Sugarland stage collapse: I had been looking forward to this concert for a long time. I really enjoyed the first time I heard Sugarland in concert 2 years ago. We bought tickets so we could go with another couple that enjoyed Sugarland. We spent the day together and planned the evening. We were staying overnight at a hotel after the concert and decided to take a taxi. We got to the fair before the concert and enjoyed some typical fair sites. Once in the concert, we found our seats and listened to the opening show and noticed the clouds starting to darken to our left. We hoped the set would be changed quickly because it surely looked like the rain was going to not miss us. The entire group near us seemed worried about the weather. One man checked the radar on his phone, another person was telling what towns were being hit by the storm. An announcement came from the stage that if they had to evacuate the show due to weather, where to go, but that they hoped to get some songs off before the storm hit. We were torn, it was certainly getting darker, there were lightening sitings, but they hadn't cancelled it. As we saw what we thought was rain sheets heading our way we stood up to leave and take cover. Looking back we saw the stage fall over into the grandstand crowd as we go hit with the dust cloud. We could not believe what we had seen. I had never witnessed weather like this and thought it might be a tornado coming. So happy to be alive and so sad that so many died and were hurt. It still seems surreal.
