This is the companion page to The Kautter Family. There was a brother who died at the age of 21. He was a very talented artist and only one piece of his work came across the Atlantic with my great aunt.

Journaling reads:
Otto was a talented artist who was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Art by Kaiser Wilhelm II. Sadly before he could further develop his talents he fell out of a tree saving a bird. He suffered a head injury and died soon after the accident.

The Process
I selected artsy paper 3 from AP Old World. Solid paper 5 was layered over it with the blending mode changed to multiply and with a reduced opacity. Next the photo image was extracted and added to the page. The image was duplicated and placed behind the original. The blending mode was changed to hard light, duplicated again, opacity reduced. The original image was duplicated again and place behind the hard light image with the opacity changed to color burn. Because some of the second image came through a layer mask was added and the parts that showed were hidden. Several Tape Textures were layered onto the page to ground the images. Each texture was changed to overlay and duplicated to give softer edges and lines. The banner and ribbon from AP Old World were added with the blending modes changed to color burn. Buttons, stitchez, label words, subtle quotes and the journaling were added to complete the page.
