Journaling:
The sun came out briefly in the morning and then more snow and thick fog. By afternoon the sun was back out and we drove the 17-mile loop road although it was officially closed. A Navajo told us it was OK. Snow was melting fast. Remember big sheets of snow coming off the Jeep.

Love it! You sent me on another journey into Navajo land! Had no idea that country was a volcanic field. I once read that the Navajo language was used as a secret code during the war and it was never deciphered. So much to learn.
