The Goblins Will Get Ya!
Another page for my October art journal. It's only been six days but my art journal has rapidly devolved into real hodge podge--part scrapbook, part smash book (although I must admit that the difference between a scrapbook and a smash book is lost on me, since my earliest scrapbooks from way back in the day would probably now be called smash books, but I digress...). The pages of my October art journal are a mix of digital pages and paper pages, where the paper pages are collages made of old cards, magazine pictures, my own photos and my paper scrapping supplies. I'm using this journal to record things I like most about October, from home decor to recipes to best jack o' lantern patterns to favorite songs and poems.
The photo on this page is of me, taken last year in front of some of our outdoor Halloween decorations (which implies that we have indoor Halloween decorations--yep, we do! It is at this time of year and through New Year's that I must remind my DH of our wedding vows, you know the part about for better or worse, but I digress...). This photo seems to work well with the lines of a poem I've always associated with Halloween, although the poem was not written as a Halloween poem. As the journaling on the page says:
"A Favorite Halloween Poem
Although not strictly speaking a Halloween poem, Ive always associated these lines from James Whitcomb Rileys Little Orphant Annie with Halloween...
When the night is dark and scary,
and the moon is full and creatures are a flying and the wind goes Whoooooooooo,
you better mind your parents and your teachers fond and dear,
and cherish them that loves ya, and dry the orphans tears
and help the poor and needy ones that cluster all about,
or the goblins will get ya if ya don't watch out!!!"
Pretty cool poem, huh?
