Those Red Magical Mushrooms

I've always been fascinated by these red-topped mushrooms more commonly known as Fly Agaric. As a child, I was sure fairies lived underneath them in quaintly quirky houses. When I was in college, I learned that their supposedly "magical and mystical" psychedelic effects were the inspiration for "Alice in Wonderland." And they're featured in the dancing mushroom sequence in the 1940 Disney film, Fantasia. But recently I learned that Fly Agarics appear on Christmas and New Year's cards from around the world as a symbol of good luck. Yet I still like to believe that they are shelter for the fairies of the world; so the ones in this layout must be home to an entire clan. (I know, I've always had an active imagination.) Hahaha.

Thanks for looking!
i am sure that an active imagination is a good thing, especially when it follows you to adulthood. beautiful mushrooms.....just the right size and just the right amount of pizzazz for a fairy home.

Wonderful colors! They are always magical to me but I didn't know they were used on Christmas cards. I searched for images and you should really do that if you have time.

These are great photos, you must have been down on the ground to get these shots! Love the red and the leaves on the page. I remember seeing mushrooms like this in the French Alps, in a very fairylike place ;-)

The scale of the branches in the background is a perfect complement to these fairy mushrooms--awesome leaf work, too. Love this layout.
