Raquel Torres was a half-German half-Mexican woman born in 1908 in Mexico.She starred in late silent and early sound films.She arrived in films at the age of 19 and garnered instant attention and a flurry of wolf whistles in W.S. Van Dyke's White Shadows in the South Seas(1928),which remains best known as MGM's first film to synchronize music,dialogue,and sound effects.This was supposedly the first film in which the MGM lion roared before the opening credits of the picture.She played with Groucho,Chico,Harpo and Zeppo in Duck Soup (1933).Duck Soup is now widely considered to be a masterpiece,and the Marx Brothers' finest film.In 1990 the United States Library of Congress deemed Duck Soup "culturally, historically,or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. The final battle scenes are "rightfully called the funniest of all of cinema".Raquel Torres died from a heart attack on August 10,1987 in Los Angeles.KIT: Aqua Adventures CSD Mega (Collab)
