The Stockings Tradition

For Home for the Holidays family tradition challenge.

Journaling: The tradition began when we were children. My mom was an excellent sewer and had made me and my sister our own stockings. They were red and green with our names cross-stitched to hold our holiday loot. Even when the belief in Santa faded, we still woke early on Christmas morning to find our stocking stashed with presents. This tradition was passed down to Darin and I when we were married. My mom presented us with our very own stockings of red and gold to hang in our own house. As newlyweds, we excitedly filled each other giant socks with goodies each year. When our oldest son arrived, I continue the legacy by getting out my sewing machine and making him his blued and gold stocking to add to our Christmas collection. A few years later, our youngest son arrived and I purchased him complimentary black and gold fabric to make his stocking. With the hectic holiday season approaching, I didnt get it complete. I let the little guy borrow my old stocking mom had made me to fill in, but it wasnt the same. So three Christmas mornings have passed, I made it my goal to finish his stocking this year. My mom would be proud that I stuck to my guns and now the tradition lives on. Four stockings are hung by the chimney with care ready for the Christmas morning unveiling!

Materials: Vicki Stegalls Bella Noel kit, Danielle Youngs Kiwi Christmas stars, and Taylormades Shine On paper
