The King of the North

Journaling reads: Called Nanuq by the Inuit, and to them, he is worthy of great respect. In their poetry, they call him Pihoqahuik, meaning the ever-wandering one. I adore the majestic air of the Polar bear, and as I watch them in their enclosure at the San Diego Zoo, I can understand how they have also earned the name - The King of the North.

AnnaBlendz Artsy No. 6 (coming soon)

Process Notes: I began with the Artsy paper, and used inverted masking to place the photo. I placed the photo blend mode Overlay. I copied the photo, and placed the top layer on blend mode Darken, reducing this layers opacity to 70%. I copied the photo one more time, and to this top layer, I played around with the masking to best enhance the bear, rocks and water areas. I then placed the frame, masking a portion of the frame out. I added a variety of transfers and brushes from APP Aspera, plus the MM Stars, and WordART. I added the Looped UrbanThreadz to the bottom right corner of the frame, and then added the title, giving it a soft but broad shadow, to make certain it stood out. I finished the page by tucking the journaling below the title.

Thanks for looking
What a wonderful job wiith the inversion, the masking and the masking of the polar bear. Love those broad squiggles and your journaling info. The dark blue gives it a glacial feeling.

I adore the photographic blending modes, it's as if the photograph is illuminated against the dark background! A stunning page!

I like how you took him "out of the zoo" and "into the wild" with your magical masking.

Great blending of the frames Joanie, looks wonderful on the dark background!
