because we needed somewhere to store all his tools and our bicycles and such. He decided to make a second floor to the shed and make Lydias treehouse there. Ricks best friend is a contractor. One day he noticed that people on a construction sight were about to get rid of all this lumber. Some of the boards were sixteen feet long. So all the framing material for the shed was free. Rick decided to make the structure look like a barn. He custom built the shed himself with no plans. He even custom made the window glass to fit the top windows. There is a ladder on the left side, but Lydia can also slide out of it as well. Lydia and her friends love to play in it and they have had numerous sleepovers up there. On sleepover nights, Rick runs an extension cord up to the treehouse so the girls have light and sometimes he even lets them use his laptop to watch a movie. Rick grew up surrounded by trees and he believes every child should have a treehouse. I think Lydia would agree.
