I have many fond memories of grade school. Not everyone does. Although I wasnt Miss Popularity and certainly had times when I experienced the unhappiness of feeling not as cool as others, I had some good friends and we had fun. I liked most of my teachers and was good at many things. St. James was a special place for me. Playing Oregon Trail and PAWS on our Apple IIEs. Annunciating our words in music class. Planning Masses. Working in the breezeway. The blue and yellow uniforms. I definitely look back on grade school in a mostly positive light. I am fairly certain this picture is from first grade. I would guess the last day of first grade since Jean and I are not only good friends at this point, but also not wearing our plaid uniform jumpers. Jean was among many of the friends that stayed with me throughout grade school, and its been fun reconnecting with her on Facebook. There are many more people that became the rocks in my life. Ive even had drinks with a few of my former teachers and become friends with them as adults. I know not everyone has the same memories as I do, but Im grateful for the school I attended.
