Many, many years ago I landed a temp job at the national broadcaster on my return from overseas. I was applying for permanent jobs at the same time, but the temp job turned permanent just as an interview for one of my most coveted jobs came up. I've occasionally wondered how very, very different my life would have been if I had gone down that route (almost certainly wouldn't have the family I do, and probably would live on the other side of the world!)
