AFT_VellumFancy Journaling reads : On Thanksgiving morning this Anhingia was on the dock
with fishing line on it beak, we tried several times
to catch it to remove the line but were not successful
The next day we found it hanging by the line high up
in the magnolia tree over the water. Karyn, Rich and Kimmie
came over to help. Several attempts to reach it failed
but more neighbors arrived to help and Troys height made
it possible to get a line on the branch pull it down a little
so we could reach the branch with a pole saw. When it
fell into the water I scooped it up with a net. The line
was kevlar so very hard to cut away. Once it was off
we let it go and off it went to swim around the pond .Its neck and face were all raw from rubbing against the
branches while trying to free itself. Many other birds came
to the tree, they were squawking and flying around, it was
quite amazing. It spent the night sitting on the dock and
so far seems ok. Its such a good feeling to free that bird..
Thank goodness for a happy ending. I was worried as I was reading this. What a Fab group of people working together and love how you documented it!
